Chapter 1: New Allies, New Truths

Chapter Text

“Great. Just Great. This was supposed to be a nice calming vacation away from war, but here we are once again being brought into another unneeded fight,” The red twin-tailed knight thought to herself as her two best friends charged recklessly towards the sounds of conflict.

“Come now, My comrades in temporal rending, it is unbefitting for the descendants of heroes to abandon those who are in peril. We, the Awakening Trinity, shall fend off those dastardly brigands,” The blonde myrmidon shouted with vigor. Were he not royalty, She would’ve put a muzzle on him like a dog who barks too much ages ago.

Usually, she did not mind his antics. But this wasn’t the usual. This was her vacation away from fighting and war and now she’s spending it fighting.

The blonde swordsman looks at the enemy, “ HALT, FIENDS! As one chosen by forces beyond your mortal comprehension, watch as my sword hand twitches ! It hungers… for Justice. Leave now if you value life and limb, for I cannot stay my aching blood !”

The battlefield stops for a moment as they all look at him. “ IMSORRYIMSORRYIMSORRYIMSORRYIMSORRYIMSORRY ” is all she can think, her face flushed red, before the Golden haired Swordsman in a swift motion removes the sword arm of the brigand before shooting a quick crackle of electricity of a Thunder spell stops his heart, killing him.

“For the son of that legendary Tactician, you sure make some bad tactical decisions,” The azure mercenary comments, drawing Steel and quickly engaging in battle with the brigands. With Flow of the Ylissian royal Sword Style, and Grace of a Dancer, he sunders the brigand in two in one fluid motion. Blood splatters but not a drop hits him, as he turns to face the next one.

“Still,” He winks at the white haired woman with an Ax, and she rolls her eyes before continuing to fight, “If it gets me closer to that beautiful lady over there, perhaps they aren’t too bad.”

The two boys begin to hi-five mid fight, which only further provoking the enemy.

Having seen just about all she can take of this, the red haired Swordswoman grows angrier, unsheathes her blade as it glows with a bright blue and yells, “I’ve had ENOUGH!” , as the Luna skill procs and she flashes forward behind the enemy, cleaving him down, a dust cloud appears where she once was before she turns to her comrades in arms.

“You idiots! Owain! Inigo! Quit fooling around before you get cut down, or I’ll cut you down myself.” She huffed angrily, annoyed at them for fooling around when they pulled her into danger. She thinks about how her father feels taking care of the Exalt and wonders how he does it.

“Yes ma’am! Sorry Severa!” The two yelped, turning their attention to the fight with more vigor and fear in their hearts.

“Honestly, how did we even get caught up in this mess?” Severa facepalms for returning to her stance.

Not long after the defeat of Grima, A large Ball had been held in Ylisstol as a celebration, and all of the Shepherds were in attendance. The Shepherds were a mighty Militia of Heroes under the Command of Exalt Chrom as its General and the Grandmaster Robin as its Tactician. Under their leadership and tactics, they lead an offensive against the Risen, the Grimleal and the Fell Dragon Grima. With a final sacrifice from Robin, the threat of Grima no longer loomed over their heads ever again. As Grima's body began to disintegrate, Robin also began to as well. As the distraught army runs to them, Robin simply thanks Chrom and the others, hoping that they will meet again in another life…

“Lucina? What are you doing by the balcony? The party is over here.” A familiar voice calls out to her from her trance, reminiscing the memories of the past week. Her Father, Chrom Lowell, looks at her with happy eyes and a bright smile. She can’t help but smile in return as she hugs him suddenly.

“Woah. What brought this on?” he asks, quickly reciprocating the warmth of her touch.

“I’m sorry, Father. It’s just… We succeeded. I traveled back in time with my friends to save you all and stop Grima from destroying the world. I should be happy. I am happy. But…,” Lucina looks down as she remembers Robin’s smiling face while he disintegrated.

Chrom cups her face and wipes away the small build up of tears from Lucina’s eyes. “I understand. The loss of a friend is hard, He was my best friend as well. But I don’t think he’s gone just yet. Knowing him…” Chrom smiles while looking out of the balcony, “I bet he’s sleeping in some random field waiting for us to pick him up.”

Lucina smiles at the thought of Robin just lying in a random field again like how Her father, the Future Father, told her how they met. “I’m sure he is.”

“Now come, we’ve got some Sheep to Shepherd. I think Vaike and Sully got into another match. And your mother’s anxiety isn’t getting any better.” Chrom takes Lucina back inside.

As they enter, Lucina sees her friends who traveled with her from Future to the Past. She hugs Chrom once more before separating to go speak with them once more. Chrom nods and walks into the Arm wrestling match between Vaike and Sully attempting to stop them from fighting during the Ball.

“Sister! Come join us, we have some news to tell you.” Inigo waves from the group, standing next to Owain, Severa, and Morgan. Inigo was her brother, the crown prince of Ylisse, who took after more of their Mother, Olivia, as she took after her father. He was a bit of a Philanderer but knows how to turn off the charm when it counts.

“Hail Cousin! Your Divine Blood, and My Fell Blood, clash and I could sense your approach from a Kilometer away. Truly you are the Light Swordsman and I, your Dark counterpart.” Owain, Her cousin, a colorful fellow in personality, but steadfast and strong. He kept the group morale up even when the going was rough. A skilled swordsman as well, and aspiring Dark Mage. He's also the Son of Robin and Lissa, The Shepherd’s Tactician and Princess of Ylisse respectively.

