Chapter Text
“...don’t end up like me.”
“...Grandpa?”
The day Itadori Yuji’s life changed forever began with leaving the home he shared with his older sister, but the last vestiges of normalcy ended with the death of his grandfather.
He gives you a call after he’d filled up the paperwork for your grandfather, not wanting to bother you when you ran the cafe all by yourself in order to support your little family. Yuji knows that you’ll immediately drop everything to come to the hospital, which is why he opts to tell you once he takes care of everything instead.
When he finally does get home, he is no longer the Yuji who left for school, a fact that you swiftly realize from the moment he stepped foot inside.
“So you’ll be studying in Tokyo then?”
“Yeah, but I’ll be sure to come back home on the weekends!”
“...My little Yu-chan is growing up almost too quickly,” you sigh before wrapping your arms around him in a hug. “Be careful over there, okay? Don’t forget to practice your katas every day, and call me if anything happens or if you just want to talk.”
Yuji hugs you back, committing to memory the softness of your body as he prepares to leave the life he’d once had. His grandfather felt more like his own father growing up, and when you arrived in their lives, you became the mother he never knew.
Which is why he must leave.
If only to ensure that you can live a much safer life.
“And Yuji? Do introduce me to your new sensei one of these days. I have to thank the person who saved my little brother’s life.”
Yuji doesn’t know why, but a sense of dread welled up within him for some reason at the thought of you meeting Gojo.
In another location, one Gojo Satoru sneezed as he ate his kikufuku mochi .
