Work Text:
Megumi’s hands trailed up and down the back of Itadori’s head, stopping right before lowering towards his back, just to go back up again, brushing slightly over his nape, then, only to sink his fingers through Yuuji’s hair, the pale fingers disappearing in the pink fluff that just made Itadori so…him.
While Itadori’s hands clenched tightly around Megumi’s waist then his hips, keeping him in place, sitting just right above him, guiding his moves, just perfectly.
They kissed and kissed and kissed each other, their mouths glued, as if they were trying to drink the other, the feeling pouring down their throats, Megumi could barely make up any coherent thought, but he could not really manage to think straight with his judgment clouded by the growing excitement on his lower stomach, the heat. the thrilling sensation. The rush that seemed to dense the air inside the car, and flood with the same rhythm in that Fushiguro kept moving his hips, his hands, his tongue.
How did he end up like this?
And to think that it all started with a morning coffee.
Megumi rushed towards the cafeteria, it was close to his school, he was a frequent client over summer break, but this was the first time that Megumi was going there in the morning.
He knew the employees already, they knew his order and tended to try to small talk with him, pure politeness. Megumin liked the place and the coffee, it was perfect that it was on his way to his school building, barely two blocks away.
Nevertheless, this morning was different, the usual staff and familiar faces weren’t there. They had the afternoon shift, and the place seemed to have barely opened, it was 7am.
Megumi came closer to the counter to place his order, and all of the employees running around were still unfamiliar, strange faces. It felt off to see the uniform he got to know so well without any of the people he saw every afternoon. The morning shift seemed unbothered over his presence, he missed the fondness of the staff, then, just then;
He was received with the kindest smile he had ever seen.
A boy was there, pink hair, black apron, and a big, big warm smile, Megumi could have a perfect glance of his teeth, the fangs, the crooked bottom teeth, he felt intrusive a bit, but his eyes couldn’t help but to absorb all that he was able to see right there, and appreciate it.
It had been a long time ever since Megumi was received with a smile with such kindness.
When was the last time? Hold old he used to be? 5? He couldn't even remember.
Megumi was too distracted to even notice the sound coming from that mouth, him being called, he couldn’t really process anything past that smile.
“What?” Megumi said, confusion on his face.
The boy in the apron must have noticed, he giggled and repeated himself with ease.
“I asked, what would you like to order ?” The barista’s tone was soft, kind.
“Oh, yeah, right , sorry” Megumi excused himself, he was too amused by the sight in front of him.
“It’s still early, do not apologize, I'm sleepy as well.” The boy said, joyful, the hospitality overfilled him.
“Yeah, i-i, i’m sorry, good morning” Megumi felt so silly, what happened to him?
“It's just one of those days, monday” The boy said, and oh, they were joking now.
“Yeah, Mondays, they are called that.” Megumi said, in support of the joke.
Itadori laughed and Megumi did too. He was acting stupid. He felt embarrassed.
He glared at the barista, seeing the name on his apron
“What would you like to order?”
“I-, oh, so..this is embarrassing. I'm a frequent customer and i come here in the afternoon shift and they always know my order so…i-i usually i just get here and inukami–” His ramble was interrupted.
“Let me guess, you can’t remember the name of your order?”
“Yeah..” Oh this was fucking embarrassing.
“It’s okay, we’ll sort it out, do you remember what it tasted like?” The boy asked him, so nicely. Megumi blushed a bit.
“Yeah so, I like strong coffee, but it has a bit of cinnamon in it? Megumi tried his best to remember.
“Oh, that's our latte, the cinnamon blend. You have good taste.” He said, while smiling at Megumi.
“Yes, it’s exactly that one.” Megumi’s heart was beating so fast.
He got the big size one as he always did, oat milk and no extra sugar. The guy asked for his payment choice, cash, he also asked for Megumi’s name and wrote in the cup.
“Your coffee will be ready soon, you are our first customer today. We’ll call you at the end of the counter.” The boy told him, pointing out his drink would be ready shortly.
Megumi glared at the boy, staring right at him, his apron, his name tag, Yuuji. And just like that, the face got a name.
“Thank you, Yuuji . You are very kind.”
Yuuji, the barista in front of him, could see him staring at his name tag. He smiled again, soft and warm. He glanced over the cup he was holding, reading the name on it.
He looked at him.
“Thank you, Megumi . Have a lovely day.”
Megumi wished to exchange more words with Yuuji, but once his drink was handed to him, all he could do was to wave back to the boy smiling at him behind the counter.
clients started coming inside the coffee shop, and the sight of Megumi meandered trying to follow the pink hair that rapidly moved from one spot to the other through the cafeteria, receiving the people who arrived and swiftly working.