“Hey Lucina. I missed you! I’m sorry we haven’t been able to talk since that happened. But we can catch up now!” Morgan, Her other Cousin. Inheriting her amnesia and white hair from Robin, she came from the future but seemingly a possible alternate timeline. Regardless, She takes after Robin in tactics, a near second when it comes to Tactical prowess on the battlefield.

“Hey, I like your dress. Or whatever.” and Severa, a good friend of hers.  She’s the daughter of Cordelia and Frederick. One of the 13 other kids who journeyed to the past with her. She’s rough around the edges but she’s Stouthart and fiercely loyal. Couldn’t ask for a more caring companion. While she comes from a Noble family, she takes herself more seriously as a knight and a fighter.

“Hello everyone. What did you need to tell me?” She asked curiously.

“We’ve decided, we deserve a break.” Severa says bluntly. Lucina listens intently, making sure to hear every word. “I mean 3 wars we’ve been a part of. I think all of us deserve it. And not that it matters all that much, our baby selves will be born soon. It’s not like we’re leaving forever but… I don’t know.” Severa twirls on of the twin-tails in frustration.

“Basically sister, Me, Owain, Morgan and Severa are going on Vacation. Search the world, find ourselves, fall in love. Be back in like a year maybe.” Inigo explains. Lucina looks shocked, They’ve been together for the past 18 years of all of their lives. It felt a bit weird to suddenly separate.

Morgan speaks up, “Well. We were wondering if you wanted to come along with us. We asked the others already but they seemingly had other things they wanted to do. But there’s also an additional reason we're doing this.” Her smile is bright and her hands are warm. She may be like her father but she’s far kinder than he is. Perhaps it's a side effect of being an amnesiac.

“We’ve decided that on our travels, we strong and happy few, will embark on a perilous journey on our quest to search for the one whose bond is tied to us all.” Owain says in his usual fanciful talk. Severa smacks him at the back of the head, alluding to speak plainly. “Basically, we’re looking for Father. He’s bound to show up in a field right. Instead of waiting, let’s actively look around.”

Lucina thinks to herself. For a moment. She had finally obtained the peace she so longed for. But does it make sense for her to be here, especially so close to her baby self. Plus they’re right. It’s better to search than to sit and wait.

“Ok. I’ll join.” Lucina smiles.

“Great! We’ll be leaving in a week. So make sure to say your farewells and pack up anything you need.” Morgan says before hugging her tightly.

“Right. We’re looking for Robin. Let’s get this over with then.” Severa remarks before taking down another brigand. She looks around and there’s more of them. “This would be much easier if Lucina and Morgan were here though.”

“If only a certain eccentric didn’t suggest we split up! Never split up the party!” Inigo grunts, slowly becoming further surrounded by Brigands. “Naga knows what they’re up to! A LITTLE HELP HERE!”

“Shoot! I’m surrounded too! Just hold on until I'm there!” Owain shouts, loudly.

Suddenly, a flash of blue streaks on by and many of the brigands fall down unconscious. All of them think Lucina simultaneously, but the stranger is different. This Blue Haired individual stares at them before nodding and continuing towards the rest of the Brigands.

“Thank you. I don’t suppose you’ll take a day with Tea as thanks for this afterwards?” Inigo says quickly, enchanted by the mysterious Mercenary woman clearly looking for a date.

A deeper voice comes from behind, “You there! Are you still good to fight on?” They turn to see a man on horseback in heavy armor. “I’m Jeralt of Jeralt’s Mercenaries. Most of my troupe is asleep right now save for my daughter. So we’ll need your help.”

“We would’ve been fine!” Owain and Inigo make a face as they recognize that competitive streak in Severa’s voice. She was right, they would’ve been fine. They’ve been through worse. But that doesn’t matter when she’s worked up like this. “But whatever, We’ll help your stupid fight.”

“What she means to say is, Thank you for helping us, and we would be glad to assist.” Inigo translates.

Jeralt nods, then saunters off into the fray. Severa charges ahead after him. Wasn’t she just upset we brought her into a fight, now she’s charging off on her own. Inigo quickly runs after with Owain not far behind charging up a spell as Electricity Crackles in his hand.

“BINDING STRIKE WITH THE BLAZING SWORD! ELDRITCH SMACKDOWN!” yells the magic swordsman as he casts Thoron and critically rips through a wave of enemies. “DID YOU SEE THAT!” He yells in excitement. Jeralt almost begins to believe them when Severa says they could’ve handled it. The support is certainly helpful at least.

“INIGO, LET’S GO!” Severa commands, her blade glowing a familiar dark blue hue. Inigo in sync with her jumps high into the Air, performing the Ylissian diving spin attack as his blade shines a bright gold, His Sol skill activating.

PICK A GOD AND PRAY! AETHER! ” They scream in unison as their Sol and Luna fuse, creating a sort of pseudo-aether skill, cutting the enemies down in front of them. “You two go ahead. We’ll handle the stragglers, go save those kids!” Severa yells at the blue haired girl.

They turn around and face the rest of the brigands as Jeralt and his blue hair companion run off to protect the kids.

“Just like old times. Right guys?” Inigo says in a smirk, looking back at an annoyed but accepting Severa and an Excited Owain, ready to test his magic.

“You guys are impossible.” Severa says unable to hide her own smile.

“On Three then?” Owain asks, his blade now sparkling in electricity.

“THREE!” They all shout in sync as they charge into the fray, weapons at the ready.
