Fountain of Youth

Summary:

It was strangely out of character for Sky to be awake this early in the morning ( or late at night, depending on who you ask). But alas, he was bored and couldn't seem to fall asleep, a quality he had thought he lost when he turned 14. Then again, he was feeling a tad less mature than usual

But Twilight and Warriors were also awake, both having trouble sleeping off the adrenaline of that afternoon's fighting...

What Time didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right?

Notes:

Hello! It's me again! this came out way too late for my liking, but I got it done! (eventually)
Rated T for these guy's potty mouths.

Enjoy!

Work Text:

It was strangely out of character for Sky to be awake this early in the morning ( or late at night, depending on who you ask). But alas, he was bored and couldn't seem to fall asleep, a quality he had thought he lost when he turned 14. Then again, he was feeling a tad less mature than usual

But Twilight and Warriors were also awake, both having trouble sleeping off the adrenaline of that afternoon's fighting...

What Time didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right?

Not that it mattered or that he particularly cared. Sky was already halfway to the window. He was an adult after all, nearly 20! He could do what he wanted.

" What are you doing?" Warriors questioned as Sky opened the window. Twilight looked at him intrigued. Sky smiled slyly, placing his foot on the windowsill. It was only like, 9, maybe 10 feet off the ground. Easy.

" Can't a man get some fresh air?" He asked with a sweet, innocent looking smile.Twilight's eyebrows furrowed as he got up from the creaky wooden chair he was sitting on. Warriors, however, smiled at the implied challenge.

" Time will kill you if he finds out."

" I'm aware."

" You'll never be let out of his sight again."

" I can live with that."

"He'll ground you."

" He's not my father, Warriors. He couldn't ground me if he tried." Sky countered. Warriors smiled smugly again. Raising his hands in mock surrender.

" You're not actually going to do it? Right? You're supposed to be the responsible one." Twilight asked Sky, a shadow of curiosity passed over his face. Sky stepped off the windowsill, leaning against the frame. He raised an eyebrow at his companions.

" So? You're more than welcome to join me. Encouraged even." He offered, waving his hand to the window that wafted night air into the room. That was all the Warriors needed, standing from his seat on the bed, quickly grabbing a coat and joining Sky by the window. Twilight was more skeptical, lingering by his chair. He gestured to the door.

" We can just go, If Time knew that we were going out he probably would let us-"

Sky briskly walked toward the Rancher, clapping him on the shoulder. He smiled that shit eating grin again.

" I suppose, but where's the fun in that?" the knight asked innocently. Warriors laughed from his place by the window.

" Come on now, don't be a stick in the mud. You haven't seen a town until you've seen it at night." He began climbing out the window. Sky winked at twilight and jumped out after Warriors, landing with a roll and an impressed whistle from the captain. Twilight leaned out the window, looking down a few feet at his brothers. Sky dramatically placed a hand on his chest and bowed.

" Will thy fair maiden revoke her place by the aperture and join us humble folk on the ground?" Warriors barked a laugh and was promptly shushed by Twilight, whose legs now dangled out the window.

" Shh, If Time hears us then the fun is ruined!" He whisper-yelled at Warriors. Sky elbowed Warriors in the ribs.

" Yeah! Shhh!" He shushed Warriors loudly. Warriors rolled his eyes.

Twilight sized up the leap,  aiming just right…

He jumped out the window landing a few inches away from Warriors, making the captain startle.

“ I thought you were about to turn me into a puddle of Link with a scarf.” Warriors gasped, a hand resting on his chest. Sky gasped mockingly, his hands in the same position of Warriors’

“ Oh the Horror!” He cried  falling backwards and forcing Twilight to catch him.

“ Get up, dork. I didn’t jump out the window just to stand here.” Twilight stated as he placed Sky back on his feet.  Sky smiled and started walking down the street, his brothers strolling next to him.

They missed the flash of a colored tunic in the window, it’s wearing watching them carefully.

Time was going to explode when he found out.

The night was cold, the group’s underclothes and pajamas doing nothing to stop the chill. Warriors had the foresight to dawn a coat as well as his scarf, but Twilight and Sky were left to fend off the sting of the wind on their own.

