Chapter 1: Way to hell

Chapter Text

The loud ringing of the alarm clock forced him to open his eyes. He rolled over to his side on a bed and pulled covers over his head, trying to block the annoying sound as well as a light that was slowly creeping inside his room through the windows.

Realizing that the annoying sound won’t stop anytime soon, a blond in the bed forced himself to open his eyes and searched for a phone on his bedside table. Reaching out his hand he quickly switched off the alarm and checked the time. 6,30 in the morning. Amazing. He forgot to switch off his alarm last night.

Flopping back into his comfortable pillows, his brain started to search for information. Was he supposed to be somewhere? It was Tuesday. He doesn’t have anywhere to be today. He was usually a morning person, not bothered by his alarms, but today he was tired. He wanted to go back to sleep. And with nowhere to be that day, that’s exactly what he planned to do.

His bed was too warm and far too comfortable for anything to get him out of it. His eyes closed once again. Listening to the soft noises of waking up city from behind the window, he was already drifting back to sleep. But it wouldn’t be a normal day if his phone didn’t start ringing again.

This time it wasn’t an alarm. He knew that ringtone. Knew what to expect when he picks up the call. He didn’t want to. He really didn’t want to. But with the acknowledgment that everything will be only worse if he doesn’t pick up, he blindly reached for the phone again, not caring enough to open his eyes and look at the contact.

„What?“ He asked as soon as he accepted the call. His voice was rough from sleeping, and not as full of hate as he would like it to be.

„Good morning. Not like it’s a weekday, right?“ He groaned silently at the sound of his mother’s voice. That woman won’t give him a damn break for one day.

„I don’t have a photoshoot today. And you already adjusted the clothes I am modeling tomorrow.“

„Of course I did. I am not a lazy piece of shit like you. I do my work on time. Now get your ass to my office, we need to have a serious conversation.“

He didn’t reply. Only groaned and hung up the call. If it was a serious conversation in her opinion, it means only one thing. Another one conversation about his life.

Mitsuki Bakugou has everything she could want. She became a fashion designer at a very young age. At the age of twenty-two, she already had her brand of clothing. Two years later she opened her own modeling agency so she always had someone to promote her brand.

In between that she somehow found a perfect husband who was currently working his ass off overseas, to spread the Bakugou’s brand. She always says that having Katsuki as a child was both a curse and blessing. He knew she loved him, but that didn’t stop her from forming him into what she wanted, not letting him choose his place in the world.

That’s how Bakugou Katsuki become the lead male model of Bakugou’s brand, earning himself the title of the most famous model of the century.

So yeah, she had everything she ever wanted. But what did she want at the moment?

Grandchild.

If only Bakugou was a girl. Then his mother wouldn’t force him to settle down and have kids. Pregnancy would destroy his body for some time before he would be able to get back into the form and she couldn’t afford to lose the leading face of her brand. But he didn’t have such luck. So the only thing he was listening to for the past year was: „When are you gonna settle down?“ and „Do you at least have a girlfriend? You never tell me anything.“

It was nice that she didn’t want him to stay alone for the rest of his life. But there was a little problem.

He was gay.

He knew it as well as he knew how homophobic his mother was. So yeah, she better not expect grandchildren from him anytime soon.

The phone in his hand buzzed and he looked at the screen to see a message. From his mother, as otherwise.

'My office. Eight o’clock.'

„Jesus Christ. One day. I wanted one day off!“ He yells into the empty apartment. His sleep was long forgotten as he threw the covers away from his body, shivering a little from the cold air in the room.

„Morning, Bakugou.“ His assistant greeted him at the reception of the main building of Bakugou’s agency.

„Fuck off, Tokoyami, I am not in the mood.“ Ignoring the smaller, black-haired boy behind the desk, he stormed towards the elevator at the end of the hall. Although, that didn’t stop the other boy from following him. He was like his shadow. Wherever he moved while he was at work, Tokoyami was only a few steps behind.

They both got into the elevator, waiting for the door to close in silence. Tokoyami didn’t ask where Bakugou was heading to. He knew his schedule better than anyone, maybe even better than the blonde himself.

„Your mother has a meeting right now, but she should be done in a few minutes.“ The black-haired boy announced. He didn’t try to pry why Bakugou was there when he had a day off. He didn’t ask stupid questions nor did he try to keep small talk with him.

That’s probably why he is the only assistant who survived longer than a week with Katsuki.

„Is she in her office?“

„No. The meeting is being held in conference room number 3.“ Tokoyami answers swiftly, not needing to search for the answer anywhere. He is pretty smart and always notices and remembers small, unnecessary details. It’s easy to work with him and that’s what Katsuki is glad for.

„Fine. I’ll be there then.“ Bakugou announced when the door of the elevator opened. Without another word, they part their ways. He walked down the long corridor he hated so much. Every time he walked down this corridor, he was either in trouble, or trouble was about to happen if he doesn’t stop it somehow.

The weird feeling in his stomach told him this time won’t be any different and deep down in his bones he felt that he won’t be able to stop the storm that was coming.

„For once you are not late.“ He stopped and grimaced slightly at the voice behind him, trying to put on a neutral look on his face before she notices it.