Megumi left the place and walked the two blocks that took him to get to the school. Megumi smiled at the sight of his name written on the cup, it had a happy face right next to it.
His first day of school began, a new semester, filled with stuff that should’ve occupied Megumi’s mind, yet there was only one thing in his head, and that was the pink haired smiling barista, Yuuji.
That's how the whole week went.
Megumi only had one name, a name and a smile so far, but every morning he entered the cafeteria lying about the expectant excitement of having his cinnamon blended whatever–coffee, when in reality, what he craved the most wasn’t the warmth of his drink, but actually the warmth of the smile he was received with. It was cozy.
He had taken in consideration stopping at the shop again, calling through the phone to ask to not be picked up at school, so instead he could make his way walking back and then get a glimpse inside the place with the excuse of a second coffee, but it would just not make sense, because Yuuji’s shift had probably ended hours ago, it was pointless.
His silly little crush ate him alive, why a smile and a drink was all he could have? He needed more, he wanted more of the pink haired boy. but Megumi was just too shy.
Instead, he kept going everyday, every single morning without missing. And nothing was as sweet as the way Itadori said “Welcome back. Megumi '' when the boy came through that door, with the faint sound of the ring bell above it, there it was, wide and bright, Yuuji’s smile.
Yuuji showed too much teeth, it was still a fun sight, but Megumi found it extremely charming the way his name sounded in that mouth. He loved the way Yuuji addressed him by his name.
The usual routine flowed easily, as if it was an automatic action from their bodies and minds.
“Good morning! The usual?” Yuuji asked.
Yes, the usual. as usual. Everything had become so familiar, Megumi was fond of his routine.
“Yeah, please” Megumi said, smiling.
“got it, it will be ready in a sec.” Yuuji smiled wide.
“Hey, uhm… ” Megumi said, hesitant “ Yuuji ,” Megumi called him.
“Yeah?” Yuuji raised his head.
“Your name, you are Yuuji, what ?” Megumi asked him.
“I don't get it.” The boy said, staring at him confused.
“Your last name, what is it?” Megumi said, and instantly regretted, his tone came out too demanding without him even realizing, sometimes this was something Megumi couldn’t control. He blushed.
But so did Yuuji.
“Itadori. My name is Yuuji Itadori.” The barista, Itadori answered, and giggled.
“Oh.” Megumi said, oh, Itadori.
“What’s yours?” Itadori asked
Megumi stood still “Fushiguro. Megumi Fushiguro”
“Well Fushiguro, it's a pleasure to meet you.”
Mrgumi smiled, almost as big as Itadori.
He wished he was good at small talk; it would've been easier.
Shortly after, when his drink was handed, he walked toward the exit, stopping in his steps.
“Have a nice day, Fushiguro!!” Itadori shouted behind the counter, making him turn around, he was waving, so Megumi waved back, shyly.
He blushed all the way to his ears.
He kept walking, towards the campus, his cup had been written down once again with his name, and an addition “Nice to meet you ;)” oh , it had been nice meeting Yuuji Itadori.
He could get used to a life with Yuuji in it
******
School days passed by quietly, he took his notes, did his exams, submitted his assignments, it wasn’t as hard. He did what he had to do, what he was supposed to do.
And every moment of his days, he thought of Yuuji.
He looked forward to each morning. The routine suited him.
*******
Megumi made a friend, her name was Nobara. It took him about two weeks, but he finally had a friend, someone to talk to through the day.
Someone to talk about his deep, breathtaking, –making him go crazy–crush, Itadori.
Nobara laughed, and told him to introduce him to her. Megumi blushed, shaking his head, instead, he asked for advice.
Nobara said some useful things, to ask him about his day, small talk in general, (something that once again, Megumi wasn’t good at), what coffee did he recommended, motivating him to try new things, and if he felt bold enough, to ask him when did his shift ended (or more like, a date invitation).
Maybe his routine being disrupted by him feeling bold wouldn’t be as bad.
“You are good at this. Do you have a boyfriend?” Megumi asked her, his friend was indeed good at chasing–flirting– whatever – thing. He could instantly see the mocking smirk on the girl’s face.
Nobara laughed again, her laugh was noisy and loud, it was contagious. It was the kind of noise Megumi enjoyed in his usually quiet life.
“I have a girlfriend .” Nobara snorted.
oh, well, that was on Megumi for making assumptions.
“What’s her name?” Megumi asked, not only showing interest but out of curiosity.
