Secrets and Stars

Summary:

When Lee Felix's college shuts down, he makes the impulsive decision to move to a new country for his sophomore year to attend college for dance. Miroh University is not special in many ways, it's a small quiet college in the middle of nowhere USA that has loose enough ties to the industry that he feels drawn there. At Miroh, he finds himself lucky enough to make friends with an established group, but he quickly realizes that they may be hiding secrets from him, and he learns some secrets about himself as well.

Notes:

Hello everyone! This is my first fanfic I've written since high school (about 10 years give or take) and the first I've ever tried posting. The tags have already given away what supernatural creature each member is prior to the story as well as what the end game pairings will be, I have never written romance before so bear with me on that front, also it will be a while before the reveals happen so be prepared for that. I have the first two chapters posted (since not very much happens in chapter one) and I'll likely be posting a new chapter each week, at least until I run out of what I have prewritten, at which point it could change to every other week.

Chapter 1: Chapter One: New School & Meeting Jisung

Chapter Text

Felix was nervous. He was transferring to a new college, in a new country, where he knew absolutely no one, however, he couldn’t help but be excited as well. When his college back home in Sydney shut down with a six month notice for undisclosed reasons, Felix assumed financial trouble, his parents and sisters thought he would continue his education somewhere in Australia, but then he found Miroh University. He was pursuing a degree in dance, and while Miroh was not a top college for dance, its performing arts programs all still looked really good and offered good opportunities to students and graduates. He probably could get the same education at a Melbourne college instead of flying to the middle of nowhere in the middle of the United States but Miroh had this hold on him he couldn’t quite understand.

The semester was set to begin in three weeks, Felix flew in a bit early to get settled. He was in a double, but his roommate hadn’t moved in yet. He didn’t know a whole lot about the boy, but he knew he was also a sophomore in a performing arts program and his name was Han Jisung. The school didn’t provide any contact information for Jisung, so Felix had tried and failed to find him on social media. Felix wasn’t even entirely sure what day he would be moving in. He hoped they would get along, there weren't very many people on campus yet so Felix was feeling extra lonely and video chatting with his family back home every night before he would look out his window to see the stars. Ever since he was a kid, Felix loved looking at the night sky, his parents growing up told him his freckles reminded them of the stars and he couldn’t help but agree.

The school was more or less in the middle of nowhere, so after exploring the small town the school was surrounded by for two days, Felix already felt like he had seen everything and by day five he was bored. Maybe he flew in too early? Maybe he made a mistake choosing this school? Would it get better when classes actually started or would he be trapped here for at least a year before he can apply to a third college, and would that look bad on his transcripts? Would he be stuck here regardless of how he felt?

Felix was staring out the window, trying to find the constellations he knew best in an effort to keep himself from spiraling further, when he heard the unmistakable sound of something breakable hitting the ground hard, and then a series of swear words. He jumped out of his bed and ran to the door, someone was moving in. Other than the RA who he had only exchanged the occasional hello with, no one else had moved in on this floor yet and Felix was not going to pass up the opportunity to hopefully make his first friend at Miroh. He swung open the door and was face to face with a brown haired boy, trying to juggle three poorly packed and open boxes in his hand while also trying to open the door with a room key and push a fourth box that was tipped over on the floor with his foot.

Before Felix even had a chance to introduce himself, the boy yelled out in fear and fell to the ground with the remaining boxes. Felix managed to stop them from spilling their contents all over the hall, but wasn’t able to actually grab any of them.

“Shit.” The boy swore again. Since he was now on the floor he reached out to right the tipped over boxes and briefly check their contents.
Felix offered a hand to help him to his feet, which he gladly took. The initial shock was no longer visible on his face. “Sorry man, I thought for sure you wouldn’t have moved in yet. Two weeks before the semester starts is pretty early ya know? Most people move in the day before classes, though freshmen move in earlier I guess for orientation and stuff, wait are you a freshman?”

Felix gave a light laugh, “Not a freshman, Lee Felix, sophomore dance major.” The boy’s eyes widened.

“Woah, your accent man is like woah. Sorry, Han Jisung, sophomore music major.” He reached out his hand for Felix to shake.

“Yeah, I had quite the trip to get here so I moved in about a week ago. Just wanted to get used to campus, I’m a transfer.” Felix held open the door while Jisung moved his boxes into the room.

“And you chose Miroh? Why?” Jisung questioned, as he pulled the last box in.

“Just wanted a change,” Felix admitted. It was the best answer he had and wasn’t a lie.

“Well, I know it doesn’t seem like much now, but I promise man. It’s a whole different experience when everyone’s moved in and school starts. Us performing arts majors stay together, you’ll see.” Jisung started digging around in one of the boxes, pulled out a blanket and a pillow and tossed them on his bed. Then he got onto the bed and laid down. “Rest of my stuff’s in the car and is tomorrow’s problem.”

Felix looked over to the clock on his desk, it was ten pm. “Did you at least bring sheets with you?” He asked, as he laid down on his own bed. He hadn’t planned on being up much later anyway.

“In the car, with the unimportant stuff that is tomorrow’s problem. G’night” Jisung’s reply came muffled through the pillow.

While Felix was a fairly neat person, and he could already tell Jisung was not, he already had a good feeling that they were going to be friends and maybe Miroh University would not be so bad after all. “Good night, Jisung.” Before he fell asleep, Felix took one last look out his window towards the stars.
