Sacrifice

Summary:

Lately, Luke Skywalker have been having disturbing visions of the future, he knew that he can't try to make the same mistakes as Anakin. For the sake of his family, friends, and Jedi, he must sacrifice everything just so that others may live.

Notes:

This is a fix it. Me trying to make it so that the Sequel Trilogy is palatable.

Work Text:

This takes place before Luke leaving the Jedi.  I wanted to recontextualized how Luke kinda broke and ‘fix’ his character.  If the Rey movie were to happen, I want Luke’s Jedi Order to survive in secrecy.

Sacrifice

By Marie Nomad

The darkness was heavy as Ahsoka wandered to the Jedi Academy that Luke had founded after he founded several children with strong force sensitivity.  It was the largest one of the group.  It was the first one.  After there were enough Jedi, Luke had different groups of Jedi learning in different areas of the Galaxy.  Ahsoka had been looking after the Jedi in Dagobah.  It was a dangerous place but she could feel Yoda’s presence, even after all this time.

“Ahsoka, thank you for coming.” Luke greeted.

Ahsoka bowed her head to Luke.  She was proud of Luke for creating the New Jedi Order.  He had asked her for her advice, her insight.  There were times he even asked her about his father, both about Anakin and Darth Vader.  “Are you still having the visions?” She knew that Jedi visions are a dangerous thing.  Anakin had been driving to the dark side because of visions of losing his family.  She wished that she was there to help Anakin when he had visions of Padme dying.  But, Anakin told her that he would have killed her or worse, drove her to the dark side if she didn’t leave the Jedi Order.  She followed the Force and the Force told her to go.

“I’m afraid so.” Luke sighed as he looked at Ben training.  “I had been feeling a darkness around Ben.  I am doing my best but I’m scared for him.”

“We all have an inner darkness, even Master Yoda.”

The two walked to a distance and Luke gazed outward.  “I had visions of myself wandering alone, the Last Jedi, away from family.  I was disillusioned about the Jedi, even tossed my father’s lightsaber away.”

“You would never do that.” Ahsoka shook her head.

“This feels like the future.” Luke said.  “There are stories of Jedi trying to avoid visions of doom.  But, what if we embrace the vision?”

If Ahsoka had eyebrows, they would be up to her forehead.  “You’re not planning to disassemble the New Jedi Order now are you?”

“Not exactly.  My visions was centered around me, my point of view.  What if I think that I was the Last Jedi and that I cut myself off from everyone?  That way, the vision comes true but everyone is safe?  There are Jedi techniques that enable them to erase memories right?”

“Memory rubbing.  It can be used to alter memories, especially those with a weak mind.” Ahsoka recalled.  She had to manipulate memories lots of times while she was hiding.  It was mostly just to have different people forget about her.  It had been handy when she was Fulcrum.  She had a feeling that what was Luke going to ask, will be more in depth.

“What about me?”

Ahsoka closed her eyes as she reached out for guidance from the Force.  “If you let it, it can be done.  Memories are fragile.  But Luke, are you sure?  You have a wife.”

“I want to protect her.  I… she’s going to have a baby.  We didn’t tell anyone yet.” Luke smiled sadly.  “For the sake of the Future Jedi, I must forget the other Jedi Temples.” Ever since the First Order have been starting to appear from the remains of the Empire, Luke and the other Jedi have been careful.  There were the ‘known Jedi’ Luke, Ahsoka, and Ezra and their own students.  But there were others that keep to the shadows spreading light in areas where the New Republic don’t reach like the Outer Rim and the Unknown Spaces.  Jedi Missionaries that usually just spread stories about the Force and keep an eye out for anyone with a strong Force potential.  Sometimes, they even run into those who are not strong in the Force but are deeply passionate.

Ahsoka wiped a tear as she steadied herself.  “You are better than your father.  Self-sacrifice is the Jedi Way.”

“Just, protect Mara and my kids.  Be their Ben Kenobi.” Luke held out Ahsoka’s Silka beads.  He told her that Darth Vader kept the beads along with Obi Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber for some reason on his castle on Mustafar.  Luke kept them.  He kept Obi Wan’s lightsaber in honor of him and he kept the beads just in case Ahsoka wanted them back.

“It will be an honor, Luke Skywalker.” Ahsoka accepted the beads.  “I will erase the knowledge of the other Jedi Temples and the missionaries.  Ezra and Sabine can watch over them.  I will also erase your memories of Mara Jade.” She paused. “That should change you.  When the First Order attack and threaten the New Jedi Order, send a transmission out to me.  Say the words ‘Order 66’.  I will implant that in your mind.”

“The order that destroyed the Old Jedi.” Luke recognized.

“Hey, that’s the words that doomed the Old Jedi Order.  It serves as a good warning.”

“Thank you.  Tell Mara, Han, Chewy, and Leia about this.  But no one else.”

“I will.”

Luke knelt down in front of Ahsoka and she summoned the force.  Luke opened his mind and dropped his barriers to its most vulnerable.  “Do it.”

Ahsoka reached out into Luke’s mind.  She could feel Luke’s willingness to get through it but at the same time fear.  “This is the only Jedi Temple.” She compelled.

“This is the only Jedi Temple.” Luke repeated as memories of the other temples disappeared.

“You have no family other than Leia and her family.”

“I… I have…” Luke struggled as he saw memories of his meeting Mara Jade fading.  “I… have no family other than Leia and her family.”

Ahsoka felt Anakin behind her giving her strength as she manipulated Luke’s memories and tears ran down her face.  She didn’t feel this sad since she had walked down the Jedi Temple’s steps.  “There are no other Jedi, there are no other family.” She repeated.  “When this place falls, you will send out a transmission ‘Order 66’.”

“Order 66.” Luke repeated as he felt his mind changed.  He collapsed and Ahsoka gently lifted him up and put him to the side.

“The Force will always be with you.” Ahsoka said as she looked up to see Anakin and the ghosts of the other Jedi watching them.

She gently kissed him on the forehead and walked away.  Tears ran down her face again as the Force told her that this would be the last time, she would see Luke alive.