“Maki.” Kugisaki said nonchalantly.
Maki??!!
“Maki what?” Megumi needs to know. To know if–
“Why?” She interrupted his thoughts, defensively. They didn’t have that long of knowing each other, both weren’t that shareful.
“Just answer.” Megumi told her, and she rolled her eyes.
“Maki Zenin” Nobara said.
“Oh my god” He gasped. The words spurting from his mouth.
“What?!” She was defensive again, demanding an answer, annoyed and maybe even mortified by what the conversation led to.
“That’s my cousin, you are dating my cousin.”
They both burst into laughter. This was such a ridiculous coincidence.
Nobara and Maki, they definitely fit into each other's personalities.
And the world was definitely small.

Megumi kept going to the cafeteria, as expected. Itadori received him, it was so reassuring, the smile was there, the apron, the warm pink color from his hair and the tanned skin, the fangs, the sharp jaw. The joyful loud voice he had, the sweet tone in the one he said Megumi’s name. The soft hands that held the cup and the beautiful boy who owned those hands. while making his order and payment Megumi studied Yuuji’s face (as he always did, ever since day one)
Itadori had a joy that made him look so youthful, the way his cheeks raised when he smiled, the playfulness of his tone, his transparency and kindness…he just chose to be kind, not expecting something in exchange. He gifted his smile for the world to see and received nothing from it. Megumi admired him. Fushiguro wondered how old Itadori was.
Instead, he asked him about his day.
“How are you doing?” Megumi asked directly, his body felt the rush of the excitement.
“Oh, I'm doing fine!” Itadori scratched the back of his head with his free hand “I confess I could be sleeping better though,” He giggled, and there it was, the transparency Megumi knew he had seen on itadori, the boy was genuine and that was refreshing, no hidden intentions. “Thank you for asking, you are very nice.”
Itadori said and Megumi blushed, he looked down at the counter shyly, and smiled.
“Have you been sleeping well?” Itadori asked, and this took Megumi by surprise, he did not expect it. It wasn’t part of what he had planned. His eyes widening, looking at Itadori, he felt like he had been caught.
Megumi had in fact not been sleeping well, not with the thought of Yuuji keeping him awake, the guilt. Yet, his restless mind was not the only one accompanying Megumi’s bed at night.
The words didn’t leave his mouth, yet Itadori cracked a joke.
“Because if you haven’t i might add an extra shot of espresso.” The boy behind the counter giggled.
Oh, yeah , right.
“That would be nice.” Megumi giggled in return. It was nice.
That didn’t go so horribly, right?

The next morning, Megumi tried to improve his game, he asked Itadori for a coffee recommendation.
And the way Itadori’s face lightened up, it was just beautiful. Megumi was disposed to try every damn colorful overpriced drink on the menu if it meant Itadori’s face would light up that way for him, it was just worth it.
Excited, Itadori began to talk about the menu, and God, Megumi could listen to him for hours, he explained kindly what the drinks had, and even tried to give an approximate description of the flavors. Yuuji was good at his job, and not only because Megumi was too astonished with the barista, but he was sold already. He was motivated enough that if it didn’t appear insane, Fushiguro would have bought every damn drink Yuuji told him about.
Once Itadori finished talking, Megumi smiled wide.
“Well, i don’t know.” Megumi was thinking, one of his hands holding his own chin “Why don’t you surprise me? Something you think i'll like.”
“I can think of something you will like.” Itadori said, teasingly, taking it as a challenge. If Megumi wasn’t too biased by his delusion he could even say it felt a bit flirty…He blushed and smiled, nodding in response.
Itadori took his cup at the other extreme of the counter to start making it, as he usually did, and when Megumi was ready to pay, Itadori’s hand was placed over his, stopping him from getting the money out of his wallet and Megumi’s heart stopped. The touch was warm, the hand was as soft as it looked, and Megumi felt like he was melting.
Gathering all of his courage he looked up, to Yuuji’s eyes, trying to figure out what led to the sudden action.
“This one is on the house.” Yuuji said and winked.
Oh god, Megumi would die.
All he could do was return a smile back, he was too much taken by surprise to even formulate an answer, the touch, the wink, the drink. Jesus Christ.
Briefly, Yuuji step back and his hand was no longer over Megumi’s. Which was awful, Megumi’s fast beating heart already yearned for the warmthness of it, struck by the usual coldness Megumi lived in.
A coldness Fushiguro hadn’t noticed that filled his life until he was met by the warmth of Yuuji Itadori.
