Sleepless Nights

Summary:

It's the middle of the night and Jane can't sleep while sleeping over at Daria's house. Should she have fallen asleep or not...

Work Text:

It twas a peaceful night in the Morgendorffer residence; not a sound to be heard in the entire house.

Everyone was fast asleep, except Jane that is. Jane was laying in her sleeping bag, overthinking everything that could be overthought.

The ceiling fan swirled around melancholically; ramping up in speed, as a tapping sound pierced Jane’s ears. The tapping sound of high heels on the floor, but all those that wore high heels were fast asleep.

“Jane, what’s going on?” Daria asked, waking up in a cold sweat.

Jane whispered, "Can you hear that tapping noise?"

Suddenly, a pale white ghost appeared before them. The ghost was all white; the only other colour was her deep, dark, black eyes.

The ghost lunged towards Jane quickly. Jane tried to move away but the ghost grabbed her neck. The ghost stared into Jane's blue eyes as she slowly asphyxiated her. She was strong for a ghost; her nimble hands wrapped around her victim's thin neck.

The ghost's hands stayed gripped on Jane's neck for six minutes, her eyes rolled back into her head and her body fell limp.

Daria sat motionless, the events of the past ten minutes had silenced her thoughts completely. She would have intervened, if she wasn't frozen like a statue.

And there she was, staring at her with eyes of hunger. The ghost flew towards her second course; she licked her lips as she grabbed Daria's neck with the same strength she used for Jane.

However, Daria attempted to put up a fight with her. If she couldn't save Jane, she could at least try to survive herself.

"Hush now little dove, I am just going to put you to sleep." The ghost's body rose in the air slightly and her eyes glowed a bright cyan. That was the last thing Daria saw before the world went black.

The ghost figured that euthanizing her would be the best method of keeping her meal still. The person has to be still for her to consume their soul.

Once she was finished, the ghost flew around the house to undo the sleeping spell she had cursed upon everyone else in the house.

You would think this was just a dream, it wasn't.
