May I have this Dance?

Summary:

A songfic for Rainaeiry‘s song of the same name.

Notes:

I‘m not good at fight scenes, so I won’t be describing the fight. There will be little time skips between some dramatic dialogue.

I am also not using the lyrics of the song word for word, but it should still be recognizable.

Also, the characters and the story are not mine, they belong to Rainaeiry, I just wrote it down.

Work Text:

It was half past eleven when Camille finally left the building. The air was cold and the only light came from the moon above. Hers was the only vehicle in the car park, everyone else had left work much earlier. Before she walked through the front doors, she surveyed the empty parking lot. It was force of habit, having grown up as the daughter of a Hunter and being one herself.

She was about a quarter of the way to her car when a voice rang out from behind her. „What‘s a pretty thing like you doing out here so late? It‘s dangerous, don’t you know?“ Camille froze, her heart racing. „You might just end up as someone’s dinner.“ A finely manicured hand with unnaturally long nails came to rest on her shoulder and lips almost touched her ear. „You should run, little rabbit. I‘ll even give you a head start.

Camille was crouching behind a block of concrete, trying to assemble a gun with trembling fingers. She could hear high-heels clicking on the hard ground. They were coming closer. „Come out, come out! Don‘t hide in your burrow, little rabbit!“ After fumbling the magazine at least twice she finally managed to load the weapon. Camille hmph-Ed triumphantly and, in one fluid motion, stood up and aimed. The vampire before her froze momentarily before smirking. „That’s real cute, but a gun won’t hurt me.“ Now it was Camille‘s turn to grin. „Oh yeah? Wanna Test that theory?“ She pulled the trigger.

The bullet shattered against the shoulder of the other woman. A horrible hissing and the stench of burning flesh permeated the air as the holy water contained in the glass-tipped bullet splashed on the vampires exposed skin. She gasped and clutched her shoulder. Camille could see a glint of fear in her opponent eyes. Her smile stretched wider and she too aim again. „It your move, dirty human-killer.

——————————————————————————

This time is was Victoria that was cowering behind something and hiding. Though she chose the Hunter‘s car instead of a random block of concrete. She could hear the human stalking up and down the parking lot, checking behind every trash can and low wall. „Your hunt’s become the Hunter. How‘s it feel?“ Just a bit closer and she would be within reach of Vicky‘s claws, just. a bit. more. Now! Slamming into her, she snarled: „Don’t be so cocky. I‘m much older than you. You should just get on your knees and pray.“

Camille had switched weapons during the fight. Her gun was stowed in her waistband and in her hand she held a small hand-crossbow. It was loaded with a wooden bolt, every Hunters best friend. While the holy water was very painful and could be useful when threatening or hindering a vampire, it wouldn’t kill them. A wooden stake to the heart however….

When Victoria had slammed her to the ground, claws against her throat she had spotted the perfect opportunity. The vampire’s fangs were in her face, she could feel the air moving as she spoke. „Do you dance, little rabbit?“ Camille cocked her head to one side and set her crossbow against the woman’s chest, right above her heart. „Do You?“
