Summary:

Things may not be perfect, but they can still be happy enough the way things are.

Work Text:

“Reaper, come on , this is embarrassing !” The whining voice’s words melded together, far below Geno’s typical standards of articulation. A deep chuckle rose up in response to his complaint. “Embarrassing how, love~? We’re alone, I don’t see who could possibly be judging us here.~” Reaper’s smooth voice glided through Geno’s skull as he took a break from peppering kisses along the smaller skeleton’s neck. It was a soft and gentle purr that sent shivers down Geno’s spine. The duo were lying entangled in each other’s arms on the floor of the Save Screen, pressed against each other in such a way that they could feel the gentle thrum of their souls as their chests rose and fell with each breath.

“It just is , Reaper,” Geno whined again, still not doing anything to actually stop the barrage of loving kisses from dancing across the smooth ivory. A lazy smile rested across his face as he lay with his eye closed, comfortably pressed up into Reaper’s chest. Two of their hands sat beside them, fingers intertwined, as Reaper’s other arm held Geno’s waist flush against his own.

“Then stop me, why don’t you~?” The God’s voice was now a seductive purr, his mouth now directly beside Geno’s ear. The smaller skeleton let out a faint hum in response before speaking. “Don’t wanna,” came the simple reply. Reaper chuckled again before planting another gentle kiss against the side of Geno’s skull. “Why even put up a fight if your heart’s not in it, angel~?” He continued pressing small kisses against his lover’s neck and shoulder, nuzzling against him every now and again. Geno hummed once more. Gently tracing patterns against the boney hand draped across his midsection. “Because,” he spoke with an uncommonly flirtatious edge to his voice. “You think it’s cute.~”

Reaper hummed against Geno’s neck, the vibrations sending another shiver down the smaller skeleton’s spine. “That I do,” he breathed out. “But,” Reaper continued, “I’d find you cute no matter what, so you don’t have to try.~” The words elicited a blissful chuckle from the smaller, a faint blush dusting his cheeks. Geno shifted so that he could look at Reaper, his expression lazy and eye half lidded. “Reap?” He murmured, voice sounding a bit tired. “Yeah, Gen?” Reaper nuzzled against his neck again, planting another kiss against the bone. “I wish we could stay like this forever.”

Reaper was quiet for a moment, a blush slowly spreading across his face at the words. “Me too,” he whispered against his lover’s skull, face now pressed up near Geno’s jawline. “Do you think,” began the tentative thought, Geno’s words beginning to slur less as the tiredness slipped away for a moment. “Do you think that someday we’ll be able to? You know, like– obviously not forever forever, but… I just wish I could see you more often, Reap…”

Geno’s gentle words sent waves of emotion running through Reaper’s bones, a warmth rising in his chest at the thought of being able to see his lover as much as possible. “I hope so,” his words held a smile within them as he nuzzled against Geno for the thousandth time, peppering more loving kisses along his skull as his hold around the smaller skeleton’s waist tightened ever so slightly. Geno hummed again as he let his eye close once more, turning back onto his side and making himself comfortable against Reaper again. “I hope so too,” he mumbled, his voice nearly unintelligible through the tiredness that began to overtake him once more. Reaper smiled at how adorable his lover was, peacefully curled against him as his chest slowly rose and fell in tandem with his breath. He stifled a laugh as the smaller skeleton tensed in a quiet yawn, readjusting himself again in Reaper’s arms. “Tired, darling~?” The teasing edge to his voice appeared to go unnoticed as Geno nodded, another yawn escaping his lips. “A bit,” he slurred, voice quiet and overcome with tiredness. Reaper craned his neck to plant a kiss to the top of his skull, smiling against the bone as he took in the moment.

“You should get some rest, love,” he murmured lovingly. Geno whined in response. “But I don’t wanna waste our time together!” Reaper began peppering his skull in kisses again, speaking softly between the gentle pecks. “It’s not a waste of our time, my sweet. I promise.” Another shiver ran through Geno at the pet name. “I’ll still be here holding you, won’t I?” Geno nodded, a smile spreading across Reaper’s face as he continued. “Then it’s time well spent in my eyes.” He planted another doting kiss against his lover’s cheek as a blush spread across Geno’s face. The smaller skeleton hummed acceptantly, seemingly willing to sleep after the affectionate encouragement.

“But,” Reaper began again. “In case I do end up having to dip out before you wake up,” he continued his barrage of kisses once again, attacking every available spot as he spoke between them. “Just know that I love you so much, Gen. Arright?” A cheerful giggle slid out from Geno’s lips as he snuggled closer against Reaper’s chest once more.

“I love you too, doofus,” he chuckled out sleepily, awkwardly lifting their entwined hands up to his mouth and planting a sloppy kiss to Reaper’s knuckles. “And if I wake up with you gone you owe me double the attention next time you visit, got it?” Reaper laughed quietly against him, careful not to jostle him around too much with the motion. “You got it, angel.~” With another kiss to the top of Geno’s skull, the two fell into a peaceful sleep as they lay wrapped up in each other.

Notes:

I'm obsessed with them.
Also this is loosely(very much so actually) inspired by the fact that I saw my lovely amazing wonderful partner today.