They had made a couple turns in silence before Twilight spoke.

“ It’s so quiet. Like another world.”  He mumbled as they walked through the abandoned streets. He had no clue where they were. But Warriors seemed to have a vague idea.  He led the two of them through the cobblestone streets.

The three of them had wandered around the quiet village, vacant underneath the night sky. They spent a fair amount of time goofing around, hiding around corners and behind houses. Sky had taken Warrior's jacket for a fleeting few minutes, giving it back when Wars threatened to put dirt down the back of Sky’s shirt.

It was when they were walking in silence that Twilight got a wicked idea.

Up just ahead of them was a fountain. A big one, glistening with rupees at the bottom. He grinned as he saw it, slowing down a bit so that he was walking beside Sky. He tapped him on the shoulder. His brother looked at him with curious blue eyes.

‘ You see the fountain?’ Twilight signed, he pointed to it. Sky followed his finger and nodded. Twilight smiled, his teeth looking sharper in the moonlight.

Push warriors in’  he signed.

Sky got an evil glint in his eye to go with the evil smile that was spreading across his face.

“ I thought you’d never ask.” He said wickedly.

Sky sauntered up to Warriors. Hands clasped behind his back, whistling a small tune. As they both approached the fountain, Sky grabbed Warriors arms, yelling to Twilight.

“ Now! Grab his legs!” Sky shouted. Twilight complied, grabbing a kicking and squirming Warriors

“ I swear to the golden three- If you- don’t you fucking dare!” He screamed as they walked him over to the fountain.

“ I’ll kill you! I’ll tell Time that you snuck out!”

“ There's no use captain, your fate is already decided.” Twilight laughed. He looked up and Sky

“ one the count of three.” Sky decided.

They stepped up onto the ledge of the fountain.

“ I was going to throw him in on two.” Twilight countered.

“ oh that works. Or we could just throw him in now.” Sky said.

“ Or we could not throw me in at all!” Warriors pleaded. Sky pouted his lip and batted his eyes at the older.

“ oh but where’s the fun in that?” He dropped Warriors arms as Twilight released his legs.

The captain fell into the shallow water with a splash, resurfacing a second later. He looked up through sopping wet bangs at his tormentors, who were giggling through their fingers at his misfortune.

Warriors inhaled loudly through his nose, catching Sky’s and Twilight’s attention. He spoke softly and calmly, barely hiding his smile.

“ Five.”

Sky and Twilight looked at each other, confused.

“ Four.”

Sky’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline, turning on his heel and running . Twilight didn’t wait another second to follow.

 The chase was on.

Warriors leapt up from the fountain, hot on the heels of his brothers. Water dripped from his clothing, leaving a dark trail on the cobblestones.

Realistically, there was no way in hell that he could catch Twilight. The man was much faster than him, as well as harder to pick up or drag.

Sky would also be a challenging prey, what he lacked in stamina, he made up for in speed and agility. Warriors knew that while it would be easier to catch the knight then the rancher, it would be no piece of cake. His point was only proven as he watched the skyloftian effortlessly run up a wall and grab the top, pulling himself over the ledge.

Warriors watched as Both Twilight and Sky darted to a large tree on the outskirts of the little village. Twilight got there first, pulling himself up with ease. Sky was a bit behind, seeing Warriors a ways off and picking up his pace.

Sky pulled himself up just in time for Warriors to reach the tree. The knight was scrambling to claw his way up the branches,Twilight was holding one of his arms in an effort to pull him up, but the poor chosen hero had made one crucial mistake.

Sky yelped as he felt a wet hand wrap around his ankle. He looked to the assailant, who, quite unsurprisingly, was their soggy sergeant. Sky laughed nervously at Warriors, trying in vain to shake the hand wrapped around his ankle.

“ Heyy Wars.”

“ Hello Sky.”

Warriors begin to pull on his leg.

Sky scrambled to find a hand hold, the only thing really keeping him in the tree was his body weight and Twilight’s hold on his arm.

“ Come on wars! We can talk about this!” Sky pleaded still trying to find something to grab on to.

Warriors only pulled harder.

