"Please, stay."
As soon as the words left Shigaraki's mouth, he regretted saying them.
Dabi looked at him as if he had said the last thing he was waiting to hear, and Shigaraki knew that that was probably the case. Not even himself believed that he had actually said it.
In Tomura's defense, he was not in his best mind right now. His sensei had just been locked up, he had no idea what to do now without the man's guidance and Kurogiri was nowhere to be found as well, looking for something Shigaraki wasn't even sure he knew what it was.
So now, both villains were looking at each other, as if each had grown a second head. Shigaraki and Dabi weren't the closer ones in their little group, that spot taken by Toga, Twice and Magne, but they were close enough for them to talk about things aside missions and plans sometimes. Which didn't mean much, if they’re being honest. But at the same time, it meant everything. So the request was a bit weird, but Shigaraki really didn't feel like being alone at the moment. In fact, the last thing he wanted was to be left alone. Being alone meant being alone with his thoughts, having to acknowledge everything that was going through his mind, and that was the last thing he wanted.
He should've asked anyone else to keep him company. Dabi was annoying, he would never let Shigaraki hear the last of it, and would probably laugh at his face as an answer. Shigaraki should've known better than to ask the raven anything of the type, even if he was the only one he wanted to be with right now.
So when Dabi whispered a breathless "Okay," and sat down beside him in bed, Shigaraki's breath hitched and his insides burned with something he wasn't even sure what was.
"Okay?" Tomura asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.
They were sitting down on Tomura's bed, Shigaraki with his back to the headboard and Dabi in front of him, closer than they ever had gotten before. Vibrant blue eyes analyzed the whitehaired's face, as if he was searching for any sign that Shigaraki didn't actually want any of this, but he wouldn't find one. He could search how many times he wanted, but all he would find was certainty, with a little bit of shyness.
"Yeah, mophead." Dabi said, their gazes locked. "Okay."
Tomura's breath hitched one more time, and he broke eye contact, looking anywhere but at the boy in front of him. How to make things not awkward? He needed to find something to talk about, needed to find a way to keep Dabi there, to keep him close. Shigaraki wasn't sure if he would be able to take it if he saw the raven leave the room anytime soon.
Thankfully, Dabi was the one who broke the silence. "Tell me about the new videogame you stole the other day. I saw you playing it yesterday."
That made Tomura relax against the headboard, his chest getting lighter and his heart starting to beat normal again. "It's just a game about..." and then he kept talking for a while, Dabi every now and then asking questions about the game, showing that he was really paying attention to what the other was saying.
It was everything so... Unlike them. Just keeping each other company wasn't something they used to do, not even close to that. They usually wanted distance from each other, Dabi getting on Tomura's nerves and vice-versa.
Except that wasn't true. They just happened to want that to be the case, but both knew they needed each other, they wanted each other. It was a weird codependency that neither saw coming, that probably no one in the world saw coming. If someone had told any of them a few months back that this would be them, both would have laughed, but now... Now it all just felt right. Like they belonged right next to each other from the start.
At some point in their conversation, they got closer. Dabi's hand was now too close to Tomura's to go unnoticed, making Shigaraki blush even if nothing was happening. Thank god the room was dark, only the moonlight illuminating it a bit, just enough for them to see each other, but not enough to notice the little details. It was just what both needed, or else they would cross a line they weren't sure they were ready to.
"I'm sorry, I'm talking your ears off, aren't I?"
Dabi shrugged. "I asked about the game, didn't I?"
Shigaraki bit his lower lip, then nodded. "You did."
They stayed silent for a while, just looking anywhere in the room but at each other. When the silence was getting too much, Dabi spoke again. "You know," he started, their eyes meeting once again. "It's fine to feel sad about all of this,"
Shigaraki furrowed his eyebrows. "All of this?"
Dabi nodded. "About your sensei," he said. "About Kurogiri."
Just the mention of his father figure's, the latter one, name made Shigaraki want to cry, but he would never do it in front of another person. Even if he trusted the other with his life.
Tomura could only shrug. "Sensei will be fine," the boy answered, then looked down, noticing how close their hands were. "And Kurogiri... He's a tough one, wherever he is, he'll know how to deal with it."
Dabi hummed. "Well, if you say so."
The silence took over again, but this time it was a comfortable one. Even if he would rather die than admit it, Shigaraki enjoyed the raven's presence so much that just being around each other made him relax. And Dabi seemed to know that, because he would get near Tomura everytime he noticed the other was stressed out, seeming to know exactly what to do to calm down Shigaraki.
