Chapter Text
minho woke up to the sound of his blaring alarm.
upon turning it off, he could hear the muffled sounds of clattering pans coming from the kitchen.
he ran a hand down his face as he groaned at being woken up.
the honey haired boy wasn't surprised he felt so exhausted. who could ever get used to a monday morning?
minho reluctantly pulled back his bedding as he began to get himself ready for the day.
after taking a quick shower, he got himself changed into a khaki crew neck sweatshirt over a pair of plain blue jeans.
he only ruffled his hair to look presentable as he didn't feel like making too much of an effort that morning.
with one last look in the mirror, he grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs. minho placed his backpack against the kitchen island before sitting down on a stool opposite his housemate.
"morning min!" the older smiled as he set down a plate in front of minho. "i made you special monday morning pancakes with extra syrup!"
"thanks chan." minho replied as he tucked into his breakfast. chan smiled at him and took the seat opposite.
minho and his friends all went to the same high school. chan was in the year above minho and so didn't have to come into school for his lessons until 11am everyday.
chan always felt so lonely when minho would leave for school, it meant that he would have to face a quiet house for a few more hours.
for that reason, chan always made sure to be awake before minho so that he could make him breakfast before he left for school.
that way, he would also get to see his housemate of a morning. chan really did love being around his friends.
minho was halfway through his breakfast and could see chan looking at him with a concerned expression.
"i know what you're going to ask..." the younger sighed as he kept his eyes down, continuing to eat.
"you just look deep in thought, min." chan sighed, "you look the same every monday morning, and i know it's not just because it's the start of another school week" chan spoke in a soft voice.
minho stopped chewing and swallowed his mouthful. he moved his hands around before letting them rest on the counter top as he lightly sighed.
chan could always see right through him, he wasn't sure if it was comforting or just plain creepy.
regardless, minho couldn't deny that chan was right. he was always thinking the same thing of a monday morning.
'in what state would jisung be in after being with his boyfriend over the weekend?'
in the beginning, jisung and his boyfriend, won-jae, had been the perfect match for each other.
it was quickly obvious to minho and the rest of his friends just how quickly jisung had fallen head-over-heels in love with him.
jisung had sparkles in his eyes whenever he talked about him, mainly raving about what the pair had done together that week.
however that all soon changed as after 2 months of their relationship, everything changed for the worse when something hit jisung.
literally.
won-jae had physically hit his boyfriend.
at the time it had happened jisungs heart had broke. he had fled his boyfriends house, scared to ever face him again.
the next day however, won-jae had called him over to apologise profusely. he had explained that it was a drunken mistake and he had never truly meant it.
jisung immediately forgave him and decided to write it off completely, he was more than relieved that won-jae had assured him that it would never happen again.
only it did happen again, and had been happening on numerous occasions spanning over the last 6 months of their relationship.
won-jae didn't always assault his boyfriend physically, but jisungs friends noticed his once bubbly personality had certainly been affected.
they easily recognised the psychological signs of abuse jisung was experiencing.
unfortunately on the now rare occasion that jisung would see his friends, either in or out of school, he would always dismiss their concerns when they noticed a visible mark indicating he'd been physically hurt.
they had also noticed that jisung had become much quieter and was extremely apologetic over tiny things that didn't matter.
still, jisung was always quick to defend his boyfriends actions, he told them that any physical incident was 'not intended' or that it was a cause of won-jae's 'drunken mistake'.
the one excuse his friends couldn't bare to hear was always jisung insisting.
'it was completely my fault.'
minho especially was taking jisungs suffering harder than anyone else.
he'd fallen in love with jisung in the previous year, only realising how deep his feelings truly were a few months before jisung had gotten into a relationship with won-jae.
what hurt minho even more was how jisung endured it all. jisung was undeniably in love with won-jae and was blind to the ways that won-jae was actually affecting him.
it wasn't jisungs fault of course, won-jae was exceptionally manipulative and always knew exactly what to do or say so that jisung wanted to stay in the relationship.
although his friends couldn't bare to see him get treated so badly, chan had explained that jisung wasn't mentally strong enough to hear their true negative opinions of the relationship as jisung was now almost completely dependent on won-jae.
the last thing the group wanted to do was cause jisung anymore pain,. if they were to lose jisung as a friend they would never forgive themselves.
they came to a decision that it was best for them to keep quiet and be there in support when jisung needed them.
this was usually when jisung would have to spend time apart from his boyfriend and so would need all the comfort he could get.
after all, jisung now hated to be alone.
the seven friends also found themselves comforting jisung often as won-jae was known to attend many parties that jisung would almost always attend with him.
sometimes, jisung would enjoy himself and the night spent with his boyfriend would be a dream. yet other times, won-jae would end up drinking too much which caused him to become easily agitated and aggressive.
if jisung was ever in his way, won-jae never hesitated to take his aggression out on his boyfriend.
the two of them had been in a relationship for over 6 months now and, as won-jae's toxic behaviour showed no signs of stopping, minho had made it a habit to meet changbin before school every morning.
the first thing they would do is wait for won-jae's car to pull up into the schools car park.
jisung would stay at his boyfriends house almost every day of the week and, as they attended the same school, they would always drive in together.
the second thing minho and changbin would do, was make sure jisung looked happy that morning.
if he didn't, then they would know to try and cheer him up.
it was a small gesture that went unknown to the younger, but it brought comfort to jisung's friends to know exactly how he was feeling that morning.
minho knew that chan, along with the rest of their friend group, were all well aware of how deeply in love minho was with jisung.
whenever something bad had happened, the group would always comfort jisung first and then minho secretly in second.
they all knew how much it was hurting minho to watch jisung slowly lose himself to love.
love,
minho thought,
won-jae did not deserve.
