Work Text:
To Summon The Supreme Beings Once Again
"օɦ, աɛ ֆʊʍʍօռ ȶɦɛɛ, ֆʊքʀɛʍɛ ɮɛɨռɢ աɦօ օռƈɛ ʀʊʟɛɖ ֆʊքʀɛʍɛ." In a place far from prying eyes were a group of 'people' bowing, and praying, in front of an altar flowing in blood who chanted with dull voices and blank faces. Their bodies trembled from exhaustion but yet they continued calling, their bony hands were clasped together as they prayed and their knees ached as they rubbed against the floor, their bodies became thin and was resembling a skeleton from how little time they've had to eat, but not once did they complain.
They weren't always alone, when news first broke out that they'd found a way to summon their beloved masters everybody flocked together and watched the rituals with enthusiasm and excitement, while a small portion of people ran and tried to hide. When the first few rituals occurred and failed, hope fell a little, but with the absurd amount of supreme beings they didn't lose their hope, one would surely answer.
However, that was 2,000 years ago... now, only this small group of 'people' continue the rituals, for the chance that just one would answer their call. Within the years, there was a large change in perspective of the Supreme Beings, especially regarding those who were once slaughtered for fun when they were around. That change brought upon the realisation that even though the Supreme Beings were unnecessarily cruel, they held everyone together and remained in order.
Since their disappearance, there has been more bloodshed and wars occurring between their creations, causing loss and death on a level they had never seen before. Races were completely wiped out while those who once feared the Supreme Beings pray endlessly for their return. Because even if they are killed by the Supreme Beings, they would soon grow bored of their lowly selves and would leave them alone, the complete opposite of their creations who use their blood and flesh for materials and their lives as weapons.
So within a lowly damp cave was a representative of each race, their most beloved and talented of their kind, circled an abandoned altar and prayed for their saviours to return in exchange for their lives.
Beneath them, the ground trembled as the magic circulating the altar exploded, the ritual had failed once more. The representatives didn't utter a sound but quietly, and gently, altered the altar to call upon a different Supreme Being.

After they adjusted the altar, black magic poured out of the altar and caused the representatives to convulse and heavily gasp before the magic settled within the altar, despite the disturbance they placed themselves in front of the altar once more and started to pray. Their bodies screamed at them to rest but they all ignored it, even when it felt like leaning over to pray would snap their spine, they endured the pain and once more called for a Supreme Being.

Once again, they started the ritual and internally begged for the Being to answer their call. Their blank eyes looked on empty as they watched the altar lose its concentration of mana and prepared themselves against the blast, but they never stopped calling and continued chanting despite seeing failure in sight. As expected, the ritual exploded, flooding the room with death and causing the walls to crumble and their clothes to tear, however, it was far from over.
The exploded energy didn't dissipate but continued to grow bigger and stronger. For the first time in a while, hope flashed in their eyes as they started shouting towards the sphere of mana, as if the sphere was alive, it fluttered and wiggled in place before shooting up towards the sky with a speed that far passed those with the highest agility in the world. As the sphere continued rising, the ground trembled and a harsh sound echoed in their ears. They weren't the only ones affected as everyone on the planet looked up in astonishment, fear, confusement, and many other emotions as they wondered what would happen with this sphere of darkness after it finished its goal.
The ascent of the orb finally slowed before exploding in the sky, dark magic quickly spread and filled the atmosphere with its oppressive might as it blocked all light from shining down on the planet's inhabitants. After the release, every living being crumbled and fell to the floor and stared at the orb in terror before a little blue screen flashed through their eyes changing the fear into ecstasy.

Within the darkness, a pair of eyes with a red, ethereal glow stared down at the inhabitants of the world with a dazed gleam, the inhabitants in return unconsciously avoided the stare and kowtowed to the Supreme Being who answered their call. The eyes belonging to the Supreme Being finally moved and locked onto the group of people directly below him and uttered in a deep and baritone voice,
"You... Why... Have... You... Summoned... Me...?"
Momongas' voice alone was enough to feel their souls tearing from the power carried by his voice, but their bodies have accumulated enough resistance from the countless failures which gave them the opportunity to stand and look at their saviour with a desperate and affectionate gaze, "Please, Oh Mighty God, even if it sounds selfish and unworthy of our pathetic selves, please return to us and rule over us once more...!"
"Uhh... I'm tired." Groaned Suzuki Satoru as he entered his apartment after a long day of work. With familiarity, he moved through the dull rooms and sluggishly made his way into his bedroom before collapsing tiredly on his bed, still dressed in his work clothes however he couldn't find energy left in him to care. The day had finally caught up to him and his eyes started closing on their own despite him fighting to keep them open, how could he possibly fall asleep when he knows he will be up and out again when he opens them once more?
But like usual, his body betrayed his thoughts and fell into a slumber.
What must have been a few hours later, Suzuki heard muttering in his ears and sluggishly lifted his hands to cover his ears, despite his efforts though he could still hear the muttering echoing around his head. With annoyance, he peeled open his eyes and was greeted with a scene he would normally see in video games or movies, trees and grass, sky and water. When his eyes adjusted, he noticed he could also see small dots all across the land as well as minute buildings bundled together, it was like looking over a toy display somebody had made for a science fair or something along that scope.

Suzuki didn't know how to respond so he could only call for his status screen when the familiar rows of text appeared before him, except for the additional 200% increase and his level limit removed, his stats and status were the same as that of his game avatar, Momonga from Yggdrasil. But before he continued to explore his status and whether what he was experiencing was real... he had to know why he of all people was summoned.
"You... Why... Have... You... Summoned... Me...?"
...
This is where this story ends but it holds so much potential for more, such as...
- introducing the other guild members
- Momonga rules the world while he sleeps and salary man by day, of course with the bonus he can change worlds whenever he wishes so he isn't limited by the factor to switch by sleeping
- perhaps having the whole human race transfer to this world while they sleep and the social statuses change based on their avatar in another world, but for the whole human race to transfer someone had to manually transfer themselves first to allow the awakening to happen.
- if everyone is transferred, remove the level limit for everyone but Momonga keeps his 200% bonus for being the first, as well as being the most loved Supreme Being
- The story could be made into a crossover with another story where they hold a similar background, such as multiple races or a world with magic etc.
I don't see myself ever finishing this so if you like this and wish to continue it then go ahead! If you do so, please send me a link with your story as I would love to read it, of course, if it only holds some resemblance I would also want to read it you don't have to limit yourself to my ideas :D
Thanks For Reading
