Work Text:

The Ghost soared though the air like it was brand new. The planet of Lothal was free and the people rejoiced by cheering loudly for their heroes.

"Looks like the people are with you, General Syndulla." Kallus stated with a grin.

"And if the Empire wants a fight, we'll be ready for them." Hera looked to the sky with fierce determination.

Kanan took her hand in his own and turned to her. "I'd like to see them try and stop us."

Sabine placed a hand on Ezra shoulder, his eyes had teared up as he gazed out the cockpit's viewpoint, beaming with extreme joy and a final feeling of accomplishment for his people.

Looking around, Zeb had wrapped an arm around Kallus and Rex began laughing in joy with Chopper and Mart as they watched the triumphant crowd below.

Hera placed a hand on her stomach, it was the perfect time to talk to Kanan.

She leaned in close and whispered in his ear. "Love, can I...steal you for a second?"

He turned to face her and grinned. "Of course. Everything alright?"

She nodded her head as they exited the cockpit and entered their room. "Yes... It's more than alright, actually."

Kanan gave an intrigued smirk as the door slid shut. "What is it?"

Hera took his hands and gazed into his eyes. Though her nerves were at their highest now, she couldn't help but feel a wave of calmness wash over her. His loving gaze never failed to assure her everything would be okay.

"I need to tell you something," she began. "Something we've always hoped I'd be able to tell you someday."

Kanan's gaze because softer, it wasn't often they had a day like this and he was genuinely happy to hear it would be getting better.

Significantly better, actually. But he didn't know that yet.

"Hm?"

Hera took a deep breath before squeezing his hands. "Kanan I'm pregnant."

It took a second for Kanan to realize the moment was actually reality and not some perfect dream. Hera didn't know humans could open their eyes so wide.

He stumbled backwards, grasping her arms to balance himself as he did. His eyes became watery and after breathing for a second he shot her an intense look in the eyes.

"Hera is this really happening please tell me."

She nodded. "Yes," she smiled through her own teary eyes.

All of a sudden he lifted and embraced her in the biggest, tightest, hug she'd ever received.

"Hera," He said, voice breaking due to his emotions. "This is amazing I-I can't believe it. We've been trying for so long I just-"

Hera reached her down and wrapped her arms around his head. "I know love."

After a few moments he let her down, her arms falling around his shoulders just in time to grasp him when he embraced her once more, this time accompanied by a slight dip and a hard, passionate, kiss.

"You are the most amazing woman in the galaxy Hera Syndulla." he breathed.

After releasing from the embrace Hera cupped his cheek. "I found out this morning."

He smiled at her with the most lovesick grin as his hands made their way down her torso and to her stomach. "I love both of you with everything I am."

She smiled back. "We love you too, dear."

They slowly leaned in and joined lips for another kiss, this one lasting and full of sweetness.

When they departed Kanan gave that lovey-dovey grin again before dropping on one knee and kissing her stomach.

Hera brought her arms around his shoulders when he stood once more.

"We should probably tell the others," she said after a while.

He gently pulled her in closer, causing their foreheads to touch. "In a few minutes, I want to save this moment."

"Alright love," Hera replied.

They continued to hold their little light close in the center, thinking of the joy that was yet to come.
