Chapter Text
Fulgur never expected it work out this way. Yes, he'd known Uki Violeta - everyone did. He was the new kid at Nijisanji University, and was known to flirt with any and every guy he came across. Went out with the popular kids, had fantastic style, and was famous for accepting one-night stands then ignoring you for the rest of your life. Fulgur agreed, yes, he was objectively attractive, but Fulgur didn't really like his attitude towards life. However, it seemed fate willed it. He'd been rooming with Sonny Brisko, his friend Alban Knox's boyfriend, and Alban wanted to switch.
legatus_fulgur : yeah, who're you rooming? i got sonny
albanyan : awww, luckyyy, can we switch? i haven't seen mine yet
legatus_fulgur : i mean sure i'm ok with anyone really
legatus_fulgur : maybe it'll be yugo? hopefully
albanyan : idk, i'll tell whoever it is that we're switching ok
albanyan : have you moved in yet?
albanya : my roomie hasn't - its like completely empty in here
legatus_fulgur : yea i moved in some shit but its all in boxes rn
albanyan : cool
albanyan : ok it was nice talking but someones coming into the shop rn gotta go
legatus_fulgur : alright, see ya later
albanya : you still down for dinner with sonny and yugo and me?
legatus_fulgur : yep i'll be there
Alban worked at a coffeeshop downtown and worked post-classes. Fulgur also had a job - as a bartender at the Third Eye. He's been on a break recently and hadn't gone in, and was actually pretty excited to get back to it, he liked mixing drinks. The only actually semi-annoying bit was having to flirt back with the customers, although it wasn't so bad in some cases. Either way he'd never found someone to get particularly attached to, and simply enjoyed the job.
As he left his dorm on the way to the restaurant they'd made a reservation at, he began to wonder about his new roommate. Would they be clean? (Fulgur certainly wasn't.) A good cook, maybe? Hopefully not too busy or chaotic. Fulgur himself was out from six to twelve each night except Sunday working, but he'd really rather come back to a clean dorm than not. Sonny would have been a good roommate, but sometimes you've gotta sacrifice a bit for a friend - Alban would be happy.
Fulgur rounded the bend to the restaurant he and Sonny had selected for their dinner. It was a beginning-of-the-year celebration, although it didn't really seem to Alban something to celebrate.
"Yo, Fuu-chan, how's it going?"
Yugo Asuma was standing in front of the restaurant with Alban and Sonny beaming.
"We waited for you, although Alban wanted to go in," Sonny added with a smile. "C'mon, Fulgur."
They entered, laughing and arguing.
"I was not trying to ditch Fulgur! I simply figured we could get out of the cold!"
"Sonny's an Aussie, wouldn't he be cold and not you, 'Phantom Thief'?"
"Oh come on, Sonny's used to the weather here. I'm just naturally cold!!"
"Don't worry, Albanyan, I'm not offended. Right now."
"Fulgur!"
Fulgur laughed, enjoying himself over their dinner together. Even when they were arguing, it was always fun their little group, 'Noctyx,' got together. They hadn't met up for awhile, and while Fulgur wasn't the type to admit that he missed them, it was always fun meeting up when their schedules were clear. Most times Fulgur's work interfered, as he ate at five and had to be at the bar at 5:50 to change shifts, etc. All the others also had part-time jobs and were farily busy, making meeting up even harder these days. Fulgur sighed and leaned back in his chair. Sonny noticed this.
"Are you getting tired, Fulgur? It's kind of late anyways, we can wrap up if you want."
Fulgur thought for a bit then nodded. "Yup, I think I should probably make my way back to the dorms. I need to be up at seven tomorrow anyway. It was nice meeting up though. Let's set something up soon."
They agreed to try and meet up soon, and Fulgur was soon on his way back to the dorms. He walked down the hallway, yawned, unlocked and opened the door to his dorm, then gaped. It was clean, smelled like flowers and was decorated. He took a step back and looked around. Yep, this was his dorm. He peered through the door. It was around ten, and no one was around. Fulgur walked in and began to look around. The kitchen was full of dishes, curtains were up by the balcony, someone added purple plush rugs and a soft beanbag resided near the window. On a shelf was a note written in loopy, neat handwriting.
To whoever's my current roomate,
Alban didn't tell me who you were, although I'm guessing you who I am.
I am currently out and probably will not return until later, there's no need
to wait up. I may or may not return drunk, it depends. There is food in
the fridge, I made fried rice and chicken. Help yourself but I swear if you
mess up the kitchen I spent forever organizing, we are going to have a
very severe talk tomorrow morning. I am generally free during lunch and
dinner, and get up around ten in the morning. If I'm hungover, don't worry
I've learned how to deal with it myself. I will try not to be a bother but
no guarantees, I'm myself and you'll have to deal with it. Sorry :)
- Your roommate
P.S. I will probably be back around three in the morning, as I said, no need
to wait up. Have a good night! :)
Fulgur looked at the note in disbelief. Whoever this person was managed to:
1. Not figure out who he was - certainly they could've asked, right?
2. Not mention their name or anything particularly defining in the ENTIRE FUCKING NOTE
3. Somehow still be the type roommate Fulgur was hoping for : clean, can cook and not super bothersome. (Or at least they're gonna try...)
He sighed and went back into his room. They'd rearranged his room, adding a curtain to split the room into two. His room layout was actually surprisingly similar to how he'd had it, just a bit more cramped. He peered beyond the curtain, which was light and red. On the other side it was purple and silky, and then he froze in shock.
His side was quite simple and rather boring, but their side was detailed. Very detailed. A large fluffy four-poster bed, a neat rug, bookshelves, lights on the walls, constellations on the ceiling, plants, curtains, etc. It made his room look quite boring in comparison. He sighed, hoped said person was nice, and went to sleep.
