Chapter Text
Charlotte stepped into the familiar hotel, midway between London and Willingden. She would stop there every month on her trip to visit her family. Her driver knew the routine; he would drop her off at noon and pick her up at noon the next day. She needed extra rest traveling with her young son.
Checking-in they gave her the usual family room, room 106. Entering the room she put her son down for a nap before making herself confortable, changing into a thin white nightgown that in the sun’s reflection would leave nothing to the imagination.
Downstairs Sidney was also checking in to the same hotel, coincidentally enough he would also make a monthly trip from London to Sanditon and stop at the same hotel at the same time as Charlotte.
Walking down the hall, he found the familiar door and tapped the door five times. It was their secret code.
Charlotte opened the door and at the sight of her, Sidney immediately captured her lips. How he missed her and her body. He immediately carried her to the bed and ravished her like he did every time he saw her.
Laying naked in each other arms, while they recovered from their passionate lovemaking. Sidney caressed her face “My love, I have missed you.”
“So have I Sidney, I wish we had more time with each other.”
As she drew her finger down his arm, Charlotte thought of her affair with Sidney.It had started 5 years ago. Both married to other people, she to Alexander, a drunk and he to Eliza, a selfish woman. They had met at their mutual friend’s Susan dinner party, the seating arrangement had them siting next to each other. That night Sidney accidentally touched her hand and both felt an electric spark shoot down their entire bodies, something neither had felt with their current spouses. That night was the beginning of a beautiful affair. They would secretly touch, kiss and make love every moment they could get alone. They had gotten really good at finding ways and places to see each other. Their spouses were too occupied with a bottle or traveling to find the latest fashion to take notice what the other was doing.
Neither could divorce without a scandal, so they decided this was the only way until they could hopefully be together one day. They had dreams of one day living at his family’s cottage by the sea, raising their kids together. Thinking of kids, Charlotte’s mind went to her son, William. He looked so much like his mother but if you looked closely you could see some of his father’s features. The features she loved the most of Sidney. Yes, Sidney was the father of her son and would also be the father of the child she was now carrying. Her husband would often come home so drunk that he could never remember the previous night’s events and would often believed he and charlotte slept together, when in reality they had not since Charlotte and Sidney began their affair.
A cry in the other room snapped her out of her thoughts. It was their son waking up from his nap. Sidney offered to go get him for her. He was still too young to understand why Sidney was there but he loved seeing Sidney. Charlotte put on her nightgown and joined them in the other room. Observing, Sidney and William playing with the new toy he had brought his baby boy, made Charlotte tear up with both happy and sad tears.
What she wouldn’t give for them to live in this moment forever.
