r/Gotham: A Lost Phone

Summary:

Welcome to r/Gotham (and potentially more)

Here Gothamites share their less than stellar opinions on the city and the going ons within. A standard city subreddit with an extra dash of fear gas and vigilantism.

The internet isn't a bubble exempt from the real world. It'll become evident just how much Reddit can and does affect reality.

Or, a social media fic that gives a view of the average citizen's lives in Gotham city.

Notes:

This is partially inspired by r/onlyingotham ! I read it and remembered something I saw about mimicking social media sites in AO3 through skins and got curious if there was one for reddit. Lo and behold, there was! The CSS is from spookedcroon's lovely template (but I modified it to my liking)

First Time Visiting

Hi, everyone. I'm coming to Gotham for the first time to visit my boyfriend and I've heard horror stories. I was wondering what parts of town are the safest because I'd like to go out on a date with him. I don't care about the most popular restaurants I just want to know which area is safest. Thanks!

Okay, I get that everywhere is dangerous but which part is the least?

They're not exaggerating. It's bad everywhere. It might as well not matter. Anyone visiting should be prepared to become the victim of a crime.

Well, the most dangerous would be Crime Alley

I would but he has his own place and I live with my parents. I was thinking about moving in with him to get away from my family

Take it from someone who has lived in Gotham for ten years. STAY WITH YOUR FAMILY

there are millions of people in the country, thousands of which live closer to you, and you choose a man who lives in Gotham. Find a new man while you're at it.

I just looked but there aren't any restaurants or shopping centers there??? I think I see a golf course but I'm not a big fan of that.

They're fucking with you. Bristol is residential and full of rich people.

Avoid crime alley. You’re better off in the south of Gotham. Ask your boyfriends about safe locations, he should know. Don’t carry anything of value and don’t bother calling the cops when bullshit goes down. Even if they show up they’ll be useless

You can and should call the police if something goes wrong. They're not that bad! Just very busy

If you seriously think it's worth calling the cops in this city then you're either a cop yourself, related to one of them, or live in Bristol.

You should sell it. One of these fuckers would 100% pay good money for it.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever find myself in need. For now I'll bask in the glory of having the name!!

Notes:

Once again, inspired by r/onlyingotham and uses spookedcroon’s template as a basis. If anyone has any questions about the css and how to do it yourself feel free to ask me but also refer to the template and most recent comments for further guidance.

I updated broken image links and made it look a little more like what modern Reddit looks like. More specifically the mobile app because Reddit once again changed their website and it looks way different now and I don’t know how to code. This is already time consuming enough as it is (my 20+ WIPs sobbing in the background as I spend an hour writing a single comment for this fic).

Please let me know what you think! All feedback is appreciated.
