Chapter Text
Gold Mask stared at the blurry road as the vehicle drove on. He could feel a major burning sensation from to where his neck had been swiped at, the pain reaching to his head. He just shut his eyes, ignoring it.
It didn't matter anyways. His brothers were dead, and he was a shame of their legacy. Some brother he was...
He didn't open his eyes again until the vehicle came to a stop, causing him to jerk forward a bit. He hissed, neck aching from the slight whiplash. He opened his eyes, looking at gleaming red armor standing in front of him.
He looked up at Magnum, only to look away when seeing the sad smile on the other leaguer's face. "Come on, Gold Mask. Let's get your leg checked." He spoke softly, reaching to help the green leaguer up.
Gold Mask avoided the touch as if it'd burn him, getting up on his own. "I can help myself." He jumped off after Mach Windy, grinding his teeth in response to the pain going up his leg.
He just kept quiet and limped towards Silver Castle's building, not seeing the shared worried look between Mach Windy and Magnum Ace. The two caught up with him, reaching the garage door.
Now they'd have to be quiet about it so they wouldn't alert the others. Mach Windy reached to lift the door up, for it to open up. A bright light flashed in the three leaguer's faces, startling them.
"Magnum Windy! We thought you were still at Dark! We were coming to get you when we saw Coach-" Bull Armor came to a pause, taking notice of Gold Mask's condition. He blinked, quickly taking notice of Mach Windy's injured condition as well.
"What did you do?" He approached them, ready to scold Windy for coming back in such a state. He'd leave Mask's scolding to his older brothers.
"Magnum offered to help me with something, Mach Windy tagged along. There were complications, so I had to come back with your teammates. That's all." Gold Mask answered simply.
"What about your brothers?"
"They're dead."
Shock came from the group behind Bull Armor, who was silent. Gold Mask could see the pity forming in football player's eyes.
"I-" "Don't. It won't reverse what's been done." Gold Mask cut Bull Armor off, a hardened expression on his face.
Bull Armor resigned, and gave a nod. "Go on to repair with Windy then." Mask was surprised the football leaguer noticed the invisible injury, but did what he was told.
Whispers came from the group after they went inside. Bull Armor walked up next to Magnum, leaning close.
"What happened out there, Magnum?" He whispered, concerned. Magnum gave him a side glance. "I can't tell you. Not now, that is." Bull Armor huffed before eyeing Magnum.
"Get your ass to repair, Magnum. Can't believe I didn't notice the leak on your chest before." Bull Armor pulled Magnum along down to repair bay.
Gold Mask was sitting up as one of the human engineers worked on his leg, watching the two walk in. Magnum immediately asked over to check on Mask as Bull Armor searched for a med patch to mend Ace's chest leak.
He turned, watching the two have a quiet conversation(it was actually just Magnum talking to a quiet Mask).
He waited a few moments until Magnum was done talking, walking over. He gave no warning to slapping the patch on, causing the other to jolt.
He earned a side eye from his friend, but he just gave a smile. "I did tell you earlier I'd give you a patch." He laughed at Magnum's disapproving headshake.
He looked to Gold Mask, then to the injured leg. He took notice of the soldered metal. "Guess you'll be staying with us while your leg heals, hm?"
Gold Mask simply shrugged, getting twin stares from Bull Armor and Magnum. He looked away, rolling his neck a bit. Damn blades... Damn Gold Foot...
Gold Mask looked at the ground, closing his eyes. He took in a deep breath. He wouldn't let them see him cry. He wished they'd just left him there with his brothers. If only he was useful...
"Big brothers! I'll definitely come back to save you!"
What a liar he was...
He opened his eyes again when he heard footsteps walking away. 'Finally, I'm alone.' He opened his eyes and looked up, only to meet the eyes of Magnum. He made a surprised noise, startled. "You're still here?" He gruffed, eyes narrowing.
With that expression. Magnum was reminded of how similar Gold Mask looked to his red brother. He quickly looked off the side, then back at Gold Mask. He came a step closer.
"I know you're hurting, Gold Mask, but you shouldn't have to hurt alone." He said firmly. Gold Mask frowned and looked away. "My feelings aren't your business." "Mask, I-"
"Just fuck off!" He hissed, looking at Magnum with anger. "I don't want to talk about it! I don't even wanna think about it!" He got off the bed he was on, talking a step towards Magnum. He poked a hard finger at Magnum's chest.
"You're too helpful, you know that? Sticking your nose into others' businesses." He pushed again. "I don't appreciate it. I wish you just let me fall down that damn compactor instead of making me watch my big brothers die." His voice choked.
Magnum kept silent, looking at Gold Mask's distraught face. He grew alarmed when he noticed the other began to lean back. Steam hissed as it blew from Gold Mask's neck.
Magnum caught the other before he hit the floor, panicked. "Mask!" Magnum shook the Gold Brother, receiving a pained noise from him. Magnum could see the injury even more clear now.
"Mask, why didn't you tell us?" Magnum scoured for a patch quickly to ease the pain. Gold Mask simply seemed to refused to stay still for it.
Just as Magnum managed to smack the patch on the squirming leaguer, he heard the other whimper out a few words before passing out.
"It didn't matter."
