Work Text:
Kitty has imagined kissing before. The movies, the novels, and the media, all portrayed kissing in such a way that Kitty was already addicted to kisses despite never kissing anyone before.
When she finally kissed Dae for the first time, it felt right. The tingling in the back of her mind, the softness filling up her senses. All Kitty could do at the time was feel. This, this is it. This is what she's been waiting for all this time.
Well, that's at least what Kitty thought.
After breaking up with Dae, and leaving KISS with a broken heart, that's when Kitty felt like she might've been able to sort through the conflicting emotions running through her. The airport; Juliana and Yuri reuniting, the plane-ride home, and Minho's confession. There were even more things plaguing her than before. It was a mix of who likes who, and who she likes.
When Minho confessed, she considered it. Minho was attractive, and he seemed genuine when he confessed. But Kitty just left a relationship, and he still wasn't the person she couldn't get out of her head. Kitty let down Minho in the nicest way she could, but she still felt terrible doing it, if was heartbreaking to not be able to reciprocate.
When she was by herself, it was Yuri who started to fill her mind once again. Kitty felt terrible about daydreaming about a girl who already had a girlfriend, but feelings were things that people often had no choice in controlling. They just happened. If Kitty could, then she would've been asking Yuri why she was all that she thought about, to try to get reasoning for what confusion these emotions were causing her.
The most unfortunate part about this was that her absence only made Kitty's want for her even more apparent. It started out with dreams. The ones where Yuri was chatting with her, smiling at her, playing with her hair. It felt like they were in a relationship already. They were Kitty's hopes about what she wanted her reality to be like.
But Kitty knew that wasn't the truth, as every time she woke up, she was haunted by the empty chatbox between her and Yuri. Kitty would've usually been the one to say hi first, but she stopped her fingers from typing out a message. She couldn't do this. Yuri was already dating someone. Yuri finally reunited with the one person she wanted to be with. She couldn't ruin that, she couldn't make Yuri unhappy. She knew all of this, even if they were still technically 'friends' and Yuri had no idea that she liked her.
She put her phone away, however, she still checked constantly to see if her inbox would ever ping.
It wasn't until long after that Kitty received a message, but it wasn't from the person she was expecting from. It was a letter from KISS, they decided to reinstate her position at the academy. Kitty jumped for joy after she read it, deciding to tell all of her friends that she'd be back and ready for the next semester.
When Kitty finally made it to Yuri's contact, that's when her hands stalled.
She wasn't doing anything to sabotage Yuri's relationship. She was just going to be telling a friend that they'd get to see each other again. Kitty let out a shaky breath, as she prepared to type in the message.
'Yuri, I'm going to be back at KISS next semester, you probably knew that though...-Kitty'
Kitty re-read the message again and again with her eyes. Should she send it? Should she not? She didn't need to send it right away, did she?
Before sending the message, the pinging sound that became a distant dream to her finally rang out. She was the one who first received a message from Yuri. Kitty hurriedly opened it.
'Kitty,' It read, 'I haven't heard from you for a long while, I hope you're doing well. Check your letters to see what KISS has further decided to do with you. Hint: You'll be my dormmate the next semester.'
Kitty just about jumped on her bed when she read that. She rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. So Yuri already knew that she was going to be back at KISS, but not only that, they'd actually be sharing a room together? Kitty almost fainted. However, she reeled herself back in and tried to think rationally about it. She was ecstatic about the prospect of moving in with Yuri, which meant that Juliana would despise that she wasn't the one. Now Kitty started to ponder again, 'Why will Yuri be my roommate? She has money...she probably could've gotten a place with Juliana...' Even thinking about that made Kitty's stomach twist but she knew that nothing would happen if she were to keep thinking to herself like this.
She texted a question she hoped she would get an adequate answer to, 'You'll be living in the dorms with me? Why?'
After sending that message, Kitty watched her chat like a hawk. She wanted to know the answer as soon as possible. Soon enough, the chat was showing the chatbox loading, stopping, and then loading again. Kitty wanted to rip her hair out; what was so difficult about this question that it was taking Yuri forever to answer?
Kitty soon knew when she received a text that took her breath away.
'Juliana and I broke up. And I didn't want to be so close to my family for once.'
They broke up? They broke up? Kitty repeated in her mind many times over. Should she press for more details? Was it too soon? Ahh, Kitty started to overthink again.
Kitty took another minute to recollect herself, 'I'm sorry,' She typed. 'I hope you're doing okay. I'm here to talk if you need to, just chat with me whenever. Thanks for telling me.'
