Vampires

Summary:

Super old drabbles that I wrote years ago, well before Arcane but I was going through my google drive and thought why not?

Work Text:

Empty

There was very little in the dark.  It was strange that they had named The Void as such when it was clearly overflowing with monsters, replacing the work Vayne had accomplished in Runeterra.  Clearly the real void was here, in the still quiet streets of Piltover.

She prepared in times like this, when there were no visible monsters:  practicing, training herself, making bolts, and researching endlessly. Vayne was cold, relentless in her work.

It was simple, dull and pure.

There was no feeling in the preparation.

Purity

Vayne did not eat before matches.  Killing was easier on an empty stomach. And besides that, an impure body would be her downfall. She dressed immaculately for battle, clean nails under clean gauntlets, cleaned and purified silver bolts notched for her crossbow.

She had not needed to be nerfed when she was placed in the league.  She was an ordinary non-magical human without formal training.

The edge of a biting hunger made her fierce.  Her bolts bloomed red in her enemies backs.

Even monsters bled red.

Vayne wore black so that her blood wouldn’t show.  The linens stained crinkled in reality but in the league they came back pure, clean.

Summoners would pick her because of her high damage outputs and devotion to a single enemy.  She would bring down her mark. She was pure, and easy to build, they said.

Like they were the ones finishing her.

Full

When Vayne fought monsters, the emptiness vanished from her life.  Fighting was active, electric, vivid and bloody.

There was no greater feeling than a kill.

She was making herself pure.

Corruption

“What are you trying to accomplish purifying me? What are you trying to turn me into?”

“What do you even want; I’m the only hemomancer in existence.”

“You’re a monster.”

Vlad smiled.

Vayne’s lips were kiss bruised sore.

“I kill monsters.”

“You pathetic little girl” Vladimir’s smiled.

“I will destroy you.” Vayne menaced with her crossbow.

“Good luck with that”

Vladmir controlled her blood and by extension herself.  Vayne knew that he could kill her at any point.  But the league had its benefits.  The summoners had enchanted it to make death impermanent and the people to be evenly powered.  She would survive the match and learn from them.  This was practice.

She would murder him.

And she would purify the world.