Itadori was already walking towards the cup, far away from the register box, far away from Megumi.
“Thanks.” Megumi said, and his smile felt so big, his cheeks hot, his face hurt.
Yuuji smiled back.
“Hope you like it’ was written on his cup once the drink was in his hands.
It was a latte, with notes of toasted cinnamon and vanilla. Megumi did like it, it was perfect.

Three days went by, and what for Megumi had been a bold move became now part of his routine.
Another bold move wouldn’t be bad then.
It had been three days of Megumi saying “Surprise me” when placing his orders, which he loved doing, because indeed, Itadori surprised him with an excellent choice every time, Fushiguro found himself slowly trying new things from the menu.
But this also meant that every time for the past three days, Yuuji had invited him a drink.
This was sweet, but Megumi couldn’t accept it anymore. This was coming from Itadori’s salary, and Megumi knew for a fact that this job meant that Itadori needed the money. Megumi wasn’t aware if Yuuji went to school, or if he had multiple jobs, but giving away free drinks wasn’t something affordable. Once it was sweet, it was okay, but everyday now wasn’t, Megumi felt like he was exploiting Itadori.
Each time he had tried to pay, Itadori had opposed. Today Fushiguro wasn’t allowing for that to happen.
‘It’s on the house. It’s a gift from me, take it, please.” He was smiling, as always. His tone soft, as always “I mean it.”
Megumi’s brows frowned, but quickly his gaze softened. He nodded. Itadori was just too sweet.
So instead of taking out the money from his wallet to pay, he went on a different direction
He picked up a 100 dollars buck and placed it on the tips box, the one that had a draw of an orange tiger and Yuuji written over it, (each barista had their tips box, personalized as they liked)
Itador’s eyes widened in surprise, about to say something, about to refuse against such action.
Megumi smiled, and said “It’s a gift from me, take it, please,” repeating Yuuji’s briefly ago spoken words.
Itadori blushed all the way to his ears, the big smile, too much teeth.
*****
The next day, Itadori got the hint, he didn’t invite Megumi a drink so this way Megumi wasn’t going to leace a ridiculous tip. Megumi left a normal tip, and he paid for his drink.
This way neither felt like abusing each other’s kindness.
It was friday. It was time for the bold move, he had to make use of Nobara’s advice.
“When does your shift end today?”
Itadori stared at him perplexed, the warn of a rosy pink blush threatening to start forming on his cheeks, matching his hair. “Today I finish at four, I don't have class today.”
“Great, that time i finish my last class.” It was a lie, Megumi’s class finished at three, “ you’ll be here at four then, right? Do you wanna go for an ice cream cone or something like that?”
Where was this courage coming from? God bless Kugisaki, two weeks ago Megumi could barely talk to Itadori without stuttering.
“Yes, I would love that, yes I'll be here .” Itadori seemed happy about it.
“Perfect, see you here then.” Megumi was more than happy.
“I’ll be the boy with the pink hair standing in the parking lot”
There he was, cracking jokes, Megumi loved it.
“Got it.”
They both laughed.
“Have a nice day Megumi!!” Itadori waved at him on his way out.
Megumi was thrilled with excitement, he walked towards school filled with adrenaline.
The wait till four o’clock was a torture, Megumi was a mess, the nervousness in the pit of his stomach, the butterflies or whatever.
This was really happening.
Once his classes finished he stayed one more hour in the library to wait for Itadori’s shift to end.
He called home, asking to not be picked up. He was asked if he was upset, upset to be left on a cold bed. He excused himself saying he would hang out with Nobara. Lies.
He walked back towards the cafeteria, and there it was, so easy to spot, his pink haired boy standing in the parking lot, waiting for him.
They greeted each other, Itadori rugged him and Megumi almost died on the spot, it was so brief that Megumi did not have time to melt in those arms as he wished. Yuuji seemed to be the hugging kind.
They talked, and talked, and walked two more blocks, down the corner, right by the ice cream shop. Everything was so close to the campus.
They at on some benches near them while they ate their cones, and Fushiguro finally learned some few things about the boy; Yuuji Itadori liked to talk a lot, which was great because Megumi wasn’t that much of a talker, but loved to listen to Itadori.
Yuuji was his same age, just turned 18, his birthday in May.
Fushigurp also learnt that Yuuji originally lived in Osaka, raised by his grandpa, and moved in middle school to Tokyo when his grandfather died.
Yuuji studied physiotherapy in the same university Maki was studying at, the same one that inumaki.
Megumi found the coincidences funny.
