“And the eliminated teams are… Team Axolotl and Team Crabs.”
Duxos eyes widened and jaw dropped slightly at the announcement. He quickly snapped out of it and scanned the rest of his teams faces. Their broken looks and crushed spirits. His eyes landed on Sneeg, the fearless moth hybrid just stares at the announcer with his mouth slightly open.
“Members of the eliminated teams will be sent back to where they were picked up from.” the announcer, or better known as “Quackity” stated. “Please follow the workers out immediately, remaining teams may stay.”
Duxo frantically looked around and watched many of his teammates get up and follow someone wearing a bright neon orange vest. After most of the crabs got off the bench he slowly peeled himself off and followed the others. His head and eyes stayed down the entire time.
But oh, he wasn’t exactly ready to go home yet. They walked through a forest-y part of the lands. Would they even notice if the penguin hybrid had gone missing? After a minute or two, Duxo slipped away from the rest and into the dense forest. He still followed the group but at a distance so they couldn’t see him.
The boat finally came into view as the others ran over. He stopped and watched them gather in front of the yacht. Luckily none of them seemed to have noticed a penguin hybrid not amongst them. Duxo looked over them and spotted two more workers approaching the Crab leader. He tilted his head out of curiosity as the workers started talking to Sneeg.
The workers must have asked Sneeg to follow them because moments later the trio walked in the opposite direction of the yacht with a very confused looking moth-man. Duxos eyes snapped back to the yacht and noticed everyone boarding the ship. Where they leaving without Sneeg? The answer came pretty quick as the boat moved away from the shore.
The realization finally hit him as he scrambled to stand up and run in the direction that the workers took Sneeg. He didn’t care about how many branches he ran into, Duxo had to see what the workers were doing with his friend. He saw a faint yellow glow coming from the clearing up ahead. Sprinting even faster, the penguin hybrid halted behind a bush when he saw Sneeg being dragged to a pool of neon yellow sludge, presumably radiation.
There stood a tall figure, all black with a single giant eye in the middle of its face. Duxo watched in horror as the brave, friendly moth he knew kicked and screamed at the workers as they dragged him to the edge of the pool. The workers looked up at the tall figure, waiting for something.
A hand signal. That was all it took for the workers to shove Duxos friend into the yellow, glowing radiation. He was so close to going down there and killing those workers. But he stayed still, not risking to be caught and met with a similar fate. He looked up from the pool and heard a voice coming from the figure.
“That’s enough of that. Thank you for your services.” The figure clapped and rubbed its hands together. The workers followed behind the figure as it walked back to the auditorium where the remaining teams were. Duxo had to wait what felt like an eternity until he thought it was safe to exit his hiding spot. Slowly, he slunk out of the bush and walked towards the pit with an emitting yellow glow. Peering over the edge, Duxo saw nothing but a few bubbles.
He let his leader get thrown into radiation and possibly got him killed. What kind of team member would allow his leader to get killed?
He blames himself, his friend was surely dead.
