Work Text:

It was early in the morning when Satoru was rudely awoken by a knock at his door. He looked at the bright 5:00 am on his clock and glared at the door, hoping that whoever was on the other side could feel his disdain.

He rubbed his eyes so he could get the sleep out of them and reluctantly got out of bed to open the door and beat up whoever was on the other side of it. No one in their right mind wakes up super early in the morning.

Suguru’s face greeted him when he opened his door, glaring at him like he did something wrong. He tried to wrack his brain to see if he did something yesterday to merit this kind of treatment but found nothing, leaving him to look at Suguru’s glaring face with confusion.

“What?”

“You didn’t clean the dishes last night”

“You woke me up for this?”

“Yes”

Satoru was about to close his door and feel the heavenly sensation of sleep again if not for Suguru forcefully dragging him outside.

Now, this leaves him staring blankly at the over piling dishes he left yesterday. If not for Suguru guarding him by the door, Satoru would have already fled to his lovely room and jumped into his wonderful bed to sleep until it was either 11 or nearing afternoon.

“I know what you’re thinking and no, you’re not escaping unless you want a week of cleaning duty. You’re choice.”

Satoru pouts and gave the poor dishes a bad look. Ah, so troublesome.

-

An hour later, Satoru proudly smiles at the clean dishes that he stacked perfectly. From smallest to biggest, everything was perfect. Excellent, even.

Satoru was about to flaunt his excellent skills at Suguru but when he looks back, he wasn’t there anymore. He went out of the kitchen to look at the common area and there he is!

He dashes to Suguru and lunges at the space next to him. He peeks at the book that he was reading but got bored after a minute.

“Hey”, he says as he pokes Suguru’s side.

Suguru sighs and looks at Satoru exasperatedly but nonetheless fond.

“What is it?” He asks.

Satoru was about to respond but got mesmerized by how the soft light of the morning sun covers Suguru perfectly. An angel, his mind supplies.

“Satoru..?”

"Wanna go on a date with me later?”

Suguru blinks, once, twice, and smiles.

“Sure, but you’re paying”

Satoru laughs and smiles. This day was already going to be great.

-

It was 1 in the afternoon when Satoru decided they would go to the aquarium in Sumida, recalling the last weekend when Suguru offhandedly mentioned that he wanted to see the aquatic creatures up-close.

“Hey, what’s taking you so long?” Suguru asks, leaning on Satoru’s door.

“Can’t find my sunglasses,” he grumbles as he looks at every nook and cranny in his drawers.

“You left them in my room last week,” Suguru sighs. “We’re going to be late with the pace you’re going”

Satoru left his futile search for his drawers, heading straight for Suguru’s room. He searches under Suguru’s bed, on his bed, his drawers, and finally the cabinet where he manages to make a mess.

“Nah, it’s the weekdays. Most of the people right now are either at school or doing their jobs,” Satoru cheerfully says. “I didn’t know you were that eager to spend your time with me,” he teases.

“You’re insufferable,” Suguru huffs as he pulls on Satoru’s collar, stopping him from messing up his room even further. He opens a little drawer that Satoru managed to overlook and pulls out the glasses from there.

“Here,” he says as he threw the sunglasses to Satoru. He eyes the strewn clothes that were lying on his floor and bed. “I’ll just tidy this up when we come back later”

Satoru smiles at him by the doorway. “Let’s go!”

-

“You know, it doesn’t make sense that they’re called blue jellyfish if the others are in a different colour. Have they gone out of creativity on names or what?” Satoru complains while poking the tank. He pulls his face in a contemplative frown, “Why don’t they just call them Puff-shroom jellyfish? They look like those, anyway”

Suguru fondly watches and listens as Satoru keeps going on and on about how unbefitting some of the names are. This, along with the way Satoru's eyes would light up whenever he sees something intriguing, is one of the key moments that Suguru determines he will remember about this day.

“And this one, this one looks like sperm. Don’t you think so too, Suguru?”

“Satoru, please, lower your voice down,” Suguru whispers, exasperated, covering half of his face from the glaring parents. “There are children present and if you haven’t noticed, half of the people here look like they want to kick us out”

“Let’s just go to the penguins now,” Suguru pulls on Satoru’s shirt.

“Oh, good idea!” He beams.

They walked on the way to the penguins and Suguru very pointedly ignores the bad looks they got.

Finally, upon arriving at their destination, Suguru sighs a sigh of relief from being out of that area.

“Hey, Suguru! Look at this!”

“Shit! Get out of the tank! We’re really gonna get kicked out of this place…”

-

Suguru wearily sags on the chair in the café. Today was exciting, too exciting, but nonetheless, he had fun. Being with Satoru was like always being on an adrenaline high and he would be lying if he said he didn’t like it. Despite the fact that he causes his hair to gray too early, he loves being with him.

“Look at these buns that I’ve bought! They’re shaped like penguins!”

Satoru places the food on the table after settling into his chair. There was a comfortable silence settling on their table, both of them focusing on their meals.

“You’ve got something right here,” Satoru pipes up, gesturing towards his face.

Suguru tried to remove it, but it was useless since he couldn’t see his face.

“Here, let me”

Satoru leans in. Too close, Suguru’s mind provides. At this close, Satoru’s eyes look like they carry a forest inside, all of it being tall pine trees. He wills himself not to blush to avoid the teasing but thinks it’s futile to try now since he can feel his face already going hot.

“Aren’t you taking too lo-”

Satoru pecks Suguru’s cheek and grins brightly. Ah, Suguru’s brain uselessly supplies.

“There. All done.”

Suguru gingerly touches his cheek. “You’re so sappy,” he mumbles.

Satoru’s ears redden, and Suguru thinks he wants to see that sight more often.

“Wanna have another date with me next time then?”

Suguru wants to tease him, but he can sense the underlying nervousness of Satoru.

"Of course," Suguru says with a smile. "You do know that being with you always makes me happy"

‘’

Suguru blearily opens his eyes and rubs the remnants of sleep out of them. He sighs wearily. Dreaming of the times he spent with Satoru always left him feeling off-balanced, and that didn’t feel nice. Suguru misses him, but he can’t abandon his purpose and the family he’s made along the way. He just hopes Satoru would be able to forgive him when the time comes.

Notes:

was bored on a saturday morning and decided to make a fic where Gojo cleaned the dishes but as you can see, it did not turn out like that. I suck at grammar too, btw.
