The sun burn my skin again.

Summary:

In this story, Sunny reveal the truth to his friends after waking up, and they take it... Quite bad. (like a lot of story in this genre, but wait, stay! I swear it's going to be original!).

This story begin with some Angst but the Fluff and humor will be the major part of the story. There not enough Omori fic that just make you go "Haaaaw". And the main relationship will be Sunburn. Why? Because I can. And I ship it hard.

Notes:

First chapter of the story! It's the first fic I post, so, I hope it will not be too bad! Feel free to leave comment on your thoughts and opinions to better myself!

Also, I always wanted to make my own take on the Omori VS Sunny fight. And I feel like it ends up pretty good.

Anyway, have a nice read!

Chapter 1: Prologue : A fight against himself.

Chapter Text

Welcome to the white space.

You have been living here as long as you can remembers

You are here for the last time...

Sunny was walking in the white filled void. This place that he has been roaming for so long the past years... This fake reality inside his head, his escape from the reality, from the truth...

A truth that he forgot for the past years, but now, he finally remember what he has done. The guilt and the pain never truly faded away, they always haunted him, watched him, he just buried them by...selfishness. By egoism, by cowardise of what he has done. At least, that was how he view the cruel reality of his action.

He killed Mari.

The dear, sweet , amazing, - dare he say -, perfect sister he could have ever dreamed of. In the burst of the action, he pushed her to her demise. He had blood on his hand... blood of the one who loved him the most. . . . . But he could not hide it any longer. He could no longer lied to his friend, while watching them right in the eye.

He didn't deserved them, he didn't want them to be friend with a... killer. A murderer, a liar.

But before he could reveal anything, he needed to face him.

The one who was "protecting him" of the truth. The one who was his shell. The only true ennemi in all of this... Himself.

Sunny arrived in front of a boy. You already know who it is, don't you?

The black and white version of himself swing his knife, an invitation to fight.

Because it was the only way.

Because it was here and now that everything was going to end.

Sunny was... Feelings anxious. He took a deep breath. But how could he relax? Omori was in front of him, armed, with experience in battle. What did Sunny had in his bag of knowledge? Kel was doing the most of the fight, in the real world, and he even had difficulty against some fly...

But he could not just.. Give up. He had his violin... It could make the change.

With the bow of his violin, he swing at the black and white boy, 3 time, with as much strength and agility he could. He took... more than surprising damage. But it was the rule of the world in his mind that was the master here. Logic was not part of Sunny personal head RPG.

But Omori was clearly more dangerous than him. A single swing to Sunny, barely cutting his arm, felt like the most atrocious pain Sunny never felt. The pain was never this realistic, in his dream, and in his fight with Basil, he was too much stressed to actually feel his eye being torn apart...

But he was going to go through this. He HAD to. For his friends, for Basil, Kel, Aubrey, Hero... Mari... It was his redemption. It was finally time to DO something.

So, he attacked again. With his determination, the attack was even more critical then last time. But... Something feeled... Off.

Omori did not succumb.

Sunny took a step back, Omori wound was... Healed? As clean as new.. He also noticed a blood stain on the knife, probably from his previous wound. It was... Not a good sign.

But something made him freeze into place, even more than previously.

"You've caused so much suffering...yet you do nothing."

Omori... He was speaking? His voice... It was cold. It still seemed like the voice of a child, but... It was without a single feeling behind them. Like a judge at his court.

"And so you've earned nothing in return. Your friends will never forgive you."

His voice was not the thing he feared the most... His words... There were like a arrow, going through his chest. Thing that still hurted so much, but felt like a deja vue... It was his own thoughts, isn't it?

" They'll abandon you like you did them... and that's what you deserve."

At his final words, he dashes to Sunny, proceeding to slice his chest, barely cutting him. But the pain was still strong, Sunny let out a squeak of pain. Omori was toying with him. He was torturing him.

Even the slight cut felt like a deep wound. But Sunny could not focus on that. He needed to fight, he HAD to fight.

Again, the same pattern of swing. Didn't seems like Omori even though of dodging. Unless he was confident enough to just take it...

