The Brooklyn and the Mushrooms Kingdom have been saved by Mario and Luigi, but only Mario was called their “hero”. Luigi accepted that, he was happy because his "big" brother was really appreciated and useful. Mario was over the moon. Even his height complex didn't matter, because red mushrooms make him bigger and stronger (even if he still hates to eat mushrooms). Also, he fell in love with beautiful and strength Princess Peach. He was her knight or prince.
Luigi became Mario’s shadow. He always had been, but now, when Mario was famous and everyone wants his autograph and attention, Luigi was pretty jealousy and felt guilt about this ugly feelings. However, indeed, Toads treat him kindless and without disrespect. Especially, when he heard rumours about he should return to the human world because he was weak, scaredy-cat and useless and didn't fix here. But was his last straw when Mario didn't plead Luigi’s honour, he said that they just joked and “don't take it too seriously”. Luigi really hated that jokes. His brother doesn’t protect him against rude people anymore. Luigi didn't fit in this world. And what more, Mario didn’t see his loneliness.
Luigi heart broken in many shatters when his older twin forgot about their birthday. This was their tradition when in this day they always bake a cake together. Currently, Mario was fixated about Peach and he only talked about her all the time. He baked and ate a cake alone in a completely empty house. He felt ugly feels again. Anger is the wrong emotion. Mario is just busy - he tried to comfort myself. He should be celebrated his birthday with his human family, but Mario wanted to celebrate their birthday in Mushroom Kingdom instead... So he couldn’t come back to Brooklyn. He couldn't betray Mario. He loved his brother no matter what.
Now Mario became mature. Basically, they both are adult, but Luigi thought he stuck in his teen's era. He didn’t have a lover, he was terrible at flirting, and he was a shy person. People don't like freaks. Luigi understood and accepted it. But something changed in his mind when he almost lost his life a while ago. When he almost plunged into the lava, he had regrets, his life was bored and this was only his fault. He was pathetic. He wanted to change something in his life.
Few months ago he hoped to be braver, more assertive, be true to himself, not controlled by fears and anxiety… but he didn't change even a damn thing. Luigi realized that if he won't change now, he’ll be stuck in this dark place forever. How much longer he's cheating himself and promises that next year be different, On and on? No. It’s time to do something. Now.
He packed two pieces of cake and went to the castle. He wasn’t the only one who was lonely here. Bower was stuck in a bird cage. Nobody took care about that monster, except Luigi. Because of his kindness, Bowser wasn’t hungry every day and didn’t die from boredom. Green plumber liked to listen when Bowser’s play in the small piano and sang about his tragic love.
“Green Mario, how dare you! I had to wait much longer for my food than usually I do! Today, you are fucking late!” Bowser snarled starved.
“Mi scusi! I had hard time yesterday… Anyway, I have your food and also something special only for you” he showed him the box with cake.” But for later” He put on cage Bowser's food.
“This sweet cake… Who have birthday? Peach?” Bowser said angrily and stared to eat.
“No…this was my i Mario birthday…WAIT… Don't you remember when Princess birthday is, do you?” Luigi was stunned.
“What?! NOOO! Don't be ridiculous!! Of course, I remember about her birthday!!” answered nervously.

After a while with uncomfortably silence, Bowser said, "If you tell someone like Peach or your stupid brother about it, I will kill you, get it?!” He threatened poor Luigi.
“I-I got it” Luigi nodded many times. He wanted to cry because he was pathetic.
“WHY ARE YOU CRYING?! I don’t hurt you…yet” King Koopas sight “Do you don’t like gifts that they bought to you?” He raised an eyebrow “I don't think that you are picky and petty, Green.” he smirked, but he noticed that Luigi stared crying more “Green?” he asked a little worried. He didn't hurt this dump human, right?
“They forgot…, he forgot…” Luigi mumbled and sniffed.
“Forgot? Who and what?”
“Mario!” Luigi yelled, “He forgot about ours birthday… I spent my birthday …alone.” He hugged himself because he felt so sad and broken. He hated himself. Why he told this to the worst enemy?
Bowser blinked stunned. Always was so funny when Green Mario cried without reason, but not this time. This was a huge chance for Bowser. Mario screwed up! Her hero wasn't that perfect like Peach thought. If Bowser tells her, she definitely returns to Koopas King. Hear wedding bells again!
In other hand, broken Luigi wasn't funny for Bowser and… he really liked spent time with Green Mario.
“ Listen carefully, Luigi, because I won't repeat. You gave me your cake, so I will create a song for…” he cleaned his throat “...you”.
“No, no, I don’t want to bother you…” said stunned Luigi. His eyes became bigger.
“ SHUT UP!” he yelled at him” I want to do it with my free will, so shut the fucking up your mouth, listen and enjoy!” added irritated Bowser
"Mi scussi, Bowser" - Luigi nodded again.
" And don't use your stupid language near me" Bowser felt a headache.
"I-I'm sorry!" - added trembled Luigi.
"Ugh" sighted Bowser. How he can respect this green's idiot when he didn’t even respect himself? It is a challenge for Bowser to learn Luigi some assertive rules. But if Bowser manipulate Luigi against Mario, Bowser will win everything.
