ALPHA
Alpha's are the top of the secondary genders. They make up 25 percent of the current population. They are taller, stronger, faster, and have heightened senses. Their scent and pheromones are the strongest of the three sub-genders. Alpha's tend to be more aggressive, and also more protective especially over family and their mates. They are usually the dominant ones in relationships. Alpha's can use their pheromones to make the other sub-genders submit to them, it works best on omega's, but does have some effect on beta's. They possess what is commonly referred to as an "Alpha Voice" which is basically a very commanding tone that omegas, and betas, feel compelled to obey. Alpha's also have a "Croon" which is like a deep rumbling sound (basically a purr) that helps to calm or comfort their omega or their pups. All alphas are able to impregnate people, but only a female Alpha can get pregnant because male Alphas don't have a womb. The probability is only 2 percent though.
BETA
Beta's are the middle of the secondary genders. They make up 50 percent of the population. They are basically everyday average people. They have a scent but it is weak and barely noticeable, and they can not control it like an alpha or omega. Beta's are below alpha's but still above omega's. Beta's can have any kind of appearance, there isn't really a set expectation for them. They don't go through ruts or heats but they can still bond. They tend to mate with other beta's, but can mate with alpha's. Male beta's cannot get pregnant and female beta's cannot impregnate anyone. Female beta's can get pregnant by male alphas, and male beta's.
OMEGA
Omegas are the bottom and last of the sub-genders. Omega's make up 25 percent of the population, and only 5 percent of those are male. Omega's are the submissive in relationships. Appearance wise they tend to be shorter, smaller, delicate, and feminine. Omega's can use their pheromones to affect others, and display emotion. These pheromones can convey many things from distress when afraid or worried, to lust when going into heat. They can be calming for a child, or mate and arousing to alpha's. Both male and female Omega's can get pregnant. Male omegas pregnancy's only last six months, not the traditional nine months.
HEAT
Heat's are a biological thing that omega's go through. An omega goes into heat every other month, and it lasts from five to seven days. During a heat an omega will self lubricate (usually referred to as "Slick") in order to prepare to take an alpha's knot. Omega's are most fertile during heats and they crave an alpha's knot because their body is demanding for them to breed. The omega will have pain in their lower abdomen if not sexually sated during their heat.
SLICK
Slick is a sweet smelling and tasting substance that is secreted by an omega in heat. It is a translucent self lubrication that helps an omega except an alpha's member and knot.
NEST - NESTING
During heats, pregnancies or any other stressful times, an omega might nest. Nesting is a process in which an Omega craves warmth and comfort so they will choose a small space, like a closet, and gather blankets, pillows, clothing, anything soft really and especially anything with their alpha's, children and people who make them feel safe scent on it and build a nest to cuddle up in.
RUT
Rut's are a biological thing that Alphas go through. During a rut the alpha will be easily agitated and aggressive. The alpha will also be extremely horny because their body wants them to knot and breed. An alphas rut happens twice a year, and lasts about three or four days.
KNOT
A Knot is kind of like a bulb type thing in an Alpha's penis that swells when they are aroused and keeps them locked inside their Omega during sex to increase chances of getting the Omega pregnant, this is called knotting.
PHEROMONES
Pheromones are a scent that alphas and omegas release that can convey their emotions, or to help calm and relax others. For instance if an omega is hurt or scared they let off distress pheromones. And an alpha will let out calming, or protective pheromones.
SCENTING
Everyone has a scent, and scent glands. Alphas and omega's scents are stronger than the beta's. People in omega verse usually have four scent glands, two on the neck and one on each wrist. When the glands are stimulated their scent becomes more potent and sticks to whatever or whoever is closest. Scenting is the process of someone spreading their own unique scent onto things or people in an act of comfort or possession. To scent something or some one, the gland is rubbed against the item or person. Scenting is very calming especially between mate's
BONDING
When an omega is in heat is usually the best time for an alpha to bond with them. A bond is formed between the alpha and omega when they mate and the alpha ejaculates inside the omega. This also leaves behind a lingering scent of the alpha.
MARKING
Marking is achieved by biting into a scent gland hard enough to draw blood and eventually scar. The alpha's venom then infuses with the omega's scent gland, this ties the two people together mentally, physically, and emotionally. It also infuses both with each other's scent permanently, which tells others that they are taken. Like, a really extreme marriage.
MATE'S
A mate is the one particular person whose scent is intoxicating to the other. An alpha is drawn to the scent of an omega in heat but can fight against it, unless that omega is their mate. The same goes the other way round. Basically their perfect match, their soulmate.
SUPPRESSANTS
Heat suppressants are pills that an omega takes to reduce the effects of their heat. The pills lessen the intensity of the omegas scent, and pain. Though taking the suppressants for long periods of time can be damaging to the omega.
Rut suppressants are pills that an alpha takes to reduce the effects of their rut. The pills make the alphas less aggressive, and help keep them calm. Though taking the suppressants for long periods of time can be damaging to the alpha.
Rogue's
Rogue alpha's and Omega's are almost the same as the others with just a few exceptions.
Rogue Alpha
The differences a rogue alpha has to a typical alpha is that they are not affected in any ways by an omegas sent, other than their fated mate/s. An omega in full heat could be sitting in a rogue alpha's lap and said alpha wouldn't bat an eye unless that omega was fated mate/s. Their senses are 3 - 4 times better then the average alpha. They have a heightened immune system witch means they never get sick and heal 3 - 4 times faster then normal. Also they can control and suppress there scent, even while in rut. While in rut they do not loose themselves to their baser instincts, or there inner alpha.
Rogue Omega
A rogue omegas differences are, they are not susceptible to alpha pheromones, or the alpha voice of any alpha with the exception of their fated mate/s. A rogue omega has what others call a seductive omega voice. This seductive omega voice, can bring a alpha under the omegas control just like a alpha voice does to a omega. Their senses are 3 - 4 times better then the average omega. They have a heightened immune system witch means they never get sick and heal 3 - 4 times faster then normal. Also they can control and suppress there scent, even while in heat. While in heat they do not loose themselves to their baser instincts, or there inner alpha.