Tomura looked down at their hands one more time, both still being close. If Shigaraki moved his pinky just a bit, it would brush against Dabi's.
And for some reason, that was what he did. He moved his pinky just a bit, their skins meeting. A wave of electricity ran through Tomura's body, even if it didn't mean anything and was probably making things weird.
But then Dabi's pinky curled around Shigaraki's, linking both together, making the younger one's breath hitch for the third time that night. He hated how weak Dabi made him.
Shigaraki looked up, finding that the raven was already looking at him, his eyes searching his face for anything that showed this was a prank, that he didn't mean to touch their fingers together. But Dabi, once again, wouldn't find anything. This was exactly what Tomura wanted, exactly where he wanted to be.
Blue met red. Shigaraki was never a fan of the color purple, but it looked beautiful on Dabi. His scars were not pretty, they were far from that, but Shigaraki found them the most beautiful thing in the world. They were everything he ever wanted, they were proof that Dabi was just like him, that they were one and the same.
"Tomura..." Dabi whispered, their faces getting closer. His name on the other boy's lips made Shigaraki shiver all over, his heart skipping a beat. No one had ever said his name like that, like it was something good, like it belonged to someone that mattered.
Like it was everything they ever wanted.
"Say it again, please." The words left Shigaraki's mouth before he could control them, but Dabi only smiled at him.
"Tomura," he whispered once again, his other hand finding its way to Shigaraki's hair, fingers carding through the short hairs on the other's nape. Their noses brushed, suddenly both were breathing the same air. "Tomura." he said one last time, before closing the gap between them.
If someone told Shigaraki that this was how his day was going to end, he would've never believed them. But here he was, being kissed by the only one for him, by the boy he couldn't stand but at the same time meant everything to him.
Shigaraki had been kissed before, but it had been such a long time since then that he was a little lost. Fortunately, Dabi seemed to know exactly what to do. The raven's tongue touched the other's mouth like it was the most sacred thing in the world, like it was what he had always wanted. And maybe it was. He wasn't even sure anymore, all he knew was that Tomura was kissing him back and that was more than enough for him to shove his tongue even further, wanting to feel every inch of the leader's mouth, wanting to memorize every bit of it.
Until then, Shigaraki's body was frozen, only his mouth moving, but suddenly his arms enveloped the raven's waist, Dabi's other hand now free to find its way to the other side of Tomura's nape, his fingers feeling just how soft Shigaraki's hair was, shockingly so. When the younger one's arms tightened their hold, Dabi sighed contently against Tomura's mouth, receiving a low moan back, swallowing it down happily.
When they pulled back, both stayed still, their lips so close they were almost touching. With a smile, Dabi kissed Tomura's nose, then his cheek, then right under the other's eye, then his forehead, then the other cheek and then his mouth once again.
This was everything both ever wanted. And now that they had a bit of its taste, they knew it wasn't going to be enough. They needed more, they needed to be closer, they needed...
Suddenly, someone started knocking on the door, both pulling away quickly. "Dinner's ready!" Toga's voice filled the room through the door. Just as fast as she came, she went away, leaving them in the afterglow of what just happened.
The two villains stared at each other, eyes searching for regret, but only found want. Need .
"We should..." Shigaraki started to say, at the same time Dabi said "Tomura,", their gazes locking once again. Shigaraki looked expectantly at the other, so Dabi took a deep breath before continuing.
"I-I don't want this to be a one time thing," he said. The younger one was pretty sure he was going to die right then and there, but he tried to maintain his posture. "I... Fuck, why is this so fucking hard?"
"Dabi," Tomura held the other's hand, intertwining their fingers together. "I don't want this to be a one time thing too," he said, placing his other hand to the boy's face, one finger up always. When Dabi didn't even flinch with his touch, Shigaraki almost kissed him again. "I hate to admit this, but fuck, I like you. I fucking like you, okay? So don't worry about it."
Dabi seemed to relax at the words, a grin forming on his face. "You like me, huh?"
Tomura rolled his eyes, letting go of Dabi's hands and getting up. "And you ruined it," He started walking to the door, knowing that the raven was following him. "How can you be so fucking annoying, patchwork?"
"You can say all the shit you want, you said you liked me and that's all that matters." Dabi answered, slinging one arm around the other's shoulders.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever,"
Finally, they felt like they belonged somewhere. Even if it was in each other's arms.
