Lucy had made up her mind that she would go on a mission with enough jewels to pay for her apartment. Even if she had to go on her own. She shrugged at the idea, although if she thought of it carefully, it could be for the best to do that there would be fewer damages to pay for. However, it would be near impossible to go alone when Natsu found out. He was always tied to her at the hip. She let out a big exhalation of air as a heavy blush Seattle on her checks. Natsu was always unpredictable with his way of acting. It didn't help that he didn't speak much. He was cold to everyone; it seems, with some exceptions, including her in that group.
She entered the guild and was greeted by Happy, who instantly settled in her arms.
“Hey, Lucy. How did you sleep?” Asked the blue cat.
“It was ok. Thank you for asking Happy” She responded to the blue cat as she petted his head when the cat started to nuzzle against her.
“Aye” he practically purred against Lucy's chest
Lucy smiled softly at the cute blue fur ball in her arms. He was always with her looking for some affection, and while he could be kind of mean with his rude comments against her, She knew he didn't mean it in an ill manner that was just part of his personality to tease others. He truly acted like a child from time to time; that was one of the reasons why, in her eyes, he was simply adorable.
She walked to the bar table where Mirajane, as always, stood with a kind smile while looking at the guild. She sat on her usual stool with Happy still in her arms. Mira turned to her and served a strawberry milkshake. It was simply her favorite specialty, Mira's.
“Good morning, Lucy. How are you today?” Mira greeted in a chirping voice. It was her attitude that Lucy admired. She was a kind and strong person who was able to lift your mood no matter what. “Are you looking for something or someone?” She asked with a terrifying glint in her eyes. This was one of the worst, if not the only problem, with Mira's' personality. She was obsessed with matchmaking people. Especially her with Natsu.
It had become worse after she had once drunk with Cana, and she spilled her feelings towards the dragon slayer in her weak moment because of the alcohol. She was a lightweight drinker. And after having been teased for her confession, she had vowed to never drink with any of the girls ever again. After all, everyone now knew that she only needed a cup of alcohol, and she would tell them everything without holding back.
Her cheeks reddened at Mira's' comment. “No… But I would appreciate it if you helped me with knowing if you got any new missions.”
Mira put her hand on her chin in thought. Her face seemed to light up.
“OH yeah, there was a new mission that arrived this morning.” She mentioned as she reached below the bar table for the mission book records and new missions waiting to be posted on the board. “Here we go. I believe this job will be perfect for you”.
Lucy received the mission flier that was handed to her by the barmaid. ‘LOST CHILD’ was written in big letters at the top. It was what got your attention at first sight that it was also in the color red, only that line was in red. 'Child lost at Wilbur Forest. We require a mage urgently. Reward 10,000,000.00 Jewels. Rewards can increase depending on the quality of the job.'
Lucy's' eyes twinkle at the flier. This was a job made for her. Especially with the amount for the reward. It didn't seem that difficult to look for a child and bring it to its parents. She smiled at the thought of being able to help reunite a family. 'They must be worried about their child' Lucy thought.
She had a tough childhood when growing up she lost her mother. She was ignored by her father for a long time, as she remembers, but it had taken a turn for the worst after the loss of her mother. He had become time abusive verbally and physically. She had yet to forgive him after his stunt of trying to destroy the guild and kidnapping her by hiring Phantom Lord.
“ Are we going on a job, Lushie?” Happy questioned, trying to take a good look at the flier. “ Can I join?” he asked with excitement as his round eyes twinkled with plead. How could anyone resist such a cute expression?
“Alright, let's go together !”
“Aye. I’ll let Natsu know” he exclaimed as he set off to find the chaos dragon slayer.
“Alright Lucy, I will write your team down for this mission !” Chirped Mira. Lucy hesitantly nodded to Mira. With Erza and Gray on the same team as Natsu, it was for sure that there would be no money left for her rent. She sighed dejectedly; she was so immersed in her thoughts that she failed to notice the warm and dominant presence of her guild mate. It was only when he reached from behind Lucy to grab the mission that resided in her hands. She turned and was greeted with olive green dark eyes that looked with a scowled at Mira and then to the mission in his hands.
“It will only be us," he stated sternly. As if reading the question of their team members he responded with a smirk "red and ice dick are not coming with us" his tone let Lucy know that there was no room for augment.
On one hand, it would be kinda awkward to be alone with Natsu, it had been long since it was only them plus happy. Erza and Gray had accompanied them to most missions after they had formed a team, and then Wendy was added too. However, with Wendy on a mission of her own with another member and not knowing when they will be back, it would just be only the original trio.
Not only that, but adding her feelings for the dragon slayer to the cake. It had trouble spelled all over it. Lucy just hoped that it didn't become too awkward of a situation.
