S.E.K.A.I - N3on Chromat1c

Summary:

In the outskirts of "The capital", among the residents of those who have hit rock bottom sits the main hide-out of a mercenary group known as S.E.K.A.I. As a Mercenary group they might have a few enemies to deal with first... For example, the extremely skilled hacker messing with the database!

Perhaps that hacker sings as a pass time?

Chapter 1: Data-breach Chaos

Chapter Text

‘I’m so tired, just please let me slack off…’ and thoughts such as that ran through Akito's head as he heard another ping from his phone. Reaching his arm out to pick up his phone as another shot of pain stems from his arm. Who knew falling from only 4 feet onto some dirt could hurt so much. As he knocked the alarm clock on his bedside table, Akito looked to see what notification caused the sound, Akito scans and sees a text from an “unknown” in the group chat used by everyone in S.E.K.A.I. He opened the message and read further, still thinking someone forgot to tell him about some new recruit or something. Oh, how wrong he was.

‘Dear mercenaries of the group known as S.E.K.A.I, I humbly would like to inform you of a data breach. Despite the heavy safeguards put in place to protect it, it seems it was not safe enough. I will be leaking all information to the public and enemy groups. However I offer an ultimatum, I simply request a hit on Mr Aoyagi Harumichi.

I expect the deed as done before the end of this month, September 30th. Unless of course you want all real names, client information, assignment details and other information leaked to the general public.

Thank you for your time - Chromatic’

Who the hell’s codename is “Chromatic”? ’ was Akito's first thought before realising the weight of the situation. It's a data breach and if something doesn’t get done before September Most if not all of the people who work under S.E.K.A.I could be done for, it could signal the end of the group as a whole.

Someone was doing something about this right? They had a penalty of people good with machines after all… but then how did this “Chromatic” person manage to break in in the first place? Was everyone else safe? With questions racing in his mind and heart pounding he threw on some shoes and a random jacket hanging up and ran over to Crase Bar, not minding how he should be resting after sustaining bad injuries from one of his most recent missions.

“Want to explain what the hell is going on?!” Akito shouted, bursting through the door of the Bar’s and startling everyone in the vicinity. “Akito, one of these days I will murder you.” Ena’s voice sounded deader and more annoyed than usual, guess working behind the bar is that bad. Not particularly having the urge to piss her off more, Akito simply pulled up a chair at the bar and sat there waiting for an answer. Meiko sighed at their antics then finally gave Akito his answer along with a glass of water. “Well there's not much we can do, I would say to wait for Kanade or Rui to update us on the situation.” Akito thought about her words, it didn’t make sense– why them? Sure, S.E.K.A.I was good at their job, but this ‘hacker’ could have picked another group for fucks sake.

With an exasperated sigh, Akito chugged down the contents of the glass, picked up his coat from the corner of his chair and walked out the door, slamming it hard on the way out. Where was he heading? He had no idea. The neon lights from billboards and signs reflected in his peripheral as he walked. The sounds of motorbikes and cars speeding past him as he walked calmed him down to a degree.

Since he was a teen Akito liked to sing, even with his dangerous new career path he still found time to. Akito frequented a cafe; One whose owner just so happened to be the father of one of his colleagues; the weekend garage. Along with being frequent at this cafe, he had also started performing there. Always, every time his visits would play out the same. Get annoyed, take a walk, end up there, pick up the mic & sing. “Wow, you're amazing at singing! Ever considered being a singer?” Akito never had a reply.

Up on that stage once more, he felt the music start, the vibrations the speakers caused resonating deep in his bones. What were the words again? What song was this? He didn’t know, he didn’t care, he would make them up as he heard them, he’d deal with it as he always did.

Oh, this song again, not too hard, he was used to this. Akito stopped thinking and got lost in the song. The lyrics always reminded him of himself, forced into constantly lying, he couldn’t stop. One slip up and someone could have his head. As Akito sang, he continued on in his bubble of the beat and song, completely ignoring the other presence in the room. The next song’s beat moves in to replace the cheers and claps of the small crowd.

The song came to a close, grip lessening on the microphone as he regained his breath and came off the adrenaline-hazed daze he was in. Akito scanned the crowd, the sweat on his forehead becoming ever more apparent from the panting man. “How are we today everyone?!” he spoke into the mic, getting a cheer back from the crowd in reply. He continued on with one of his usual crowd-hyping speeches when his eyes locked with someone in the crowd.

This “someone” stood out. Be it the unnatural colour of his hair, the way he stared at the stage or his aura that Akito could feel from a ways away, Akito wasn’t sure. What he was sure of was how this man piqued his interest. With a strange urge to know more about this man, Akito changed the direction of his ‘speech’ if you could even call it that.

“I’m in a good mood right now so which one of you wants to come up here and sing with me?” Once again yelling his question into the mic. A few people raised their hands, despite this Akito’s eyes faked scanning the room and finally one again landed on this dual-tone blue-haired man.
With their eyes locking, Akito spoke once more into the mic. “How about the guy with the blue hair?” He smirked at the other, “You look cool, let's see if you can sing as well as ya look!”