Sky let out a nervous laugh, Making eye contact with Twilight.Whose grip on his arm was interfering with his attempt to get away from the scarf wearing hero.

“ Twi, are you gonna help me up?” He asked through gritted teeth. Twilight hummed and pretended to think for a second.

And oh if that didn’t scare Sky.

“ Twilight… you’re gonna help me, right?!” Sky asked, panicked.

“ Give me one good reason.”  Twilight ordered nonchalantly.

“ Because you love me?” Sky answered, eyes darting back between Warriors and Twilight.

“ Eh, you need a better reason, bud.” Twilight decided. Sky’s eyes got impossibly wider as he was dropped from the safety of the tree. He scrambled to grab a hold of anything. But gravity was against him, and he fell safely into the captain’s waiting arms.

Everything stopped for a moment as Sky looked between his brothers, a breath of “ traitor.”  On his lips. Warriors just laughed.

“ Now what should we do with you?” He looked at the trapped man held in his arms, letting a hint of mischief creep into his voice.

Sky smiled shyly, very confused at his position in Warriors arms. He was unsure of what to do with his hands.

“Uhh, let me go?” He shrugged.  Warriors raised an eyebrow to go along with the smug smile on his face. Instead of letting Sky go, he slung him over his shoulder, inciting a yelp from the young man.

Twilight looked at the two with a very amused expression, and the second that they began walking away, he jumped out of the tree and joined him. Sky raised his head as he heard Twilight approach. Twilight ruffled Sky’s hair, walking in time with Warriors.

“ Bitch.”

Twilight huffed a laugh.

“ What are you gonna do to him?”  Twilight asked the captain.

Warriors smiled and shook Sky a bit, causing  him to yelp again.

“ You’re pulling a lot of shit for a guy who’s ass cheek is within biting distance!” Sky called to them, making Twilight laugh again.

“ And you’re talking a lot of shit for a guy who’s about to get thrown in a  fishing hole.”   Warriors shot back.

Sky was silently panicking as they approached the  pond, it would go up to about his shoulders, and he was a strong swimmer. But Sky also knew that the water was probably really cold.

He lifted his head up to look at Twilight hopefully.

“ You were my brother, Twilight, my friend! Are you just going to let him do this to me?!”

Twilight just ruffled his hair again and laughed.

Sky was placed down on his feet, Holding onto Warriors as the blood rushed from his head. Warriors maintained a tight grip on his shoulders, however, preventing the knight from getting away.

“ Any last words?” Warriors asked Sky,  wheeling him around to face the pond. Sky sagged his weight, forcing warriors to hold him up underneath his arms.

“ I hope Wind puts a fish in your mouth as you sleep, and  the gross slimy taste gets stuck in your mouth forever.” Sky declared proudly, like it was the most profound thing ever said.

Warriors rolled his eyes, smiling as he pushed his friend into the water, just as the pond and village started to become bathed in early morning light.

Sky gasped as he came to the surface of the cold muddy water. His teeth chattered. Shivering in the freezing liquid.

“ This is much fucking worse then a fountain.” He complained as he looked at Wars.

“ You look like a wet rat.” Twilight observed,  very helpfully.

“ You look like you’re about to wake up your mom to tell her that you threw up.” Sky shot back, wiping  muck from his arms as he waded through the pond back to dry land.

Twilight helped Sky out of the pond, wiping the residual muck  on Warriors back. Warriors chuckled at the friendly jab, gesturing to Twilight in all of his pajama-y glory.

“ He’s right, you know.” Warriors told the rancher Twilight scowled at him.

“ Shut up, crusty ass bitch!” He shouted back. Sky laughed at warriors as the playground insult match continued.

“ Dogshit!”

“ Ruffian!”

“ Cud chewer!”

“ Cretin!”

“ Dick.”

“ That's it? Just dick? Come up with something creative, you bag of bulging bulbin shit.”

Sky snorted.

“ Are you just gonna let him talk to you like that, Twi?” Sky laughed.

“ Shut it, featherhead.”  Twilight snapped, making Sky laugh even more.

Twilight flipped off Warriors, who did the same in turn.

“ whoreson.” Warriors said.

“ HA! Jokes on you, I never met my mom!” Twilight yelled triumphantly. Warriors looked as if he really did not know how to respond.

