Work Text:
Headlights shine down what’s supposed to be an abandoned road and Kim pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration and to hide his face.
Next time, Kinn needs to not kill their cleanup guy. Sure, as one of their father’s spies he had to die, but Kinn could have had him train a successor first.
Now Kim is saddled with dumping the goon. Luckily he knows this spot where a negligent farmer lets his pigs graze without much oversight. They’ll disappear the problem in short order.
The passing car pulls over right behind him, headlights blinding. Kim didn’t take into account that he’s not in Bangkok anymore. People in the countryside are nice, ugh.
“Did you break down?” A scrawny teen pops out from the driver’s side. “That’s bad luck out here, there’s no signal! Do you need a hand?”
“Nope,” Kim denies, trying to wave him off. “I’m good. Just a flat tire, I’ve got it.”
“Oh, it’s easier with two pairs of hands! Let me help!” The kid hops out of his car.
Kim curses. This is just his luck. He crouches by one of his tires and subtly jabs his own knife into it.
The kid comes around to join him and Kim curses again. Shit, he’s cute. And he comes bearing his own lug wrench.
He crouches down and flashes Kim a wide smile. “Hi, I’m Chay! You come here often?”
“No,” Kim says, distracted a second too long. “I’m Kim.”
He smiles back. Chay squeaks.
Kim strips off his jacket while Chay fetches his car jack, then takes charge. He makes sure the headlights catch the definition of his muscles as he rotates the jack.
Chay seems appreciative.
Chay chats while they trade off removing the lug nuts. It turns out he’s applying to the same university Kim attends. He’s looking for a guitar teacher.
“I could,” Kim stutters. This is probably a terrible idea. “I could tutor you, if you’re interested.”
“Really?” Chay throws his arms around Kim’s shoulders. “Wow, thank you, P’Kim!”
Kim’s heart is beating so rapidly. Is this what a heart attack feels like?
Chay pulls away blushing furiously. “I’ll go grab your spare tire.”
Kim blinks after him in a daze before -
“Wait, shit, Chay don’t open-”
He’s a second too late, Chay already has the trunk open.
The trunk with the dead body.
They both fall silent. Kim waits for Chay to scream. At least without signal he can’t call the cops.
But the boy keeps surprising him.
“My brother is in the mafia,” Chay blurts out suddenly. “If you’re in trouble he can- I can ask him- maybe he can pull some strings?“
“You would do that?” Kim thinks this beautiful boy is either an idiot or a saint, “You just met me.”
Chay gives him a long look up and down. “Yeah,” he says, and he’s blushing a bit. “You’re one of the good guys, I can tell.”
Kim has no choice but to kiss him.
