Chapter Text
Cale stood, with confusion and a frown marring his handsome face, as he stumbled upon a city reduced to rubble and wreckage.
A second ago, he was walking (more like swaying) down the streets of Rain City, face flushed from drinking, with a half empty bottle of alcohol in hand.
A second ago, he was internally debating with himself if he’s going home early or not as his act of trashiness has reached the daily quota he has planned for the day.
A second ago, he was looking forward to be able to crash in his bed, to sleep the entirety of the day off, to be able to put down his trashy persona in the privacy of his room, only to repeat his actions the next day.
A second ago, Cale Henituse is walking down the streets of his home, of the rowdy streets of Henituse Territory. Of the place that he can undeniably call as his. Living the normal life as the trash of the count’s family.
Now though, as he stood in the middle of a destroyed city, with the same half empty bottle of alcohol clutched tightly in his hand, Cale Henituse thinks that he must have stumbled upon one of those things that the regulars at the bar sometimes talk about.
Of invisible voids that connects their world to another.
Of the mysterious disappearance of people that stumbled upon said paradoxes, only to never be seen again.
Cale Henituse stood, unmoving and unblinking in the middle of a destroyed city, with only a half empty bottle in his hand as he realizes that he might never see his family again.
Sorrow and despair would have gripped him, if it weren’t for the loud, inhuman screech followed by loud, crashing sounds of a monster in the middle of a fight, that broke him out of his mind.
‘Ah,’ Cale thinks. ‘I’m screwed, aren’t I?’
“My name is Cale Henituse,” Cale introduces himself to the group of black haired people. Cale could confidently say that the group are a group of super-humans, really, as he had learned that these people who saved him earlier possess multiple abilities.
He listened halfheartedly to the woman who introduces herself as Kim Min-Ah, followed by her husband Bae Puh Rum, and one other guy that Cale really couldn’t bother to remember the name of- as he stares at the man currently being tended by the healer.
Cale silently observe his savior.
The man who had saved him is buff and tall, with scars littering his body (that Cale suspects came both from the monsters he fights on a daily basis and from his own ability that Cale has personally witnessed as the man materializes right in front of him before the man unceremoniously sweeps him off his feet, his formerly clean, noble clothes seeping with blood as the man seemingly teleported them out of the place Cale was standing at few seconds prior.
He was horrified to see the man’s skin bleed as gashes- small and big- starts to show upon the patches of skin that aren’t hidden by his clothes, thus making him realize that his power must have some kind of backlash as he saves Cale from a horrible death-) and reddish brown eyes that seems to stare blankly at the wall with his equally blank face.
He seems older as well, Cale notes. Maybe twice older than Cale’s current age. Seeing as he’s the only 18 years old in a room filled with adults, of course he’s bound to be the youngest.
In order to learn his name, Cale took the opportunity that Kim Min-Ah and the others presented to him as Cale gestures towards his savior.
“And him?”
“Oh,” Bae Puh Rum lets out a sheepish smile, his hand gesturing towards the man that Cale has been staring at since earlier. “That’s Team Leader Kim Roksu.”
Cale waits for any indication that the man had heard them. But it seems that Team Leader Kim Roksu had tuned them out long ago (alongside with the nagging of the healer tending to his injuries) as he continues to ignore them and his surroundings.
Disliking the fact that Cale is being ignored, by his own savior no less, he was ready to start acting his trashy persona if it meant that he’d manage to catch the attention of the older man when Kim Min-Ah met his eyes.
Black eyes alighted with mischief, Cale keeps his mouth shut as Kim Min-Ah looks at Kim Roksu.
“Well, since Team Leader looks fine, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind looking after our dear guest here, no?”
That seems to get Kim Roksu’s attention, as the older man snaps his head so fast that Cale is amazed he didn’t break his own neck.
Reddish brown eyes so similar to his give his team member a look that Cale, to his great amusement, recognizes as a badly hidden look of bewilderment. “What?”
“Since Team Leader has explicitly broken our No Working Allowed on a Day Off rule, our team has unanimously decided that this young gentleman right here,” Kim Min-ah gestures towards him, “will be staying with you starting today.”
When Kim Roksu finally met his eyes, Cale couldn’t help but smile smugly at him.
“I guess I’ll be in your care, Team Leader.”
Cale watch with barely contained amusement as the older man’s eyes turn chaotic at his words.
Well, if he’s going to get stuck in this world starting today, he guess it’s better to have fun.