Omori did not succumb

Omori was now covered in blood. His own? Certainly. Some of Sunny's, too. But it just made him more... Frightening.

Sunny was beginning to stress, to lose his focus. He needed to calm down, calm down...

Sunny remember Mari's words, she used those to calm him down after he nearly drowned in the lake, this one time...

Breath in... Out... In... Out... Steady your breathing.

When doing his "breathing hack", Sunny felt less... Pain...and a lot less stressed. And by examinating his own body, he noticed that he has fully recovered from his cuts. "So I can do that, too..." he tought to himself. It was a lot less scary to approach the boy with a knife, now that he knew that. Dream rule can be... Practical.

But Omori was not finished with tormenting the poor traumatized boy.

"You tell yourself that you don't want to burden others...But the truth is that you're selfish. You just don't want people to depend on you."

Sunny wanted to make him eat those words. It was a lie... A lie, isn't it? Did he ever thought that?... Was he really the monster he describe?.. Doubt was filling Sunny's mind.

The atmosphere was getting... Darker. Like it was beginning to be more of black space than white space. Or even red space. Omori was beginning to be surrounded by red hand, as red as the blood on Omori body.

"When do you think about others? How long are you going to let people take care of you?"

Sunny remember 3 day ago, when Kel knock on his door. He was really the one who took care of him during those 3 days... All the time, speaking for him, fighting for him. The only thing he didn't do is repay him the money from Hero gift. But still... And Hero, too. He even did his chore, given by his mother, because of the kind hearted man he was, he even saved his life. And what did Sunny do in return? Nothing.

"You say you care but you're a liar. You've never done anything for anyone else. You're useless... less than useless. You're sick. "

A red hand begin to rise up, apparently preparing an attack, but Sunny could not give it attention. His mind were stuck on Omori's words.

Was it... Really him? How Omori was describing him... Was it only just thought, or the reality he was trying to hide from himself again? No...it was just thought. He is not like that... Right?..

"People like you don't deserve to live."

But Sunny was not able to think further, the sudden pain at his stomach stopped him to do so. The red hand, who was getting ready since a little bit of time, punched him exactly where it hurt the most. And it was powerful. Not the force of a human, no... It was really powerful. Like Mr. Jawsum kind of powerful. His breath was cut for a few second

Sunny was projected a few meters back, and curled up on himself on the ground, his arms around the place he got hit. The pain was awful, it was persistent, it was like his inside were tearing apart... But he was not done... He can still fight.

Sunny was slowly getting himself back up, he steady his breath yet again, it was really OP if you'd ask me... Well, he didn't fully recovered this time tho, he could still feel some pain, but it was way more bearable than the previous one.

Sunny sprinted to Omori, a red hand tried to stop him, going to grab him, but he slide below it, getting back up quickly. How was he able to pull that of? He just used Omori own knowledge... All of his fights were HIS fight too. He just had to remember.

His violin bow stabbed the one who was trying to "protect him" right through the chest. It was a solid violin bow, goddam! Sunny step back just after, in a fighting stance. He never looked as determined he is right now. He wanted to see his friends again, he wanted them to know. They deserve to know...

But, as with every attempt..

Omori did not succumb.

Omori seemed... even darker than before. His wound let more of a black liquid than normal blood coming out of his body, before he healed up, and his aura was just... Darker and darker.

The general atmosphere of the white place was more like a red place than anything, and that's when he saw... It.

This long neck, this distorted face with no eye, this creepy wide open mouth, staring at him behind Omori.

Sunny started to panic again.

"Your friends are wrong about you. The person they love isn't you at all. You let them believe in a lie to protect yourself."

It was true, painfully true... He lied to them, for so many years, to protect them, but also... To protect himself of the truth, this painful truth that was ripping his hearth, that was making him worse and worse each time he remembered it... But this time, will not be the same.

"You're nothing but a liar... and when they see the truth..."

Omori did a little break in his sentences, to make Sunny imagin what he was going to say himself, but continued after.

"They'll hate you as much as you hate yourself."

