Work Text:

Sophie rubs their teary eyes trying to push the thoughts of Jordan out of their mind. They’ve been repressing their regression since the two of them broke up now a few months ago. There were frequent times when Bee slipped and Sophie’s more maternal instincts kicked in. Still, there were those times occasionally when Sophie could feel themself beginning to drop while watching Bee play with her toys or cuddling up to them.

They still haven’t told Bee that they regress too, scared she’ll want to help or be their caregiver. Because that was Jordan’s job. At least it had been. They weren’t exactly sure where they stood on that anymore.

Bee comes through the door, setting down their bag and running to hug Sophie. She notices the tired look in their eyes, the tears threatening to fall. “What’s the matter, Soph?” Bee frowns. Sophie, anxious, can feel the fuzzy sensation in the back of their mind. No. This can’t happen right now.

“N-nothing…” they stammer. “I’m just tired is all… Did you have a good day?” Bee nods, kissing the top of their head.

“I did. Thank you for asking. What about your day?” Sophie shrugs, not responding to the question. Bee looks a little worried. “Do you want to lay down and rest with me? It’s not too early to go to bed.” She smiles down at Sophie, leaning over to kiss their cheek.

Sophie nuzzles into their girlfriend’s sside, still trying to fight off the fuzzy feeling threatening to take over their mind. “Mhm… and cuddles?”

“Of course, angel,” Bee laughs. She’s picked up on her partner acting much more shy and reserved than usual. Maybe cuddling will help them relax. Sophie holds Bee’s hand as she leads them to the bedroom. Sophie immediately flops down onto the large bed, still fully dressed.

“Would you like to get more comfortable?” Sophie shakes their head, reaching for one of Bee’s many stuffed animals, this one a blue dinosaur. They hug it to their chest, curling up into Bee as she lays down beside them. Something is definitely going on with Sophie.

“Would you like the light on or off?”
“Mmm… on.” Sophie replies softly. Sophie had always been scared of the dark as a child, a fear that came back when they were regressed. And as much as they didn’t want to be, they were definitely regressed. They lay with their face buried in Bee’s chest for a few minutes quietly until thoughts of Jordan flood their mind once more. They can’t stop thinking of the way he would smile down at them with their head resting in his lap, or the way he’d rub their back to get them to fall asleep. God, they miss that. Before they even realize it they’re crying. Hard. Shit.

Bee looks surprised. “Sophie, baby, what’s the matter?” she asks concerned, lifting Sophie’s chin so that they’ll look at her. Sophie shakes their head. What will Bee think if they tell her? Will she be mad? They sob harder as Bee holds them. “Whatever it is you can tell me, I won’t be upset.”

Sophie doesn’t say anything for another few minutes as they work up the courage to explain. “...Miss daddy,” they sob, hugging Bee’s stuffed animal closer to their chest. As a regressor herself Bee immediately understands.

“Shhhh shhh, are you feeling small, hon? That’s okay, I’m right here, hmm?” Sophie nods, holding up five fingers before Bee can question them further. “Why didn’t you tell me, baby?”

Sophie sniffles. “‘Cause di’n’t want you to k-know… S-scared you wanna be Mama.” Bee frowns.

“I’m sorry, Soph. I never meant for you to feel like you couldn’t tell me. Do you want to tell me who Daddy is so I can give them a call?”

“Mmm… Jo’dan,” they mumble not quite loud enough for their girlfriend to hear.

“Hmmm?”

Sophie can’t quite meet Bee’s eyes. “J-Jo’dan.” Bee nods, understanding.

“Is it okay if I call him?” Sophie nods, burrowing back into Bee’s lap. The blonde spends a few minutes on the phone before turning back to her partner. “He’s on his way, okay hon?” Sophie is quiet for the short while it takes Jordan to get to their house.
When he appears in the doorway, Sophie looks cautiously up at Bee who nods. They get off the bed, throwing themself into Jordan’s arms. Jordan offers Bee a polite smile before turning to his regressed ex. “Daddy!” they giggle, eyes welling up with tears once again.

“Mhm, I’m right here. What’s the matter?”

“Missed you,” they drag out the ‘you’ burrowing their face in his chest. He chuckles, patting their back.

“I’ve missed you too, Soph… Is this the first time that you’ve…?” He doesn’t have to finish the question. All three of them know what he’s getting at. Shyly Sophie nods, and Jordan and Bee exchange a look.

“‘s fine though ‘cause you’re here nowwww!”

“Yeah, I guess so.” Sophie pouts.

“You mad at me?” Jordan shakes his head.

“Just worried about you, hon. If you ever need anything you know you can always come to Bee or me, right?” Sophie nods, resting their head on his shoulder.

“Bee cuddle too!” Sophie is clearly struggling to stay awake at this point. Bee pats the bed.

“There’s room for all of us,” she says, shrugging. So the three of them get into the bed, Sophie in the middle cuddled up to Jordan while they hold Bee’s hand.

“Good night, little one,” Jordan whispers.

“‘ove you guys,” Sophie mumbles before falling quickly asleep.