“How come you have lived here your whole life, we are the same age, and we never crossed paths? How come we didn’t go to school together at any given time?”
“I have been in private schools ever since middle school.” Megumi said, looking at his ice cream cone.
Actually, he had barely crossed paths with anyone significantly due the isolation of the kind of schools he was enrolled in the past. always too..supervised, someone always looking after him.
After a couple of hours, many jokes and laughs, the boys said goodbye to each other, Itadori offered to drive him but Megumi refused. It was better if Itadori didn’t know his address.
Just like that, their first date was over.
He couldn’t wait to tell Nobara all about it.
His phone ringed, the name on the screen made him still. It was time to go home
******
The next friday, they also agree to see each other, and they do.
Things were different this time.
Meumi called on his phone, to not be picked up, lying, saying that he was going to have dinner with Nobara. Instead, Yuuji picked him up late that day from school.
Megumi had multiple mandatory study sessions for his upcoming exam, meaning he did had to stay overtime, which aligned perfectly with Itadori’s schedule, he was working extra hours on his Friday shift.
That was the sequence of events that had let them here.
Him sitting over Itadori’s lap, the pilot seat reclined and Megumi hovering on top of him, trying to not lean in the steering wheel.
Yuuji’s car in random a parking lot, the sky darken a while ago already, inside the car, the boys kissed each other frenetically, the making out session had been going on for minutes now, and separating to get a taste of air for a second was a torture. Their bodies hot on top of the other, Yuuji’s hands trailed over Megumi’s thin body, sneaking under the sweatshirt he wore. Megumi felt the hairs of his neck rise against the touch, sending an electric shock down his spine. He needed more, more, more, he needed Yuuji.
Their erections throbbing inside their pants, roughly contained by the fabric of their jeans.
Megumi began moving his hips for friction.
“yes, yeah , just like that baby.” Itadori groaned, his soft voice now hoarse in the heat, his tone still so sweet.
Megumi moaned in the middle of the kiss in response to what Itadori had just called him, against Yuuji’s mouth.
Their mouths moved, devouring each other, the soft touch of their tongues. the warmth of the other mouth.
Megumi moved faster, he was so close already.
He humped Itadori and held onto his neck, whale Itadori hid his face against Fushiguros neck, kissing him there too, the wet kisses placed sending Megumi over the edge.
Megumi came, so hard, inside of his jeans. With high pitched moans. It was heaven.
Holding tightly onto Yuuji’s embrace; Megumi started shaking.
He started shaking so bad, sweating. His face was now wet.
Tears were streaming down his face.
“Megumi?” Itadori asked without response. He sounded mortified.
Megumi’s sobs started loud, he had trouble breathing.
“Megumi, baby what’s wrong?” Itadori separated from him to have space to look at his face, but Megumi was now looking down “Are you hurt? Did i hurt you?” He was so sweet, so kind, Megumi couldn’t do this.
Megumi kept shaking, he tried to dry his tears with the sleeves from the hoodie he was wearing, Itadori’s hoodie. Oh this was just so bad.
Yuuji brushed away the raven locks that stuck to Megumi’s wet face.
“Megumi what’s wrong?” Itadori asked again, so softly, not scaring away.
Megumi was panicking. He felt heartbroken.
“I’m getting married soon.” Megumi said, his voice broken. Sobbing, tears streamed down his face, he could not look Yuuji in the eyes.
Fushiguro felt the boy under him tense up, completely still. The hands of Yuuji quickly drifted away from Megumi’s face, it was then when Megumi looked up.
In complete silence and shock, almost horror, Itadori looked at him. His eyes wide in surprise, his gaze fixed on Megumi.
“What?” It was the only thing that came out of Yuuji’s mouth.
It was the last thing Megumi remembered him saying.
“I’m getting married, next month.” Megumi felt horrible, gross, he hated himself. He hated himself for doing this to Yuuji. He couldn;t stop sobbing.
He was marrying Gojo Satoru.
He moved onto the copilot seat.
It was then when it all must have clicked for Itadori. The private schools, the big tips, the no relatives aside from Maki.
Still, without saying a word, Yuuji drove Megumi back to his house. Megumi told him the address, to drop him off a block before getting there, he would walk.
Megumi gave him his hoodie back. The drive back was silent, nothing aside from Megumi’s sobs and sniffs were heard. Itadori’s hand gripped tightly on the steering wheel, his knuckles went white, still, he did not say a word, looking straight to the road. He did not look at Megumi again, he did not dare.
Fushiguro couldn’t blame him.
Megumi put back on his ring.
And to think it had all started with a morning coffee.
