She sighs as she sends the files down a chute. It was a surprise that anyone wanted to take the kids honestly. Everyone either hates them or is terrified of them or both. It was a relief and a shock when the 4 came forward and volunteered.
The plan is the volunteers will read the childrens files and then go meet them one on one and see if they can get them comfortable enough to bring them to the temporary homes they've been assigned to live in at the moment.
They'll try to help the children rehabilitate from the abuse and manipulation that corrupted their lives.
...
Kazumi walks down the hall reading the file he was given. It gives a basic rundown of what they could learn about the child.
He was the lil ultimate pe he likes soccer the most and dislikes math and cigarettes. His birthday May 7th. There's almost nothing about his home life it just says fathers status: dead, great.
There's not much more info besides stuff like his height and weight but Kazumi doesn't bother with it. He sighs he's nervous about meeting this kid. "Cmon you volunteerd for this and this kid needs someone" he mutters to himself as he waits for further instruction.
He honestly doesn't know why he did it when he first heard about this whole thing he thought 'what poor soul will get stuck with that?' but when he found out only two people had volunteered so far and they were running out of time and the project might be scrapped something possessed him.
Possessed him to take care of one of the kids who killed more than half the adults in a city. Despite the obvious, the thought of what could happen to those kids made him feel queasy so he sucked it up and volunteered.
The only two children who didn't have a guardian yet were Nagisa and Masaru when he finally signed up. Kazumi knew little about both of them, but Nagisa kinda freaked him out so he went with Masaru. Even though he got a choice he wasn't very happy he was getting the self proclaimed "leader".
Kazumi has been a part of the foundation for the shortest time. He's younger than almost everyone there, and when he told a group of his coworkers he signed up they practically laughed in his face. Saying how he wouldn't last a day this just made him angry and more sure of his decision, but he's still absolutely terrified.
The first time he ever saw Masaru was when he was on the TV playing with a news anchors corpse like a toy, it made him sick to his stomach. He keeps having to remind himself that Masaru is simply a child who didn't understand what he was doing... He hopes.
A man walks out of the room where the supposed leader of the "Warriors of hope" is. He looks exasperated and tired. He looks at kazumi. "We're ready for you" he says before leaving faster than he needed too.
...
Minoru is practically forcing himself to stay by where he was told to wait. Everything is screaming at him to back out and just pretend he never even heard of the project. He sighs, he knows he can't do that it would probably be the cruelest thing he'd ever done.
He flips through Jataro's file again trying to be excited or at least fine with the fact he was going to be taking care of this kid. Minoru was the second person to sign up and the little girl kotoko was the only one taken. He chose Jataro because even though he's been described as disturbing he seems quiet and not as violent as the others.
Anyways the file said a bunch of stuff like how he's 4'3" and 66 pounds and his birthday was in February. He is the lil ultimate art and was the... Priest of the group whatever that means.
It was the extra info that confused him. It says his mothers deceased, which freaks Minori out even more. It also says the child likes people who hate him, and he doesn't like being liked? At the bottom someone scribbled "no idea what he's talking about half the time".
Minoru sighs what immature employee made this file and of course he had to get the weird kid. He immediately feels bad after saying that. He signed up for this because he heard all about the incident. The entire time he wished he could help someway, so when he found out he could he did it without thinking that much.
He felt like he never helped that much with projects or missions and it pissed him off that he couldn't help which is the whole reason he's here at the future foundation.
He's snapped out of his thoughts by a woman who just walked out the room the kid is supposedly in, she notices him. Before walking down the hall she says "that's a odd one you got". 'What the hell did I get myself into?!' He thinks with a panicked expression.
A little while later another woman comes out of the door looking freaked out and irritated. she whips around to see Minoru "go ahead" she mumbles angrily before walking away.
...
Hiroko is trying to stay positive. "Cmon you can do this we totally got this!" she says to herself. She's eager to meet the little girl, She signed up first so she got to pick whichever kid she wanted. She picked kotoko simply cause she felt like she'd do better raising a girl than a boy... and cause she seemed somewhat sane.
Hiroko found out about the project and immediately signed up she knows more than the average employee about the incident in towa city and she knows that something terrible has happened to each of these children.
She's not completely sure what happened to who but office gossip gets you far. Farther than the file did the file just said she was the lil ultimate drama and the fighter of the Warriors of hope. She's 4'5" her birthday is June 13th and a bunch of useless other stuff.
In the other info it just said "peel the chestnuts". Hiroko had no idea what that was supposed to mean but she would take the advice if it ever came into play. After the chestnut thing it also says "is definitely the ultimate drama" she closes the file.
She's quite anxious about this from what she heard Kotoko can be quite cruel. Hiroko likes to think she has pretty thick skin and will be immune to a elementary schoolers insults but who knows what this girl might say to her.
She takes a deep breath she just hopes she can help Kotoko even if she's a "demon spawn" as coworkers say. No she will help this girl no matter how she acts. Her determined demeanor returns everyone knows once she's got that look she rarely ever gives up no matter what.
Just then a woman practically runs out of the room with a expression mixed with fear and anger. She doesn't say a word but motions Hiroko to go inside before running off.
...
Etsudo stands in the hallway with the file open in her hand. She did not willingly sign up for this it was practically forced upon her. She was the last member to sign up and she only did it because it was the deadline and they only needed one more, and if she didn't do it they'd have to scrap the project.
She doesn't want the kids to get hurt because of her so she signed the paper. She keeps reading the file over and over again just for something to do. She got Nagisa Shingetsu,.he was the last child remaining when she signed up.
He's the lil ultimate social studies and was the sage. She's practically memorized his height, weight, and birthday 4'6", 72.6 lbs, and October 23. She rereads the extra info which just says; likes academic stuff such as dictionaries and has a fear of needles. Under that it just says "refuses to speak".
She reads it again and then again until she's practically got the whole file down. She's telling herself it's cause she's trying to be prepared for this but based on her shaking fingers and how much she keeps biting her nails one could say she's just as anxious as the rest.
She reads through the file like if she does something new will magically appear. Not surprisingly nothings new so she finally shuts the file and places it on a small coffee table next to her.
She glaces at it uneasy a few times she also keeps checking her watch. She's getting impatient she wants to rip the bandaid of and actually meet the kid. She knows a lot about the towa city incident unfortunately nothing about that is good. She knows these children all have severe problems and need proper help and love, not a bunch of employees that have probably never interacted with kids who aren't their siblings. She snaps herself out of it.
'Cmon no point in complaining' she says in her head begrudgingly. Then she watches a frustrated man leave Nagisa's room she takes that as a sign to go inside.
