Chapter Text
This whole mess of a story I’m about to tell started with me and my sister fighting near the shack.
“You know what Mabel? I AM DONE, every year we come back, AND EVERY YEAR YOU LEAVE ME BEHIND FOR SOME BOY!” Dipper yelled at Mabel
“I’m sorry…I don’t mean to” Mabel was standing there unsure of what she should do, or could do.
She tried to go in for a hug to apologize but Dipper just pushed her away, causing Mabel to stumble into a nearby puddle.
He turned away and started walking off before he heard the splash
Dipper looked back to Mabel, now soaking wet. He hesitated, glancing back and forth. He started to reach out for just a split second before putting his hand back down and speed-walking off into the forest.
Mabel sat in that puddle for a bit, thinking about what just happened, after a little while she got up and chased after Dipper into the forest.

“Ugh, why does Mabel have to be so, Mabel?” Dipper yelled.
Dipper wasn’t sure how many hours had passed by now, it seemed rather late now, but he was deep within the woods, the thick layering of trees making it hard to see the sky.
He sighed “I should probably find my way back to the shack.” He muttered to himself.
He turned back and tried retracing his steps before very quickly realizing he was lost.
He was looking around for something that could help him on his way back and saw something very familiar in the corner of his eye.
Should I? He said it’d be safe.
“Dipper!” Mabel called out.
She was starting to lose a bit of hope since she’d been looking for hours with no sign of him.
“Dipper?”
Mabel sighed, “It’s really late.” Mabel said, looking at her watch, “I don’t want to return to the shack without Dipper.” Mabel thought for a moment “They’re probably really worried, I left without mentioning anything.”
Mabel yawned a bit, she was exhausted.
“Maybe..a little nap wouldn’t hurt.” Mabel sat down “But not..too long, they’re worried.”
Mabel dozed off, when she woke up she panicked a bit. She could see the sun beaming down through the trees, how long did she sleep?
She got up and brushed the leaves off her sweater. She had no idea where Dipper was and had been missing all night. She started walking around a bit more, ready to return to the shack.
But when she looked around a few trees, she spotted Dipper, standing near a pile of rocks.
“Dipper!” Mabel dashed over to her brother, but he remained unresponsive.
“Dipper?” she tried again, her voice tinged with concern. Still no reaction.
As Dipper stood there, Mabel thought about leaving him with directions back, assuming he was still mad at her.
Suddenly, Dipper whirled around, getting right up in her face, nose to nose, with a slightly unsettling grin on his face, “Hello!”
Mabel let out a startled shriek, stumbling backward.
“You startle too easily, Mabel,” Dipper chuckled, a little small smirk hiding on his face.
"Heh, good one, Dipper," Mabel managed, her laughter strained.
After a moment of silence, Mabel spoke up again. "Hey, Dipper? Are you okay?"
Dipper's gaze hardened. "Yeah? Why wouldn’t I be?"
Mabel hesitated. "I mean… you're just acting a bit—"
"I'm F I N E," Dipper interrupted, his glare fixed on Mabel.
“Okay…Um...we should get going, the others are probably worried about us.”
Mabel then started walking back to the shack, Dipper in pursuit.
