Chapter Text
“Jimmyyyy, pleeeeeeease!” The elder sister whined, quite dramatically. “I can’t go alone!”
The younger merely snickered politely at her attempt at puppy dog eyes. “I don’t want to go see boring paintings for five hours—“ He saw her visibly deflate, and held his hands up in defense. “I’m sorry!”
Energy (and desperation) seized her as she kept speaking in persuasion. “We can go exploring! This exhibit is supposed to be huge—It’ll be fun!”
“Lizzie—“ He was nearing his room. “A history museum is not going to be fun—“
A tiny smirk found itself on her lips as soon as she found what would finally sway his decision, so she quickly interrupted. “The new exhibit is on the Twelve Empires." She saw him hesitate and decided to pull another card. "And they have sculptures—!”
Jimmy halted from entering his room. “I—“ She hit his weakness. He sighed, as he opened the door. Mumbling, “Let me go get dressed.”
“YES!”
It did not take long for Jimmy to dress, as his grogginess of just waking up had been replaced with buzzing excitement.
The siblings had gone through the museum before, and all the rooms and halls were grand, so they knew the walk through any addition was to be long. Though any extended amount of time was going to be worth the foot ache for the new exhibit.
The remembrance of the Twelve Lost Empires and the Effects of Xornoth.
It would forever and always be a fascinating subject to them.
As they were growing up, they always felt an odd connection and closeness to the rulers and empires. Along with the heavily strong desire to study and correct the wrongs in off putting textbooks and supposedly incorrect common knowledge. It was entirely embarrassing growing up and being told the information they knew was correct was wrong, but nothing stopped their deep rooted desire to ensure the truths of the Twelve Emperors resurfaced and allowed their true legacy to live on.
But enough about that.
The exhibit would be exhilarating! They were sure of it, and for it to be permanent was simply sugar atop.
This excitement that grew at an increasingly high speed made the train ride, then walk to the museum joyous and full of chatter. Though even if their excitement wasn't as grand, any time spent with each other would have been a delight anyways.
They got through security swiftly and stood in front of the grand display of a stag, presumably from Rivendell, to discuss the plan.
“Alright!” Lizzie made vague gestures. “We’ll do a sweep of the painting hall, then I’ll drop you off at the sculptures and go back.”
“Why would you be dropping me off?” he whined. “I thought we were going through it together!”
“Because I want to see the paintings and examine the techniques and brush strokes and all—” There were practically hearts swirling her at the thought. “And I think you’d rather stay with your carved rocks instead of seeing the ‘boring paintings’.”
His shoulders slumped with a sigh. “So you won’t be going through the sculptures with me?”
She shrugged. “I’ll glance, but probably not.”
“So unfair.” Though, he still followed his giggling sister to the paintings.