Those words crushed Sunny like a whole house that would fall on him. It was... The truth he didn't want to think right now, the future he didn't wanted to imagin. They were going to hate him. Not only because he killed Mari, but... Also because he lied to them, for so many years... Hero was at his worst because of him, Aubrey became a delinquant because of him, Basil isolated himself because of him, and Kel... Stayed Kel, but was certainly a little broken inside, too, because of him.

Why would they not hate him? They have all the reason to. But he was ready to accept it... He deserved it.

"If they know the truth, you'll never be able to regain their trust. No matter what you do, it will be hopeless. All you'll do is make things worse. It would be better to just die."

Omori hold is knife in a more offensive way, to prepare an attack.

"It would be better to just die."

He suddenly run to Sunny, unprepared yet again, always falling to the trap of Omori deadly words.

This time, he slash his torso, doing big damage to the young man, who felt like the pain couldn't be more intense. He even shouted in pain, and Sunny never scream usually.

His body was shaking, but he had to calm down, use the breathing trick again...

In... Out... Breath... Slowly... No pain... Only breath...

It worked wonderfully again, he was completely healed of his wound, a true miracle. Unfortunately, this thing will always works, right? Right?...

Sunny didn't know if he was close to victory, or not. Omori kept... Not dying. All the time he was deadly wounded, he just... Heal. Like a immortal being.

But will that make him give up? Hell no!

Copying Omori move, running to him in a similar way, because he had technically the same experience as him, he swing his violin bow with all his strengths and determination, finishing by a stab right where the hearth should be. Omori seemed... In pain.

When Sunny back away, he was... Feeling like he did it. Omori was in a so bad state, how could he heal from that?

Yet...

OMORI will not succumb.

Sunny step back, but his hand were shaking, he was beginnings to feel exhausted, and Omori was just NOT DYING. His delusional idea about protecting himself from the truth were that strong?

Plus, Omori has become more and more disturbing during the fight, wich was making Sunny more and more... Scared? Afraid? He was nearly completely black, his eyes were... Even more empty. He was becoming a sort of beast of dark though during the whole fight.

Multiple red hand raised from Omori back, and they were all going for Sunny at the same time. He managed to dodge one... But another one grabbed his head, and before he could even react or scream, he got smashed violently against the floor.

Sunny let out a loud growl of pain. Omori was slowly approaching him, his knife still shining, despite the blood on it.

"You killed Mari. She loved you, and you killed her."

Sunny was slowly recovering from the smash attack, slowly raising his head to watch his enemies approach.

"Hero loved her and you killed her"

Apparently, he was feeling like twisting the knife in the wound of his heart. He was feeling worst and worst, guiltier and guiltier...

"Kel loved her and you killed her."

Sunny was getting back on his feet, trying to calm down even with the hurting word travelling to his ears.

"Aubrey loved her and you killed her."

In...out... In... Out... Breath Sunny. It's not as scary as it seems... Right?

"Basil loved her and you killed her."

But Sunny was trying and trying... But he... Was he really?...

"You loved her, and you killed her."

Sunny couldn't calm down. He was unable to. He couldn't ignore the words anymore. It hurt...so much. Sunny couldn't just accept the truth, does he? He can't accept what he did...

He was feeling afraid now that the boy in front of him was getting closer and closer. But he couldn't run, his legs were stuck in place. And he couldn't attack, it would be useless, anyway...

Was it what he deserved? The punishment meant to judge his actions? Sunny was lost in his own mind when being in his own mind.

"You should just die."

STAB!

The rest happened fast.

A last step was made.

A last attack was executed.

Sunny look down a last time to see a knife inside his body.

Last words were spoken.

"You. Should. Just. Die."

Sunny falls to the side after his alter ego removed the blade.

Some memories goes through his eyes.

Happy moment... Sad one... But they all seems so perfect, because they were before he killed Mari.

He was beginning to accept his fate.

But... Something didn't wanted him to.

"You'll forgive yourself... Won't you... Sunny?"

This voice...

He never forget her voice.

Mari's voice.

So warm... Calm... Gentle...

