Chapter Text
Kate found herself in the middle of a massive FBI case where everything was going wrong and all she could think about was going home and cuddling up to Lucy on their cozy couch engrossed in the TV for some much needed down time binge-watching some trashy TV show.
After 20 minutes of trying to complete some paperwork for the case whilst also trying not to fall asleep in her office she got a reminder that she had a meeting with ASAC Curtis about how the case was going.
So she gathered all her files and reported to him about the case. Whilst Kate was giving her update to ASAC Curtis she got multiple messages from Jane Tennant requesting some FBI assistance on their current case.
So after finishing her meeting with ASAC Curtis she gathered her stuff and headed down to NCIS to help with the case but all she could think about was seeing her adorable girlfriend who she had not seen in days due to the long demanding hours of her current case.
When she got to the NCIS headquarters she headed straight for the war room where the team was already situated.
As she walked in all eyes turned to her she could see they were all concerned about her current appearance as she did not look her best but she just tried to avoid it as she wanted to get the work done although she knew she could and should talk to them because they are her friends.
After the meeting was over Tennant sent Kai and Jesse to pick up their suspect whilst she and Ernie made their way out of the war room to leave Lucy and Kate to talk. As soon as the door shut and the privacy walls were up again Lucy made her way over to her girlfriend.
Lucy had a concerned look on her face as she asked "Are you okay love" after a bit of a pause where Kate didn't answer she asked again "Are you tired?"
Kate gave her a sad look as she said "I think I just want to go home" Lucy grew more concerned as she knew Kate had not been sleeping well due to her current case and how much she had been stressing over it.
Lucy thought about how she had not seen Kate at their home the past few days so she said "I'll talk to Tennant and as soon as this is over I will take you home" Kate looked as if she was about to protest so Lucy cut her off saying "I'll give you lots and lots of cuddles my love" Kate gave a happy sigh as she melted into the hug.
4 hours later they got the confession and Tennant sent everyone home saying the paperwork could wait until monday. So Lucy grabbed hers and Kate's stuff and headed towards her car dragging an exhausted Kate along.
When they got back to the house Lucy helped Kate get into her comfy clothes and then changed herself whilst Kate headed out to the couch. When Lucy finished in the bedroom she walked out and saw Kate collapsed on the couch so she quietly walked over to grab the TV remote to turn on Great British Bake Off.
Once the TV was set she climbed in behind her girlfriend until her arms were wrapped around Kate's waist and Kate's head was resting against her chest so she could feel the steady rhythm of Lucy's heartbeat.
After two episodes of Great British Bake Off, Lucy felt Kate's breathing evening out so she leant down and whispered a sweet i love you into her ear. After a few seconds she thought Kate had drifted off before she heard a quiet mummer of Love you too.