„I am never late.“

Mitsuki walked past him and walked first inside her office, letting Katsuki get in behind her. He walked straight to the couch in the corner of the room and sat down, waiting for his mom to put away the papers she held in her hands from the meeting. She joined him a second later, with a weirdly calm smile on her face... that’s never a good sign.

„So, Katsuki, you are already twenty-four...“

Oh shit, here we go again.

„I just wanted to ask, if you, maybe, are dating some lovely girl without me knowing?“

„No, mom. I told you I won’t date any girl anytime soon. Can you already stop asking me that?“ It took him every cell in his body to stay still and mostly calm.

He and his mother were both explosive when they started arguing. Not having the strength to go through the same thing over and over again, at one point in his life, Katsuki learned how to stay still and don’t react to any of her comments. It saved him a lot of time and wasted energy on arguments.

„That’s great. Then the marriage I arranged won’t be a problem.“

Katsuki’s head snapped towards her way too quick, quite a miracle he didn’t break his neck or something. His eyes widened and his blood started to boil in his veins while simultaneously he forgot how to breathe. He had to hear her wrong. She wouldn’t... oh wait. She’s Mitsuki Bakugo. Of course, she would.

„Excuse me?“ Katsuki growled at her through clenched teeth. His hands bailed in fists, his blunt nails digging into the flesh of his palm just to keep him calm and not blow up... yet.

„You know Camie, right. She’s one of the most popular models in our agency. Only recently did I find out that she has a huge crush on you since she started to work here. She’s really sweet and nice and with a few warm words from me, she was more than happy to agree to not only date you but straightforwardly marry you.“

She stood up to grab a coffee from her desk before she sat back down with the same calm facade and warm smile. But Katsuki knew her better than anyone. Those eyes held a silent warning in them, letting him know that something like disobeying is not an option here.

„You never had a real relationship and I kind of blame it on your personality. I have no idea what I did wrong that you end up like this but... when we finally find a woman who can accept you like you are, you can’t let this chance slip away.“

„You are fucking joking right?“ He wished so much that this is just a bad joke, maybe his mother discovered a sense of humor overnight. He wished this all to be just a nightmare, who cares that he doesn’t remember falling asleep. He wished for anything... but the reality was cruel. The reality was the words of his mother.

Mariage. Mariage. Mariage. Mariage...

„Why would I be joking about such an amazing thing? I can’t wait for you to settle down and have your own family. The marriage with Camie will also boost up your popularity so much.“ You could literally see the hearts in her eyes as she was talking about HER dreamed life.

Settle down, have family, be famous and popular, be the best in the modeling branch... that was her dream life. The life she only forced onto her son and didn’t let him breathe. Didn’t let him choose the path he wanted to go in his life...

Being a model wasn’t half as bad. The pay was more than good, he could afford everything he wanted but it wasn’t something he really wanted. What he hated the most was the lack of privacy. Seeing his face on the front pages of magazines, his half-naked photos all over the interned and social media, the constant presence of paparazzi... he hated it. Hated it all.

He just wanted to have his own life, not the life that was chosen for him.

„Just imagine it, Katsuki. Your and Camie’s wedding photos will be everywhere. Reporters will do interviews with you, you might even get on TV. I have to make sure to design Camie’s dress. So many women will want to have the same dress as her. You two will be the cutest couple in the modeling industry, I am so sure of that.“

Mitsuki continued her happy rambling, practically forgetting the fact that Katsuki was still sitting on the couch opposite of her, still trying to learn how to breathe again.

He never was too fond of the idea of getting married. If he ever will love someone, he doesn’t need a paper that will tell him that. But marriage with a woman? No, thanks. He would rather die than marry one. Don’t take him wrong, women are amazing creatures but to be honest, most of them scared him. They were so... so ... he just couldn’t imagine living his life with one of them. It was weird and unrealistic in his head.

„...so be polite tonight or we will have a problem later.“

„Tonight?“ He furrowed his brows. Half of the monologue his mother spit out was lost between his thoughts and the time when he fairly ignored her.

„Start to listen you brat!“ She shouted and Katsuki knew that if she was sitting only an inch closer, he would get smacked on his head. Thank God for the coffee table separating her from him.

„I just told you you have a date with Camie tonight. Be ready at six, my driver comes to pick you up. Don’t you dare to scare her away! You will marry her and I don’t take no as an answer. The only chance of getting out of this was if you were already dating some lady I didn’t know about, but you confirmed to me that you are still single. Like you’ve always been. And no, occasional hookups and scandals don’t count.“

He would be laughing if the situation he got himself into wasn’t that bizarre. The „occasional hookups and scandals“ she so much loves to remind him of every single time were never real. It was just something he made up with a help of a few people to get his mother off of his back, but mostly to just piss her off...

„If you don’t have anything else to say then you are free to go. I think Camie waits for you in a hall anyway.“ Mitsuki stands up and goes to sit down behind her desk, opening her laptop and pulling out some papers to work with.

Katsuki didn’t say anything after that. He simply walked out of her office, slamming the door and ignoring stares from people as he was walking down the hall towards the elevator. A girl with light brown hair and a wide smile was leaning against the wall next to the elevator, obviously waiting for him... and although he never had a problem with Camie before, right at that moment she became his biggest nightmare.

What the fuck am I supposed to do now?
