Chapter Text

"How many has it been Damian?"

Ewen asked the CEO currently immersed in paperwork, looking through it focused, trying to make out the calculations of the annual results of Desmond and Co.

"How many what Ewen?"

Damian answered, without looking at his friend sitting across the office desk.

"Your secretaries duh. You have had them running away crying, boys and girls all the same. You really know how to work your charm, don’t you huh?"

Desmond looked at this to Ewen, his face turned up in a frown.

"It’s not my fault they can’t keep up to handling all my demands. I’m a CEO, I run a multi-million company and can’t afford to have my secretary acting like they don’t know what they’ve gotten themselves into."

At that Ewen stood up, checking his watch.

"Anyway, I’ve heard from Emile that they have already found a new one for the job. Hope, this time they tame you, whoever it is."

Damian tsked in response, bidding goodbye to his friend.

***

The young Desmond heir was so immersed in his work that he couldn’t even hear about the knock on his office door.

"Damian are you free? I have someone to introduce to you."

Emile popped his head through the door, checking if Damian was alone in the office. After making sure it was all clear, he entered followed by a young girl who seemed to be close to their age, green eyes looking around with huge curiosity. The sound of heels clicking on the floor made Damian look up from his desk.

"Meet Anya Forger, Boss. She will be working as your secretary from today on… Hopefully."

He smiled sheepishly at his last words, looking expectantly between the new hire and the CEO.

Damian watched the girl with an assessing gaze, while Anya looked on, a bubbly smile plastered on her face.

She looks… nice? Was all Damian could think. He was not the one to easily be swayed by someone’s appearance, especially in a workplace, so finding Anya attractive felt a little offputting.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Desmond. I’m looking forward to working with you."

Even her voice is nice. Damian got so carried away by looking at his new secretary that he forgot he had yet to say hello.

"Damian?"

Emile’s voice pulled the man from his thoughts as he realized he was staring. But Anya didn’t seem to really notice that, still smiling without a care in the world.

"Uh, oh, of course. Take your place at the desk outside my office and be ready whenever I call for you. Understood?"

Damian made sure he sounded his full boss mode as he regarded Anya. Everyone had to know who ran the place, but the girl didn’t seem to mind his tone at all, as she cheerfully answered:

"Thank you, Mr. Desmond, I’ll be outside if you need me."

And both Anya and Emile exited the room.

She’s a peculiar one… was all Damian thought as he decided to ignore the weird way his heart beat and carried on with the work.

***

A few hours later Desmond sighed as he neared the end of the report paper. It was time to leave the office, he had a prior engagement with some of the company partners. He hastily exited the room, wanting to ask his secretary to call for his driver. Forger seemed to be organizing some papers with her back to him.

"Forger, I-"

Damian couldn’t finish his sentence as he felt his face collide with a fist, sharp pain searing through him.

"OH MY GOD, I’m so sorry Mr. Desmond I didn’t hear you coming and got cut off guard."

Anya seemed to go on, but Damian couldn’t focus much, as he felt a bit of blood trickling down his nose.

"Here's a napkin. Let me help, please."

And the girl started putting pressure on his nose, trying to stop the blood. Damian was still in shock from all that happened, no words coming out of his mouth, watching Anya panic as she kept on holding the napkin to his face. She somehow looked even more beautiful than Damian remembered a few hours ago, a thought which was totally inappropriate given the situation they were in. He should be firing Forger right away, not thinking about how beautiful she is!

Damian mentally composed himself.

"Forger, give the damn napkin to me. It’s alright."

He made sure to put some distance between them, as he realized the awkwardness of their situation more and more. Instead of feeling outraged he somehow felt embarrassed that he couldn’t block Anya’s strike. Damian prided himself on being in shape and made sure he not only worked out regularly but also trained in martial arts. His male ego was fully destroyed.

"Call my driver now, and forget any of this happened. Understood?"

He didn’t wait for his secretary’s answer as he hastily exited the room.

***

"Boss-man what happened to you?!"

Ewen almost shouted after seeing Damian enter the lobby with a bandage on his face.

"Cut it out Ewen, you are making a scene."

He had no intention of telling anyone he got beaten up by his secretary, a girl at that who looked like she couldn’t hurt a fly.

"I accidentally ran into a glass wall yesterday and hurt my nose. Nothing to worry about."

That was all Damian said to Ewen as he entered the elevator and started ascending to his floor. He mentally prepared for the meeting with his insufferable secretary, still not understanding why he didn’t fire her on the place. Forget it, he wasn’t planning on firing her even now, after getting over the shock of Anya’s fist.

Entering the room before his office, the first thing Damian registered was the smell of something delicious.

"Mr. Desmond!"

The pink-haired girl came running straight to him, with a guilty expression on her face. One look and once again Damian’s heart started picking up speed.

"Calm down, Ms. Forger, I told you yesterday that everything’s fine."

Anya looked at her boss, trying to figure out if he really meant what he said.

"Umm, here then I baked brownies for you as an apology. I hope you like it, Mr. Desmond."

Damian couldn’t believe this girl, could she become any more insufferable? It was like everything she did just disarmed him, taking away all his usual bravado and bossy demeanor that usually made people run for their hills. Heck, he wasn’t even sure if any of his scary techniques would work on her.

Meanwhile, Anya looked at her boss expectantly, holding delicious-looking brownies.

"Will you try it?"

The girl’s green eyes sparkled, and Damian knew he was doomed, for he found himself unable to say no to her.

"Just give them to me, ugh!"

The CEO tried his best to hide the blush on his face as he hastily took away the brownies and hurried for his office.

Damian knew he was in trouble. Deep trouble.
