An Elemental Secret: Rewritten

Summary:

Sonic has never been all that he seemed to be: plants growing and shrinking around him, the sun always shining on him, it’s as if he was more than just some mortal. And, well, he is.

Join me as I rewrite my old, popular Wattpad fanfic that I started when I was 14 and didn’t update for 5 years. This is for everyone who enjoyed this story as I was writing it years ago. You all deserve to see its conclusion. And for everyone new to this tale, I invite you to join me as I rewrite the most influential project of my teenage years.

Welcome to An Elemental Secret: Rewritten.

Chapter 1: Prologue: A Story to Tell

Notes:

Hello! As stated in the summary, this is a rewrite of a very popular Wattpad fic of mine from my teenage years! I know the concept sounds weird as hell, but I really wanted to do this fic that a lot of people adored justice.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Why hello there. Please come in, sit down.

I was just about to tell a story as old as time itself. The story of how we and our world were created….

This story starts with Apollo and Busana: the sun and the moon.

A long time ago, our world was nothing but a rock. There was no water, no air, no life. It was this lifeless husk of a world that Busana found herself orbiting around. There was no one to keep her company, and the more she orbited, the more lonely she got.

But there was someone who admired her from afar, too shy to greet her properly. And his name was Apollo. See, the barren husk of a world Busana had been stuck orbiting was itself orbiting Apollo. The sun had noticed the moon easily. He was deeply lonely as well, and yet he still couldn’t approach her.

But it certainly didn’t take long for her to notice him, and Busana easily confronted him. And from then on, they promised that the other would never feel lonely ever again. And they weren’t.

Their companionship had quickly blossomed to love, and from that love, children were born.

The first was a girl named Haizea. She was a gentle soul, able to wield the air that we today can’t live without. She had grown up staring at the rock her mother orbited around, so much so that she became attached to it. When she noticed that parts of the rock were withering away, she created a barrier of wind to keep it together.

The second child was called Bubiza. They never truly shared their sister’s love for the rock, but as a gift they created a liquid to envelope the rock, it being held there by the air around it. Overtime as the planet formed further, this turned it blue, their sister’s favorite color.

Kalama was the third born. She saw this rock as her siblings’ prized possession and wanted nothing more than to leave her mark on this rock as well. She created a flaming ball in the core of the forming world, and it didn’t take long for volcanoes to emerge, and for the land to rise. Our world as we know it was almost formed.

It was then that the final child, a boy named Mahkah, changed everything. Seeing his eldest sister’s love for the rock, he opted to spend his time there, so much so that he almost lived there. He wished so dearly for something special for this land that his siblings worked so hard on. As he lived there, plants started to sprout from the ground, and it was from just that simple act that caused a series of wonderful events. Even if it was only plants, there was life to this world. And Mahkah thrived in it.

Of course, staying on that world all alone caused him to feel quite lonely. He wanted nothing more than to share this land with something more than the plants. Something that could think for itself.

It was from this growing desperate need that animals were created. Ones that lived off the land and breathed Haizea’s air, ones that lived off Bubiza’s deep blue water, ones that needed the warmth from Kalama’s fire. It was more than his own loneliness. This was in celebration of his siblings’ work.

It was a fantastic feat that his family was incredibly proud of. Mahkah felt as though he could do something more.

So, he experimented with his new found ability. And it was this experimentation that led to something no one could expect.

Humans filled the land, each and every one learning how to survive off of the land. Mahkah didn’t even need to intervene. These new creatures learned and grew on their own.

As the mortals continued to grow, Mahkah started to notice something new forming. A new spiritual being formed from the happiness of the mortals.

Her name was Farah.

Farah spread happiness throughout the world, and shone her way into Mahkah’s heart.

It was soon that they had fallen for each other. A new mortal concept of a wedding was planned, as they both adored the mortals and their ways.

But it was in this happy time that tragedy struck. When Mahkah found the love of his life dead, darkness overtaking not only her, but the mortals that she had tried so hard to inspire as well. The only one who could kill them was another spiritual being. And he knew exactly who could have done this.

Heolstor, the embodiment of darkness. A being who existed far before Mahkah and his siblings. He had been wanting to get his hands on the mortals for far too long, and with Farah gone…

It may have been too late to save his love and the happiness of the mortals, but it wasn’t too late to stop the darkness from spreading. Sealing the culprit away did nothing for the heartbroken being.

Filled with grief, Mahkah ran from his family, hiding as a mortal among the world that they had all created together. Legends say that he is still hidden amongst his creations, and that one day Farah will be resurrected. The lovers will be reunited once again.

But for now, Mahkah is living in our world as a renowned hero. And his name?

Well, it’s Sonic the Hedgehog.

Notes:

I can't believe y'all let me get away with constantly calling Bubiza "Buziba" in the original when I clearly introduced them as Bubiza multiple times smh

Also Bubiza uses they/them now because I say so
