Chapter Text
He woke up in a clearing in the middle of the forest. The grass was green and lush and the blue sky shone brighter than usual. Chan stood up and looked ahead. He came face to face with his 6 coven members. They were having a picnic. Playing and laughing as they normally do. The younger ones play wrestling while the older two watched them with fond smiles on their faces.
He took in the scene in front of him with happiness.
Until... it came again.
A darkness sweeping through the forest coming towards his coven.
He tried to scream, he tried to run, to warn them but all he could do was stand there paralyzed as he watched the darkness take away everything he loved.
"You couldn't save them." A deep voice sounded from behind Chan. "You couldn't save them, just like you couldn't save me."
Chan knew that voice. It was the voice of someone he loved, the voice that has been haunting him. The voice he yearns for. He turns around slowly, this time his body moves.
"Yongbok." He breathes.
Yongbok is standing in front of him, in all of his beauty, wearing the same pure white robe. His face is set in a cold glare that doesnt look right.
"Why didn't you save me Chan. Why didn't you protect me?"
"No-o. I tried, Bokkie-"
"You didn't try well enough."
"Yong-"
"WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE ME CHAN!"
The shouting and ringing in his ears gets louder but the Yongbok in front of him begins to fade. Just before he completely disappears, he asks in one last broken voice, "why didn't you save me?"

Chan wakes with a start. He's dripping in sweat and his pyjamas are sticking to his body in a messy fashion. His sheets are on the floor and there is still a distinct ringing in his ears.
He tries to even out his breathing and convince himself that everything is ok.
"It's was just a dream, just a dream, relax Chan, it was just a dream, everyone is fine Chan. Everyone is fine, everyone is fine, everyone...is...fine"
There it is again. That feeling of uncertainty. The fear that everything is in fact not ok and his mates need him. With shakey legs he stands up and walks out of his room. Vampires don't even need sleep and it's not common for them to dream let alone have nightmares but Chan encourages his mates to get some sleep because they have careers and school and the extra boost helps. He regrets making that decision for himself now.
He stops at Seungmin's room first. When he peaks in he is met with Jeongin and Hyunjin squishing Seungmin while they all sleep peacefully. He breathes out in relief. That's three.
He moves to Minho's room next. Inside he finds Minho asleep but with his back up against the head rest and Jisung in his lap. That's five. He needed to find Changbin.
He walked to Changbin's room but found it empty. He started to panic. Where was Changbin? He descended the stairs of their large manor to go to the living room.
Still no sign of Changbin.
Now Chan is panicking. He walks into the kitchen and finally feels relief wash over him. Changbin is seated on the counter munching on some French fries.
Vampires didn't actually need to eat human food. The only thing they need to keep their dead hearts healthy was blood, and blood usually sustained powerful vampires like them for a long time. Chan's boys just loved to eat for the sake of eating. Minho was very good at cooking so he often made a variety of dishes for his mates to enjoy once in a while. He also used to cook...
Changbin looks over to Chan with a small smile on his face. "You okay, hyung?"
Chan snaps out of his daze. "Uh yeah. What you doing up Binnie?"
"I just didn't feel like sleeping. What about you?"
Chan came to stand between Changbin's legs as he stole a french fry. "Hmm, just... needed some water. " He lied because he didn't want he mate to worry.
Changbin looked at him intensely for a second, as if trying to search for his soul. He eventually buys it and shrugs before continuing to eat. They chill in silence for a while before Changbin reaches forward to softly place a kiss on Chan's lips. Chan leans back surprised. Pleased but surprised.
"What was that for?"
"Hyung, stop worrying about us."
"W-ha, what do you...?"
Changbin sighs before explaining.
"You've been fussing over us a lot more than usual lately. What's on your mind?"
Chan looks down in defeat. He should have known that his mates would see right through him. They've been together for hundreds of years after all.
"I keep dreaming about..about Yongbokkie."
A stiff silence takes place and Chan knows he shouldn've kept his mouth shut. He wasn't supposed to bring it up, he wasn't supposed to hurt his mate like this, now Changbin was going to feel saddened and if Chan keeps messing up he'll lose his mates and then-
"Hyung. Stop overthinking. It's fine, just not what I expected." He lets out a sigh before pulling Chan closer and wrapping his strong arms around him. "Hey, it's ok, breathe." Chan can feel the frustration building up and bubbling over like a heated stream. Cold tears are spilling out of his eyes before he can stop them.
"I just... I see you guys and I can't save you and then I see him and... don't want to lose the rest of you as well."
Changbin holds him a little tighter.
"It's ok hyung. We're ok. We're perfectly fine. What do you think brought this on?"
Chan pulls back a little to look Changbin in the eyes. "I don't know I've just been having a bad feeling recently, but I don't know what it means."
"It'll be okay. Maybe you just miss him." Changbin pulled Chan closer before running his hands down his arms.
"Thanks Bin. Let's go get some sleep."
Changbin looked at Chan with a mischievous smirk before saying, in a high obnoxious voice,"wanna take me to bed Channie?"
Even though vampires are always cold Chan swears he heats up. "Would you wanna come to my bed, maybe I could help feed your hunger."
"Shit hyung, let's go." The younger breaths.
Chan giggles in victory before picking Changbin up and walking him to his room. He forgets why he was upset as the feeling of Changbin pleasuring him for the rest of the night makes him loose himself in his lover.
And just like that his horrible nightmare and feelings of dread are over but not forgotten because life was once again about to give them an unexpected surprise.
