Gunther doesn’t know if he’ll ever get used to the feeling of Jane’s hand in his. Their fingers intertwined, relaxed on the grass, looking up at the sky. Being close with Jane makes him feel like he’s floating high above in the endless light blue, drifting along with the herds of white fluffy clouds.
Fluffy..
Like Jane’s curls. Another thing he won’t get used to, nor get tired of, running his hands through her red locks. He had often made fun of her hair before, but in reality she has such unique beautiful hair. He loves the color, the shape, the amount, everything about her hair. Everything about her.
Gunther and Jane often go into the woods for discreet picnics and to hold each other. His father would never understand, he absolutely despises Jane and her becoming a knight. He’s had to manipulate people and trick his friends so he can make his father happy, well, no more. Soon he’ll be of age and he won’t have to rely on his father anymore, he won’t have to listen to his rants about him being the worst son a father could ask for. He won’t lie to the people he cares about anymore.
He’ll be free, and have Jane on his side, and all their friends including Dragon. Jane is happy that Gunther and Dragon get along again, he’s able to take them up in the sky together away from everyone else.
Gunther gets used to flying up in the sky on Dragon with Jane, at first he was absolutely terrified and a little nauseous. Now he’s as confident flying as Jane is, and they know they can trust Dragon to catch them if they fall. He can trust Jane if he falls, and she can trust him too.
They run around in the gardens laughing and Gunther gives her a red rose. To match that wild hair of yours. He says adoringly and she kisses his cheek.
Gunther gets used to Jane’s hands on his shoulders and having her at his arm while they walk together. They dance in the garden instead of the main hall during parties, and they sit next to each other at the table outside the kitchen. Rake and Pepper are very happy together, they blush and smile at each other every time they make eye contact. Jester cracks some jokes as always and sings them all a beautiful song. Smithy hums along and lights some candles as the night sneaks in on them. Dragon naps by the garden and the group goes to their own rooms and beds.
Jane sits on the swings below her tower room and Gunther sways her from behind. He’ll never get used to having Jane in his arms, he wraps them around her and hugs her tight. Alright, alright, she laughs, what has gotten into you today? She raises a brow and smiles at him as he moves to sit on the next swing. I am just so happy. I have not been this.. happy in the longest time. Thank you. He looks into her majestic green eyes, and gives her his brightest smile. He reaches over to take her hand in his and they sway softly and slowly on the swings.
He’s used to Jane’s quick wit and spitfire mouth, he’s used to their banter during their spars, he’s used to being near her.
Gunther is happy with his life, as it is now.