“ Ok, ladies, ladies, you’re both pretty. But can we get back now, the sun is coming up and we all know that Time wakes up at the ass crack of dawn.” Sky intervened, pushing the two older men apart. A look of realized horror passed over their faces. Not a word was spoken except for-

fuck .”  Twilight breathed.

“ We gotta go!” Warriors yelled, racing back to the inn. Twilight was hot on his trail, almost falling as he slid around a corner. Sky laughed and took off after the two, keeping a relatively good pace.

They scrambled over each other as they reached the entrance to the inn. Trying in vain to keep the other two from opening the door before them. Sky was the one who turned the handle, combined with the three of them leaning heavily on the carved oak, they soon found themselves on the ground.

Sky jumped to his feet, quietly peeking around the corner into the main room of the inn. The morning light filtered through the open windows, a couple tables were pushed up against a wall, near the entrance to the kitchen. Next to the now cold fireplace, sat a large armchair, across from it was a loveseat.

Sky let out a small squeak at the blonde hair visible from above the headrest of the armchair.

“We’re too late!” He signed to his companions. Who wore two different expressions of fear.

Is he already in there?” Twilight signed, pointing to the main room. Sky nodded his head vigorously.

Fuck, what do we do?”  He asked his brothers, hands moving quickly.

We could climb back through the window?” Sky offered. Twilight just shook his head.

We would never make it back up. We have to sneak around him.”  Twilight pointed out. Sky gulped, now suddenly regretting not just leaving through the door.

Twilight stood, putting a finger to his lips to silence the other two. He took off his shoes, slowly walking behind the chair Time was sitting in. Sky followed after,  clad in socks, following Twilight with ease.

As soon as Warriors stepped into the main room, however-

“ Boys.” They all froze, knowing that they had been caught but not wanting to admit it.

“ Come here. Now.” Time ordered.

They all groaned.

“ Now you’ve done it!”

“ That wasn’t my fault! That was totally Sky!”

“ Was not!”

A sharp whistle sounded through the room.

“ Four tipped me off when you first left, 2 hours ago . Now sit down or so help me din.”

The three of them shuffled in front of him, squeezing into the loveseat across from the chair. Silence sat heavy in the air while the three of them  struggled to not look at Time’s eyes.

“ Whose idea was it?” Time asked, arms crossed as he leaned against the armchair.

Warriors and Sky looked at each other.

“ Twilight’s.” they said in unison.

Twilight gasped, looking between the two of them. His face took on a resigned expression as he slumped down in his seat.

“ I fucking hate you both.”

“ That's what you get for throwing me in a fountain and dropping Sky out of a tree.” Warriors pointed out. He barely got the sentence out before Time had turned on his heel.

“ You, what?!

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four was laughing internally as he heard Sky,Warriors, and Twilight getting chewed out in the other room. He knew that the only reason Time was mad was because they didn’t tell anyone they were going. Not that they needed too, Four has watched the whole thing. And then he turned around and told Time.

Because he (and the colors) collectively agreed that it was funny to be a snitch, and that Warriors definitely deserved it.

Also he might have been a tad jealous. Just a bit. But oh man, the look on Time’s face when They explained to him that they had thrown Warriors in a Fountain, and then Sky into a pond.

Priceless.

He’d been on his toes for a few days, though. Waiting for the prank or whatnot that was sure to come in retribution. He checked his bedroll for bugs, made sure to keep his canteen close, and stuck to Time’s side like glue. Those boys wouldn’t risk angering Time.

It was when he was asleep that he made a crucial mistake.

Four, sweetie, time to wake up. ” Someone distantly said in a sweet, sing-song voice.

Four groaned and rolled over ignoring the voice.

“Liiiiiink, it’s time to wake up, come on.” The voice said. He cracked his eyes open.

Three shadows fell over him in the early morning light.

Good morning.” Sky said in horribly convincing falsetto. On either side of him were Warriors and Twilight, both had their hands on a bucket that's sloshed with liquid. Twilight's eyes twinkled with mischief.

“ Snitches get stitches, Four.” He said as they doused the poor hero in cold river water.