It was like he could feel her embrace too.

"Don't you remember the last discussion you had with our friends?"

He... Nearly forgot that. In front of the stage... It was one of the main reason he had the urge to win against Omori. To tell them what they deserved to know... Because he trust them. Kel said it was not because he did something bad, that he made him someone bad... Hero was reassuring him by saying they all wanted the best for him... And Kel was more serious then he usually is, being kind and loyal to his friend... Even if it makes them hate him to say the truth... But how could he makes them know if he die here?

"You can do it, Sunny. We believe in you."

Do you want to continue?...Yes

Of course he couldn't give up now!

Sunny, previously wounded corpse, grab back his violin and violin bow.

Omori didn't seemed surprise. More like... Bothered.

Sunny remembers Kel's words.

"Friends... Friends are supposed to be there for each other!"

He get back up, taking a deep breath.

Omori was preparing a final attack, to end it once and for all. Multiple red hand were rising, charging a strong strike.

Sunny remembers Aubrey wish as he steady himself.

"I hope you can find some peace... or you know... some happiness"

He was finally facing and accepting what he has done.

It was the final moment.

Sunny remembers Hero's promise.

"Last time...We made the mistake of leaving each other when we needed each other the most. This time... we'll stay together."

Sunny steady his breath, close his eyes. The bow against the string of his violin.

Sunny remembers Basil's hope.

"Maybe one day... things can go back to the way they were before."

Omori nearly finished preparing his final strike. It was going to end here and now.

Sunny remembers Mari's encouraging words.

"You can do this, Sunny.."

The reds hands were finally ready to strike. They were already going to dive on Sunny, when a music note his heard. The red hands stop immediately...

Piano note was being heard.

A violin accompanied him soon after.

This song was a song of memories. A song filled with life and emotion.

A song that meant a lot to everyone.

It was the song Sunny and Mari were going to play at the recital.

And he was playing it... With Mari. Or, at least, what looks like her.

He finally accepted the truth. By playing the song that was some representation of the terrible secret sealed by Omori, he finally can do something.

The space around them was beginning to turn white again. Omori was coming back to his previous form, the reds hand were fading away...

Every memories were bringed back to the surface. Good one. Bad one. And... The one that started it all. Everything was back in Sunny's mind.

And as the song was coming to an end... Omori accepted defeat by seeing that he couldn't protect Sunny from anything now. He was... Pretty shocked. He didn't expected that.

And as they were looking each other in the eyes...

Omori embrace the one he protected for 4 long years, one last time, before disappearing.

Therefore, Sunny inside conflicts was finished...

He wakes up in an hospital bed...and when he realises what just happened inside his head... He can't help but let tears run down his cheek, as he was trying to make them go away with his arm.

It was like he felt everything he feeled during the fight in 2 seconds, wich mean, a lot.

Finally, after he stops contemplating the ceiling, he stand up.

All around were flowers from the people he met during those 3 day of wondering in the real world. Those were going to be new memories in Sunny's head, and in everyone's head, to forget the bad one. But he know he could never makes them forget the bad memories he's going to make them hear.

Sunny approach the exit, but take a quick look in the mirror, to see his actual state. Basil did took his eyes, apparently. It was all covered with bandages. But it didn't hurted, at least. That was a relief. He was not really sad about losing an eye, he even think it's actually pretty badass, having a eye patch.

As he exit his room, he just realized that he didn't have a single clue of where Basil's room could be. But his mind playing with him again, he see the illusion of his "imaginary friends", and that black version of Basil, going through different corridors, opposed to each other.

Sunny decides to follow the black figure. And after a corner, he saw the imaginary Basil, in front of a door. Sunny guess that it was here that he was staying.

He slowly opens the door, seeing his friend in a bed similar to his.

Kel, Aubrey, and Hero were here, too, looking at him, apparently surprised by him already standing, when he should be in bed resting.

Sunny takes a deep breath, watching his friends one by one. Things were going to get... A lot more messier. But he has to do what must be done. For them. For Mari.

With his natural, neutral looks, he says in a quiet voice.

"I have to tell you something."