Yuri did another unexpected move, which was calling Kitty. Kitty jumped when she saw her phone ring.
She answered right away, "Hello."
"Hi," Yuri sounded from the other side. She sounded nasally, almost like she's been crying too much. Kitty pouted at the sound of it, it hurt her that Yuri was so sad.
"Are you okay?"
Yuri sniffled. "I-um, I don't know. I'm sorry to call you out of the blue, but you said we could talk, and for some reason, I thought hearing your voice would make me feel better."
Kitty's heart started to pound again. "Well, I'm glad you would think of me."
That was the start of many conversations between Yuri and Kitty again. It was something comforting for both sides. Kitty hoped that by hearing Yuri's voice more often she would get more used to her. And Yuri found Kitty to be a really good listener.
All of this accumulated into the next semester when Kitty was finally back in Korea again. This time, instead of accidentally being picked up and driven to school by Yuri, Yuri went of her own volition to go pick Kitty up.
When they saw each other again, they both embraced each other. It was a long, long hug. Kitty felt like she wouldn't mind being in Yuri's arms more often.
When they finally separated, they started to prepare everything at the dorms. Yuri thought it'd be fun to actually be a student who uses the dorms, and Kitty was glad to have found a great roommate-even if it was the girl of her dreams.
Everything was going well, and Kitty started to believe that maybe she would just end up being friends with Yuri again. They both just got out of breakups-well Kitty got out of hers sooner, but they weren't probably in the mindset to date.
That all changed when Yuri sat her down one day, and they started to have the conversation that Kitty tried to have before, way back in the airport.
"Kitty, remember what you said to me at the airport?"
Kitty bit at her lip, "Yeah..."
"What did you mean?"
"You're going to have to be more specific..."
Yuri made eye contact with her, "You told me that you thought you knew everything about love until you met me."
Kitty swallowed, her throat feeling even more parched, "I-yeah...," Kitty had to look away. "I said that cause, I have feelings for you that are more than what friends are supposed to have."
Kitty took a peak in Yuri's direction, expecting a shocked face, but Yuri had a look that said all her suspicions were confirmed.
"So, since you said have, that means that you still have those feelings, yeah?"
"Yeah..."
Yuri smirked, "That's good to know."
Now Kitty was getting confused, "What do you mean? Do you like me too?"
Yuri stared at Kitty, gradually closing the distance between them on her bed. She got close to Kitty's ear, "That means...I'll let you pursue me."
Kitty's mind went blank from the proximity, but Yuri said confused her greater, "I have a chance?"
Yuri nodded her head, "You'll have to show me what you got."
Kitty furrowed her brows, her mind started to race about what she could possibly bring to the table with Yuri. However, her brain ended up thinking back to the time when she imagined kissing Yuri.
"I can kiss!" She proclaimed, although she turned red right after.
Yuri raised an eyebrow, she looked at Kitty, amused by her antics. She licked her lips, which Kitty's eyes followed.
"Show me," Yuri said in a small voice, shutting her eyes.
Kitty felt like all her reasoning went out the window. Like a moth to a flame, she approached, Yuri. Focusing on her lips, focusing on how she'd taste. Kitty's hand grasped at Yuri's chin, tilting her head at an angle.
She didn't waste another second and connected both of their lips together.
It was soft at first. Kitty moved her lips hesitantly, Yuri said she could, but she still wasn't sure about all the liberties she could take with her. But remembering that Kitty was supposed to be showing off, she got bolder. She jutted out her chin more, she applied more pressure. She could've sworn that she could've felt Yuri smile against her lips, as she felt Yuri guide her head closer to her where she deepened the kiss.
Kitty let out a noise that Yuri swallowed up. Soon all of their shared emotions were being exchanged through this kiss. Kitty felt sparks that she never had before running through her. It felt like electricity, it might've been nerves or excitement, but she was feeling like she was losing her mind with the sensations. Yuri's hands wrapped themselves around her waist, and Kitty's hands were trailing up and down Yuri's back.
This was a kiss? Kitty was getting lost in it.
That was till Yuri pulled away. Their breaths still intermingled, Kitty could still feel the taste of Yuri's lip gloss on her lips, she could see the way that Yuri's eyes were darker than she has ever seen them.
Yuri was still staring at her lips, "So that was your kiss, Kitty?"
Kitty absent-mindedly nodded her head.
"I had to help you out at the end there though," Yuri trailed off. "I guess that means you'll have to continue to show me."
"Hm?" Kitty asked out, her mind still feeling fuzzy.
"I'll need to experience more of your kisses."
Kitty nodded her head and she once again, connected their lips together.
