It had been a weird, but great day, or shall I say a great ratsgiving. Owen and the rest had gone on quite an adventure.
After Oli had turned Will and El into cats, which in itself was weird enough and slightly terrifying. Owen and his group had traveled upstreams the river and had met a glowing squid. The squid had an item they needed to make a cure for El and Will, a glitter sack. Been forced to dance for a weird squid was not what he had expected to come out of this quest. Their dancing had not been good enough so they had to return. After coming back to the fountain where they decided to meet at, they found that the other group also failed their side of the quest. So they switched it up and were now 'group teeth'. Quested with wishing a fox happy birthday to get a shiny rock didn't sound weird at all and it definitely didn't make it weirder that Owen had dressed up as a fox and pretended to be the fox's uncle. Their plan didn't go as smooth as they thought it would and they had to solve three supposedly difficult riddles. Solving them was easy peasy and they soon ran out with a shiny rock in their possession. The other group had also managed to get their item and both groups were running to the witch ladies room. The lady had made the potion right in front of their eyes. Oli had once again splashed them with a potion and El and Will got turned back into rats.

Scott had been preparing food for a special occasion and was setting it up on the dining table. The rest of the group was running around the house and getting caught. As Scott had finished setting everything up and was now waiting for the rest to come. Which took way longer than he thought. Everyone gathered around and they all sat on the table and ate. It had been nice, they had even stood around in a circle and given each other compliments. Afterwards most people went to sleep as it already was way past midnight.

Owen also really wanted to go to sleep now he had been working so hard on his clock house and was tired. He was not really paying much attention to what Scott was saying as he was brought to the basement. "Maybe it is better if you see it yourself" Scott said. So he followed Scott, they were walking to the boiling room. It was sealed by a fence and behind it a layer of glass. Before it lay a book with a warning to not go inside. Owen was tired and not really paying attention to the contents of the book and was just reading it out loud for Scott. It had something to do with spores and that was all he could gather from it. He tried to see inside the room but the fence was blocking his sight. Scott was suggesting they leave it to the humans, even if his curiosity got to him he still agreed with Scott and they walked away.
He really wanted to see what was inside that room.
Was it safe? What were those spores? He needed to investigate it.
He was the biggest rat he was supposed to keep the rest of the rats safe, unlike how he had done with the giant bugs. He had been a coward as Bek had called him. He needed to do this. So that's what he did, he lied to Scott that he was going to sleep. Even if it did feel terrible to lie to him. Scott had been so kind to him, he couldn't ask for a better friend. But now he was lying to him. He told himself it was for a good reason, to keep Scott safe to keep all the other rats safe it was his responsibility and he was going to take it.
Sneaking inside the boiler room was surprisingly easy and he quickly found his way inside. Now he could finally take a good look at the room,and it was infested with spores everywhere, they were even visible floating spores in the air. He walked forward and a few bigger spores were blocking his path, so he shoved them aside and walked through them. Then suddenly a strong pain hit him. He felt it in his entire body, he took a gasp of air and was hit with a violent cough as his lungs filled with the strange spores. Breathing suddenly became increasingly difficult, he was coughing his lungs out and pain kept rolling over him in waves, it felt like his life force was being drained. He had to get out of here quickly! He ran out and closed all the gaps. His energy was running out and he knew he was going to die soon so he did the only thing he could think of, and called out for Scott his voice soft, rough because of the constant coughing. He needed Scott right now, but he knew that Scott was peacefully sleeping in his house and was nowhere near him but he still held on that last string of hope as he called out his name one more time before dropping to the ground, death.
Owen respawned in his bed, now with only two lives left. He shot up gasping for air but ended up coughing. He felt horrible, not as bad as when he just died but he felt drained physically and emotionally. So he dropped down on his pillow and fell back asleep in seconds.
Meanwhile nobody had noticed anything wrong, everyone was already asleep after the eventful day they just had. But there was nothing to worry about right, I mean it wasn't the first death in the house right? Nothing could go wrong.
