Chapter 1: When a Dragon Loses Everything...

Chapter Text

Blood was all she saw, the blood of THE Loved and THE Hated’s demented smile, its talons and maw covered in HER blood.

Her beloved was drifting, eyes once filled with anger and fear, but so, so full of love for her, were now full of terror and pain and ‘why! Why!! Why!!!!!!!! I loved you i-’. IT once told her, that when you're dead, your eyes will become lifeless, dull…blank. This couldn't be further from the emotion in her eyes, her final seconds spent staring into her love’s eyes, accusing and full of betrayal.

And she HAD betrayed her because- she could have stopped this- couldn't she? Nothing felt real, nothing was real- because it wouldn't have- no- it wouldn't have-

A touch on her wingtip, freshly mangled body bobbing on past her, grazing her wing with her snout in a final horrid parody of a goodbye… she choked on water, her entire body was too much!!! everything- why had she-

Her brain was too empty, in this part of the story, the character always knew how to act, Wath to say, and to whom..but she-... wasn't in a storybook, wasn't in a tragedy or a play, where the character’s where just as fake as the injuries.

IT looked at her, and for a horrible, relieving second, she thought ‘It'll attack, and I'll wake up! None of this was real- it was going to be-

“Are you ok, Dear?” it flashed, her smile concerned instead of deranged and vengeful. That's what made her drop, she was no longer above her body, watching from afar but there! Right in front of her mother... And the corpse of her greatest Love….

“For throne and kingdom, I challenge you.” the flashes were instinct, the words that killed her sister, she said without hesitation. Her sister had wanted power, the throne, the jewels, and the freedom most of all. It was a mockery, an insult to use these words, a false claim of want… but what would hurt a narcissist more? Then to hear a claim that erases you completely.

You are nothing, mother, nothing at all.’ she thought, calm in her certainly, ‘no matter what happens next, I'll never think of you again.
