Work Text:
At the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs, Finn hastily pulled up the first computer programme on his desktop, handily hiding the video of the ultrasound. He didn’t want to have his mother stumble across evidence of the pregnancy when Quinn wasn’t ready for anyone to know. Finn was excited about Drizzle…but he wasn’t stupid. He knew how Mr. and Mrs. Fabray were likely to react.
“Finn?” At the sound of the voice and the knock on the door, Finn practically jumped to attention.
“Dad?” At the sight of his father, his brow furrowed in confusion. “I thought that you weren’t coming home for another month?” Enough time for Finn to have convinced Quinn to either tell their parents about Drizzle or to move to that place where Santa and penguins live.
“They gave me an earlier return date,” Dad said, as he came into the room. “What are you…are you playing solitaire?”
Finn glanced at the screen. “Uh—yeah! Solitaire! It’s so fun!” In truth, he didn’t know what solitaire even was. “Q and I play together!”
His father’s lips curled into a smile. “Where is Ms. Fabray? Hiding in your closet?”
He shook his head. “No, Cheerios practice.” He closed the laptop. “Dad, I’m hungry. Can we get something to eat?”
