Chapter Text
If a person had told Bronya that one day she would squirm up to an alpha, she would have scoffed right then and there. Despite being an omega, her traits were too vastly different. Her personality was far too strict, firm and stern to be like the stereotypical omega that she had observed over the years. Being Supreme Guardian was one thing. Being an omega was another. The amount of times she had fended off alphas with her bare hands and manipulated the center of her own gravity to throw alpha individuals too weak to control their instincts was far too many to count. It was truly infuriating to her. Bronya had no choice but to dictate her civilization while being perceived as weak. Submissive.
Submissive. That very word was an insult to her pride as guardian and even more so when her late mother was alive and guardian. Being the heiress was burdensome all in its own way. The way others around her age would be wary around her due to her status. Others? The alphas, whether male or female would be allured by her. Often, Bronya was able to keep her stance firm and establish boundaries. Other times, the way the sinful acts of lust and seduction preyed upon the alphas who lacked the will to resist their instincts, forced Bronya to become physical.
“You’re an omega, Bronya. Never forget this.” Cocolia’s voice would echo in her mind, her mother’s words once again forewarning about the indisputable. “If you have to use force to protect yourself, then do so.”
Force she used indeed. Yet, with her mother no longer with her due to the Stellaron’s curse, Bronya was left by herself. Left by herself to her own devices to navigate a crumbling world in her own two hands. A world that she had to fix once and for all. It was ironic, or so Bronya believed, that Cocolia had been cruel to the Underworld, leaving the place in shambles. Forcing many alpha workers down in the Underworld to abuse their strengths for geomarrow mining. Yet, Cocolia Rand herself was an alpha. An alpha who had a steely resolve and an unbreakable one at that. Bronya would never know what went through her mother’s mind, but it was best to leave that to the universe.
While there was grief that plagued her very heart and soul, a part of her held the feeling of disdain. Disdain that her mother was a hypocrite and one that abandoned her far too soon. Though, Bronya could never do much in that regard now that she had better things to do. The abundance of paperwork and meetings kept Bronya’s mind away from distressing matters. She was no longer the naive little girl that needed nurturing. She was no longer the omega who had been picked on by insufferable alphas.
“Bronya.” A familiar voice snapped the Supreme Guardian out of her thoughts.
The omega peered upward, gazing at familiar blues and violets. The scent coming from the other individual was one she had grown accustomed to. A scent belonging to an alpha. “Seele. I did not see you nor hear you come in. My apologies.” Bronya had responded, greeting back.
“It’s fine.” Seele answered in return, her indigo eyes watched her carefully. “You…seem out of it. Everything okay? Did I come at a bad time?”
“...just thinking a lot. That’s all.” It wasn’t wrong that Bronya had her mind filled with other matters. Matters of her past.
In truth, Bronya had fallen in love with an alpha. In her entire life growing up, she had hoped she would be with a beta. Someone not controlled by hormones and instincts. Someone with a will much like hers that would be with her solely because of who she is. Not what she was. It frustrated the guardian initially when she had come to terms with the feelings she held for Seele. Surprisingly, the other woman had felt the same. Yet, at the same time, Bronya could not help but continue to keep her distance from her current mate. The several arguments that came from that very situation were difficult to navigate, but in the end, Seele thankfully understood her reasons.
“I’m here for you, you know.” Seele could not help but chip in, shuffling papers aside from the spot she wanted to sit on when it came to the wooden desk. “I know you deal with a lot. Being the Supreme Guardian and all. Not easy. Let alone…” her voice trailed off then.
“Let alone being an omega. ” Bronya finished Seele’s sentence for her; her tone of voice stoic, but it held a subtle tone of dislike. “You are correct on that.”
Seele let out a sigh. “Bronya. There’s nothing wrong with being an omega. There’s nothing wrong with being an alpha, beta or an omega.”
