Work Text:
Dennis angrily unlocked the door to the apartment and entered.
Once he made sure Mac wasn't home, which included calling his name multiple times and checking every room, Dennis burst into tears.
Once he started he couldn't stop, the tears just kept on coming. Truth be told he'd been holding back tears at the beach and then the whole journey back home. He just couldn't cry in front of other people.
He felt like a fool just standing in the middle of the apartment and crying so he sat down on the couch and cried instead. He didn't feel better at all but now he can just go straight to sleep after he crys for a bit more.
Dennis was just thinking about how pathetic he probably looks when he heard someone clumsily trying to unlock the door.
Mac. Who else could it be? Dennis really didn't want Mac to see him in such a weak and pitiful state but he was too tired to even try to move.
~
As soon as Mac realised the door was already unlocked, he opened the door and stopped dead in his tracks. He'd been worrying about Dennis all day, and he'd been expecting to get a call from the hospital at ang moment saying that they found Dennis passed out outside, but here he was safe and sound in the apartment. But he was crying.
Mac had seen Dennis get scarily angry many times, he had even seen him get sad sometimes, but he hadn't seen Dennis cry for years. It was like every year that passed since they were in highschool, Dennis just got more and more closed off.
It took Mac a second to realise that he was staring. He didn't want go annoy or even scare off Dennis, so he carefully walked over to him and sat down next to him on the couch. Dennis turned to face him, tears still streaming down his face.
Mac wasn't sure what to do, he'd always thought that Dennis looked close to tears but never actually expected Dennis to cry in front of him. Mac reached into his pocket and asked Dennis
"Do you want a tissue?"
