Goku pulled off the last parts of his sweaty gi and breathed a deep sigh of relief. No matter how much he enjoyed training, stripping the clothes off afterwards always felt so freeing. He took a big gulp of mountain air and let it out slowly. He loved being up here, especially with his wife.
Wife…
The term still sounded strange to him and it didn’t matter if it was in his head or said out loud. He knew what marriage was – especially after a year of being married – but he continued to linger on the words associated with it. My wife meant something special and even though he didn’t understand it completely, Goku felt warmth in his chest whenever he connected that phrase to Chi-Chi.
Chi-Chi – his wife – had come up the mountain to train with him. How could he be lucky enough to marry someone who could fight with him like this? Even now, he smiled at the memory from a few hours ago.
Of moving around the practically untouched mountain field. Of swinging at each other and jumping through the air. Grinning the whole time as she came at him again and again and again. That certain determined look on her face…
“Goku!” Chi-Chi’s voice broke him from his reminiscing. “Stop standing there and get in the water. You stink!”
With a chuckle, Goku went right to Chi-Chi – his wife – and plunged into the pool of water near the small waterfall. He heard her shriek and laugh and playfully shout at him, but he had a few games to play yet. There were all sorts of fun things to do with her in the water, after all.