“I know.” Bronya stated quietly, “however, with society running the way it is currently…it is not acceptable. It brings me frustrations. To see alphas be as arrogant as they are. Much like how my mother was.”
The alpha fell silent shortly after Bronya’s statement. Seele glanced to the side, her mind attempting to conjure a proper answer. What could I say to this? There was nothing Seele could do or say that would uplift her lover’s mood or her thoughts. It was surprising all by itself that Bronya of all individuals would fall in love with her. This frustrated Seele as well–that she had no idea of what it was like to be in an omega’s position. To be treated like some prized possession because someone could not control their instincts.
“I’m not sure what to say.” Seele admitted softly in turn.
“It’s not your fault. Don’t worry.” Bronya replied, a small smile formed on her lips. “It’s deeply rooted into our society for generations…I doubt it would change any time. But…I’d hope one day I can inch forward into creating a world that treats everyone as equals.”
Seele clenched her fingers together, her fists pressed against the wooden surface of the desk she sat on. It pained her deeply to see her mate suffer the way she did. Bearing burdens that no one their age should bear. They should have been experiencing growing up together. Experiences with friends. Family. Not bearing the crumbling worlds upon their shoulders. Becoming heroes with little reward. Selflessness is a curse after all. One that they both willingly accepted much like a devil’s contract.
“If there’s anyone I know that could do that, it’s you. ” Seele smiled softly from her own words. “Unlike Cocolia…you’re far more superior, kinder and smarter than she was.”
Bronya chuckled. In a way, it was flattering that Seele had such faith in her. In another way, it was almost insulting as her late mother was why she beheld the current assets and skills she had today. “You’re exaggerating, Seele.” Bronya mused, and she could detect the scent of her alpha inching closer to her.
Seele removed herself from the desk, standing over her omega before she reached her arms forward and began to grip onto Bronya’s shoulders. She began to massage and knead, melting away the toughened knots that were the result of pent up stress over the days and weeks that passed. “You’re stiff, Princess.” Seele eyed Bronya’s expression which melted into a relaxed complexion. “Let me help.”
Bronya could not help but melt from the tender touches Seele provided her. The kneading and massaging of her trapezius and downwards to her shoulders. A small groan came from the Supreme Guardian’s lips, and Seele could not help but smile at that reaction. “How about we take this elsewhere? You deserve it.” Seele commented.
It was true that giving a body massage while sitting upright in a chair would be difficult. Though Bronya wanted to bury herself in her paperwork, there was some desire of yearning for Seele’s touch–even if it were mild and tender. “I suppose…a small break will suffice. Just for a little while.” Bronya chuckled, though her thoughts traveled elsewhere. It means I get to spend more time with you.
Before Bronya could get up, the swift movement of her alpha was faster than her own movements. A quick scoop up from her seat and into Seele’s arms, the guardian blinked a couple times as she processed the strong arm under her legs and another under her back. “Quick on your feet, isn’t that right Seele? You do know you didn’t have to do this right?”
“I wanted to.” Seele left a quick kiss on Bronya’s cheek. “Take it as a small reward for all the hard work you do.”
Hard work. It was indeed arduous to be the Supreme Guardian. Endless stacks of papers and endless meetings. Discussions on what to do and having her motives challenged. It was difficult, but the changes would show much like seeds sprouting on a warm spring day. The scent coming from her alpha distracted her however. There was something very endearing and sensual when it came to Seele’s scent. It wasn’t the most dominant musky scent there is, but there was a subtle sweetness that Bronya could not stop focusing on. Subtly, the silvery-haired omega leaned forward, quietly sniffing and savoring her mate’s scent. It oddly cooled her nerves and it comforted her. Much to Bronya’s surprise.
When Bronya felt her back meet the mattress of her bed, she watched Seele sit on the edge of the bed next to her. “I’ll need you on your stomach, Bronya.” Seele stated, waiting for her to move herself.
