Work Text:
Bloodcurdling screams could be heard as the treasure hoarder hideout before the Wanderer burned to the ground. Well, he thought, his mind going out to the little girl in red who had gifted him some of her 'treasures' earlier this morning when he had fished her out of Starfell Lake, this sure was one way to do it.
It was proving itself to be quite the useful gift, so he was rather thankful. Though he did wonder about the state of Mondstadt, considering they had a little terrorist running around at large. Well. It was the city of freedom, after all.
Casually throwing and catching the insignia he had reclaimed from the treasure hoarders with one hand, he made his way back to the city. While he could just start his journey back to Sumeru right this instant, Buer had stipulated that he took proper breaks and got ample rest on his so-called 'business trips'.
As he passed through the city gates, a high-pitched voice called out towards him.
"Ah!! It's the big brother with the hat!"
The little terrorist in red bounded towards him, excitedly waving her small hand. She skidded to a stop in front of him and looked up at him with sparkling eyes. "Big brother, you were going after bad guys, right? Did Klee's treasures help?"
He leveled the child with a contemplating stare, not sure if he was going to give her the time of the day. Her bright eyes stared right back at him, eagerly awaiting his answer.
... He supposed he was fairly thankful.
"Yes," he said, watching her eyes shine at his response, before crouching down to her level. "Where do you get your 'treasures' from?"
"Klee makes them herself!," the girl explained enthusiastically, clapping her hands together in excitement. "Klee messes up sometimes, and then Master Jean scolds me and I have to reflect in solitary confinement. But after Klee finishes reflecting, there's still much time left, so Klee works on her Jumpty Dumpties!"
He almost snorted at the girl's elaboration. Apparently there were people trying to keep the little arsonist in check. Albeit somewhat unsuccessfully.
"I see. Well, I have to get going," the Wanderer says, getting back up from his crouching position.
"Where are you going?," Klee perked up, taking a step back so she could see his face without craning her neck too much. "Big brother, you don't look like you're from here. Are you looking for something? Klee can show you around!"
He looked into her brilliant red eyes, shining with the eagerness to help him.
Having a guide didn't sound like a bad idea.
He nodded once. "I'll be counting on you, then."
Klee beamed as she reached out her hand, and the Wanderer let himself be pulled away through the ever-festive streets of Mondstadt.
