Chapter Text
Cole woke up in a sweat. They had defeated the Crystal King 2 years ago and since then he has been getting the same reoccurring dream of his mother the day she passed, the same quote she said to him, the same look from his father of just no emotion, not a shred of remorse or worry in his eyes as if he didnt care what was happening. Due to that he began to think it was a sign and when he questioned his father Lou about his mother's death, he always brushed him off saying "she's gone", "get over it, Cole", "you need to grow up". Cole stares at the ceiling, the dream sticking to him like a bad feeling. Maybe his father was right and that he needed to grow up and just let it go. He had been holding onto the thought of his mother for so long. He got up, staring at his mirror that was littered with old photos of him and the other ninja and some of their allies like the Upply and Queen Vania. Putting his hair up in a messy bun and staring at himself seeing how close he truly looked like his mother, maybe that was the reason Lou refused to tell him anything. Maybe there was something deeper hidden by his father.
Grabbing his phone, he starts to message the only people he knew that would have knowledge of his mother before her death and remember it the well those people where Ray and Maya. As much as he didn't want to admit it he didn't trust speaking to Wu about this due to Wu keeping things hidden from them before. He feared if he spoke to him about this if Lou did do something Wu would try to cover it up or not tell him. Ray and Maya were his best shot since Garmadon didn't fully remember the past and they were the only ones from the previous generation that knew his mom and haven't lied to him or the others unless it was for their protection. He was extremely nervous, he didn't know why but he just was, but after typing out a message and reading it. Once. Twice. And a third time he sighs realizing the worst thing that could happen is that they don't remember much or can't help him. He presses send and waits, staring at his phone. It was read after a couple of minutes but went unanswered for what felt like years. Getting a response back took about 10 minutes and it read 'we only knew she left for Shintaro and Lou had told us her death was a complication from her fight with Grief-Bringer sorry we cant be of anymore help'. Cole stares at his phone and sighs, sending a message back before setting his phone down and going over everything he knew. To his best memory, his mom didn’t seem hurt at all when he saw her before she passed. Something wasn’t right.