With a nod, she rolled over onto her stomach as commanded. She crossed her arms together in front of her, using her pillow as well to leverage her head in a more comfortable position. When Seele’s hands gently kneaded and massaged her trapezius again, she could not help but shudder from the touch alone. Seele had always respected her space and boundaries. It was partially why she fell in love with her in the first place. An alpha with strong control and will to battle through what was naturally imposed since birth was something to be respected. Even if Seele herself was assertive and physically aggressive during conflicts and confrontations, she ultimately would always hold back even if she wanted to lash out from raw wrath.
The silence between them both was something Bronya was accustomed to. While they had their disagreements and arguments, the shared serenity is something she appreciated. To be beside her mate without the countless words flung at each other like bickering children. She hummed quietly when Seele’s digits trail down to her upper back, kneading at the knots that tightened. “...sorry for asking, but…when is your next heat?” Seele had asked knowing she would have to give her mate space during those days.
“In three days.” Bronya grimaced at the slight dull ache that came from one of my knotted muscles. “You know where I’ll be in those few days.”
“Yeah.” Seele’s reply was curt, her focus on removing the tension in her muscles that plagued her partner’s back. “I won’t visit on those days. I know you like spending time alone to avoid getting other alphas into their ruts.”
Bronya remembered the first time she went into heat in front of Seele. Thankfully, with how stubborn the both of them were, nothing came out of it. However, she could not help but imagine how agonizing it was for Seele to endure that event by herself. It made her gut churn ever so slightly with guilt. “...I still feel guilty about the first time I went into heat in front of you.” Bronya admitted quietly. “It must have been painful.”
Seele paused then. Bronya wanted to turn around to read her mate’s expression, but she was met with the feeling of lips kissing her on top of her head and the feeling of mild nuzzling into her hair. The heat rushed up Bronya’s cheeks immediately. How romantic of you, Seele.
Seele always surprised her when it came to how gentle she could be. “Don’t worry about it.” Seele muttered quietly into her ear. “I will never do anything to you without your consent.”
Bronya was thankful for that. “I know.” she answered, a smile crept up on her countenance. “I know you must have wanted some time to be able to be intimate with me…to be able to mate with me. I’m…just not ready.”
“I know.” Seele left another kiss on top of Bronya’s head. “I want to show you how much I love you one day. Physically. Intimately. I can wait as long as you need. I won’t go anywhere.”
Fingers dug into the bedsheets and into the pillow. Bronya could not help but be flustered by her alpha’s remarks. Yet, the irony of it all, when they first met it was of pure chaos. Of all individuals, Bronya had always assumed that Seele would be boorish, crude and a nightmare to be around. Yet, here she was, acting like her knight. Full of charisma and tenderness. “Thank you, Seele.” She muttered out, temporarily tensing when Seele continued her massages now at her lower back.
“No. I should be thanking you, Bronya.” Seele replied in turn, focusing on kneading her lower back, waist and hips. “But I’m not here to ramble on.”
Another satisfied groan from Bronya. She continued to melt from Seele’s touches, the muscles that were once tense now more relaxed. “What do you mean you should be thanking me? I’ve done nothing.”
“Well, I’ll tell you later. Now isn’t the time. Right now, the focus is you .”
When Seele didn’t want to confess about something, nothing in the world would make her do so. Bronya learned that the hard way. Sighing, the Supreme Guardian could only nod and roll onto her back on command so Seele would work on massaging her legs. It was ticklish down at her inner thighs, but she had trusted Seele enough that the alpha would not advance any more than necessary.
Finishing up, Seele playfully laid on top of her mate, grinning as she left a kiss on her lover’s lips. “Feel better?” She asked, she wanted to make sure that Bronya was no longer stiff.
Bronya chuckled before returning the tender kiss with her own. Her hands gently reached upwards, cupping Seele’s face, the tips of her fingers meeting with midnight blue hair. “I do. Thank you, Seele. I feel much better.”
