Chapter Text
“Freeze!" Gary points his gun at the back of the Ventexian. Gary slowly eases forward cautious of any sudden movements, Ventexians were known for their stealth and speed. Gary grips the gun tightly in his trembling hands, so he would not lose his grip of his only self defense.
"Freeze you sly cat man and get on your knees" Gary whispers, he didn’t trust his voice to sound commanding when he’s ready to drop. Gary has no idea what he’s doing, he barely ever interacts with others down in the lower levels. His only company was another cleaning robot, KVN, and the lower level AI, Hue (who Gary loves dearly). He wasn't prepared to come across any of these circumstances which was happening right now. The Ventexianian slowly got down on his knees with one hand in the air and the other curled into his chest, like it was holding something.
'Intruder alert! Intruder alert! beware of an Ventexianian carrying a bomb please be on a look out for a blue and white Ventexianian who is suspected of carrying a bomb' Gary takes a deep breath as the bomb carrying suspects is down on his knees in front of him. The red flashing lights are now the only source of light Gary has, and he's pretty this is the intruder in front of him. His communicator shrieks loud as he hears commanding officers shout out directions and voices overlapping each other. Gary walks around the Ventexian his gun is now shaking in Garys grip.
"Ok" Gary says but it sounds like to was for him and not the kneeling Ventexianian, "Just hand over the bomb and I'm sure we can handle this, No one needs to die" Gary urges the Ventexian, removing one hand off the gun and raising it to the cat, who hiss, his fangs sharp and large in the bright red flashing lights.
"Woah, hey I'm just trying to help you" Gary cries, putting his hand back on the gun and putting more space between them.
"Then help me escape" was the response Gary wasn't expecting.
"H-Help? Help you...escape?! You! Are carrying a bomb dude! I can't just?!" Gary's shoulder lifts in frustration and loss, "I just can't let you go!" the Ventexian adjusts its grip on the clothed wrapped object, silently defying Gary.
"I don't have a bomb" Gary squints in disbelief, hand on hip other still on his gun.
"Yeah, sure mister what else could you protect like this!'' Gary throws a hand out to gesture to the Ventexianian on his knees and gun still aiming at him. Just then the small covered 'bomb' wrapped in the cat's arm began to whine and move, the Ventexianian instantly went to rub it and shush it gently. It took Gary a minute and the peak of a small orange hand emerging from the blanket for Gary to fully understand.
"Oh my good lord, that's not a bomb, it's a baby!" Gary shouts. The Ventexian instantly hisses his whole body now on edge.
"Shut it! I don't want no one to hear, I barely got away" the Ventexian looks around, trying to find a secret passage or a sudden appearance of guards. Gary could only focus on the small creature now really moving in the bigger ones arm.
"Oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man" Gary puts his gun away and starts pacing back and forth, "you didn't like...STEAL this baby did you?" the Ventexianian drew back in disgust.
"What? hell no! this child is mine, blood, fur and all" he barks. Gary nods as he continues to pace, this still does not help their situation at all.
"Ok, fine you know what! I'll say I never saw you if you just tell me where the bomb is” the Ventexian looks away from the child and at the human.
"I don't have a bomb or any clue where one might be'' the Ventexianian fixes the blanket on the child and moves to walk past the human. Gary jerks forward to grab the Ventrexian but draws back, it’s too soon for anything like that especially in this situation.
"No! Wait!" the alien stops, turning to face the human, "How are you gonna escape? The whole infinity guard is after you and they actively labeled you as a terrorist" Gary explains as he walks slowly to the Ventexianian, "and sorry to say but I kinda doubt you can get far with how fussy he or she seems to be getting" Gary points to the wiggling mound of blanket in his hand that was now whimpering with a few soft meows (which melts Gary's heart). The Ventexianian frowns, adjusting the blankets again, and...the human was right trying to leave now would not only be a huge risk but nearly impossible. He looks down thoughtfully at the child in his arms fighting against the tightly wrapped blankets.
"Yeah, that's exactly what I'll do" Gary smirks as the Ventexiania looks lost and somewhat guarded. He takes the piece of paper and reads the directions, face focus in taking in every detail. Gary walks down the hallway and looks left and right at the end of the hallways, left is the passage to the stairs and right is the way to the streets.
"Ok, so what? You're gonna help me?" Gary looks down at the ground and bites the inside of his cheek. Would he? This is a huge thing, it’s one thing to destroy 92 Imperium Cruiser ships, along with a small family-owned Mexican restaurant. It’s a whole other thing to help a publically labeled terrorist who actually doesn't have a bomb but a baby. And why is Gary even thinking about this? What would he dad do in this situation?! Help this random guy or report him to the higher ups?...If he reports him then Gary might get off janitor duty 8 years early!….but...Gary bites his finger as he looks at the baby in the man's arms. What would happen to the baby? Surely now that Gary knows it's a baby and not a bomb, it sits differently with Gary. Gary turns to face the guy and what? They take him away? Put the baby in the system? Where he’ll grow up to be like….Gary swallows dryly. No. He couldn’t. He could never do that to another child. Gary pulls a scrap piece of paper from his pockets and a pen from his janitor vest and scribbles down directions to his home. Gary moves to hand the paper to the guy before he hesitates.
'Listen, son' Gary sits on the couch and watches as his dad sits beside him, 'There are times in your life when you are gonna have to stand up for yourself, no matter who is against your friends, family, no one or everyone. The only thing that matters is what you think and/or feel and if you would regret it' John smiles as he rubs his son's shoulder 'So if everyone is against you and shouting you are wrong but you feel it's right, go on and do what's right, because that's all life is' John moved his hand to Gary's chest, 'Everybody just doing what feels rights to them and what's makes them feel good or better, so just because everyone doesn't agree doesn't make it necessarily wrong'
"My place isn’t far, you and the baby can rest until the heat dies off and then you can fly off back home or whatever" Gary explains as he motions for the cat man to follow. The Ventexian remains in place, weighing his options, what was best for him and more importantly his son, before he follows cautiously.
"Uh yeah sounds like a plan, man" Gary turns to face the Ventexian, smiling.
"Oh I'm Gary goodspeed by the way" Gary holds his hand out and the alien stares at it a moment before reaching a hand out to shake Garys. He faintly hears a ‘bros clasp’ before he pulls his hand away, to cradle his son closer to his chest.
"Avocato" Gary hums nodding, eyebrow raising in question.
"No last name?"
"No"
"Alright then coolio"
