Chapter Text
Darcy steps closer to her sister, hesitating about whether or not she should go and follow Seth.
"What?" Tory calls over the noise.
The entire room is filled with students dancing to the music, and there are multiple disco lights shining a dozen colors all over the room.
Normally, Darcy would have loved this. A night where she wouldn't have to worry about the money due for their apartment. A night where she wasn't concerned about Tory's crazy job.
"Darce, whats going on?" Tory stops swinging her hips for a second and Darcy drops her eyes.
She knows that Tory won't stop worrying unless she tells her, but how can she say she'd have a date with their mortal enemy? Or should she say, not-so-mortal-enemy.
"I have to do something.. uhm, with a guy. You keep dancing, I'll be back!" Darcy finally makes a decision and steps away from her sister.
Tory doesn't seem to like that, but doesn't keep her there. Instead, she smirks before shoving her way through the crowd and dissappears. Leaving Darcy with no other choice but to go and find Seth.
Darcy goes the opposite way as her sister, making her way to the exit that lead outside and to the entrances of buildings like the Aer House tower and the pool.
She takes a deep breath, inhaling the scent of earth and green. Darcy had always loved the outside—though her episodes had been too bad for her to get out. A week before Orion had swung by and taken the both of them to Solaria, she had finally gotten over them and stole the money back in an attempt to feel better.
"Hey!" Darcy gasps as someone slams her against the door leading to the party inside. Pain shoots through her back, and she opens her eyes to see Professor Orion.
"I need to feed." He tells her matter-of-factly, sinking his fangs into her wrist.
"Ow—could you at least be kinder?" Darcy shoots her Professor a glare.
Ever since he claimed her as his Source, she's been avoiding him, but it wasn't easy when she had his class every day and he could find her as easily as he was able to breathe.
Suddenly, something moves in the corner of her eye and she turns her head to find Seth.
He's wearing a suit that makes him look—ugh, she doesn't even want to admit it—ridiculously good-looking. Suddenly she feels the need to get away from Orion very quickly.
"Hurry up!" She demands.
Her Professor glances at Seth. "You shouldn't be near him. Get inside, I'm—"
"Is that a threat?" Darcy grits my teeth.
She knows she shouldn't be so damn naive when it comes to a boy who has repeatedly ruined her life. But.. ugh. Its just blind trust and even though she's terrified Seth will betray her, some part begs her to give him a chance.
"No. Thats a warning." Orion curtly looks at the entrance to the part and back to her.
Then he uses his vampire speed and gets away so quickly that Darcy slides down against the wall in a dramatic music video kind-of-way.
Damn it. And damn him.
"You okay? Did the asshole hurt you?" Seth jogs up to her.
He's so casual.
She nods. "Well, he didn't hurt me. I was just taken by surprise."
"Thats not good. You know that means anyone can sneak up on you and do this—" He takes a piece of her hair and with two fingers acts as if he's cutting it with scissors.
Darcy flinches away from him, half expecting to find her blue ends in his hand, but its empty and instead she finds him smirking at her.
Taking a hand through his beautiful brown hair, Seth glances at his watch and his smirk turns into a devilish smile.
"What?" Darcy asks, nervously.
Is it 12 AM? Is he gonna turn into a pumpkin?
"Listen." He raises one finger to the sky and I shift my head to look up.
A scream pierces through the air. Her hairs stand up when she realize whose it is, and Darcy start running, desperate to find Tory.