The soft subtle movements of her digits playing with Seele’s hair caught the alpha’s attention. While there was silence between the both of them, Bronya had her thoughts elsewhere. While it was true that her heat would arrive in approximately three days, she also had thought about the situations that could put her in danger or in uncomfortable situations. I suppose I have no choice when it comes to this. Bronya’s words picked at the back of her mind, and she let out a soft sigh.
“Something wrong?” Seele could not help but feel concerned when Bronya sighed.
“No. It’s just…” Bronya’s tongue felt tied and she trailed off.
“Just…?” Seele eyed her carefully, patiently waiting for the next string of words.
“Mark me. Rub your scent over me. I don’t want anyone thinking I’m available for picking just because I’m going through something natural in the next few days. It’ll help deter any unwelcome advances.”
“Ah.” Seele paused. “Are…you sure? I don’t want to do anything that–”
“ Please. ” Bronya’s tone caught Seele off guard.
“A-alright. Just let me know if you want me to stop.”
Seele nuzzled her face into Bronya’s neck hesitantly. Bronya felt her heart pound in her chest while feeling her mate press her body against hers. It wasn’t unwelcome in terms of feeling, but the sinking of teeth into her jugular forced a sensual groan from the back of her throat. Seele was careful; it was easy to tell by the way she was meticulous in lapping up the bites with her tongue, and trails of butterfly kisses left immediately after. That musky scent that came from Seele made Bronya’s mind spin, her neutral gray eyes stared at the white ceiling to distract herself from her mate’s advances.
Bronya felt the heat rush to her cheeks when Seele began grinding herself against her, possessively marking and rubbing her scent all over her body even though they did nothing more than just that. The silvery-haired omega let out a soft sigh when Seele ceased nipping at her neck, her lips meeting her warm skin to leave kisses. At this point, Bronya knew it was her mate’s language of portraying love and affection–she did not mind that at all.
Her thoughts trailed to more intimate thoughts. Bronya could not help herself but imagine what it would be like to have Seele penetrate her with her member and mate with her lovingly and possessively. It was a curious thought–one that was natural to every conscious and self-aware human being. Though, that would be for when she was truly ready to receive her mate in her arms. “Affectionate aren’t we?” Bronya shattered the silence with her words, a dry chuckle escaped from her lips. “I’m more than sure that I’m covered in your scent by now.”
“Of course. I love you after all.” Seele yielded her advances and sat upright in front of her partner.
Bronya sat up as well. “I don’t mind.” she smiled, “Though everyone is going to suspect you knotted in me from how strong the scent is.”
Seele grinned and then shrugged. “Not like I care what others think. All that matters to me is you. ”
Bronya giggled as well. Gray eyes watched Seele unravel the blue and red scarf protecting her neck and she watched Seele gently make work with wrapping it around her neck. The scent of her alpha was dominant within that scarf and it proceeded to lull Bronya. Instinctively, she used her hand to adjust the scarf, her face nuzzling into the fabric. “It’s quite warm. I see why you wear this scarf all the time.”
Seele could not help but widen her smile from watching her mate nuzzle and become comfortable in her scarf. “It is. It keeps me warm when I’m outdoors. But since you’re going into heat for three days…I know omegas like to have something that belongs to their mates…so I’ll come back to get it when you’re finished with it.”
“Can I keep it?” Bronya teased, a smile hidden away from the scarf covering her neck and partially her face.
Seele caught on. “Only if you have a scarf of your own.” Then, a chuckle. “I kid. You can have it as long as you want. I’ll find something else.”
“No need.” Bronya replied immediately, then scooted forward to reach her hand forward to caress Seele’s cheek. “My scent will overpower the one in the scarf after I’m done. A reminder of how much I love you.”
Seele’s hand placed itself over Bronya’s, her cheek nuzzling into the palm of her omega’s hand. “You’re so sappy, you know that Princess?”
“I know.” Bronya widened her smile. “It’s because I love you. ”
