Work Text:

Avocato sat in his office, finishing his last paperwork for the day. He was thinking about his husband, what he'd like for dinner, if he wasn't in pain, if he was happy. He finally wrote his last signature and piled all the papers neatly ontop of eachother. As he got up he grabbed his car keys, he walked out of his office, greeting all his coworkers. While driving home he stopped at a flower shop, Gary knew the florist who owned the store. Quinn greeted him, "hey Avo, here for your marigolds?" She asked him. "Yep, how much will it be?" He replied, Quinn gave him a slight smile. "It's on the house, don't worry." Avocato smiled as Quinn handed him the bouqet and said farewell, the drive home was more joyous than usual, but still not a happy one.

Gary coughed as he laid in bed, waiting for his husband to come home once again. He looked at the time, 5 pm. He should be home soon, he thought as he heard the door creak open. Avocato walked into the room, holding a bouqet of marigolds. He smiled and sat down on the bed, laying the flowers next to his ill husband. He kissed his forehead and hugged him tightly with as much love as possible, "how are you feeling my love?" He asked. "I feel alright honey, you don't have to ask everytime you see me." Gary giggled, Avocatos smile grew slightly and carressed his cheek, handling him like as a fragile flower. He sighed, "i'm just worried darling." Avocato said, his smile vanishing. Gary looked at him and pulled him into a hug, "everything that's happening to me is natural honey, you know that." Avocato hugged him back, tears welling in his eyes. "I don't want you to leave, Gary." He said, his voice slightly cracking as he held back tears.

Gary hugged him tighter, softly petting his heas aswell. "I know Avo, i'm sorry." Avocato nearly cracked and hugged his husband tighter, "don't apologise Gary." He said, a tear slowly dripping down his cheek. Gary hugged him back slightly tighter aswell, a few tears rolling down his cheeks aswell.

"I have one thing to ask for myself, for the funeral." Gary said, Avocatos breath hitched but nodded. "Put your favourite flowers with mine, blue and yellow look beautiful together." Avocato made a mental note and nodded again, letting his husband go and kissing his forehead again. "I love you so much Gary." He said, Gary smiled. "I love you too Avo..." Avocato laid next to him, cuddling Gary. He knew that when he woke up, Gary would still be asleep for a while. He hugged his husband tight, a few more tears dripped down his cheeks. He got his phone to message Quinn, asking for a marigold and blue daisy mixed bouqet and calling off of work for the next day. Gary laid in his arms, slowly breathing and he started crying once more. Holding his husband as tightly as he could, after a while he nodded off to sleep aswell.

The next day, he went to the flower shop again to pick up his order. Quinn greeted him with a smile and Avocato gave a weak smile back. "On the house, ofcourse" Quinn said, handing him the bouqet. Avocatos smile faded, "i won't need any more marigolds after today."
