Work Text:

It's a normal occurrence for Minjeong's wife to be hit on by some random side character in their story. Typically they opt for the good ol' pick-up lines, plucked from an old classic, probably originating from the olden days.

When Jimin is at work, her coworkers like to butter her up with flattery to leech off of her for something work related. Maybe get her to help them with their portion of the pile, or guilt trip her into covering for them for reasons that are usually stupid. But Jimin, most of the time, she's smart enough not to fall for their tricks.

And today? Well, today is just like any other day. Jimin gets hit on by a guy—pretty good looking, dare Minjeong say—and she politely, maybe not, declines. Except today Jimin isn't at work and it's a Sunday. They're out on a date and Minjeong's left to pay a visit to the bathroom, comes back to see the waiter bothering (not really) her wife who's busy tapping away at her phone.

Now, don't get her wrong. Minjeong doesn't mind the fact that Jimin gets flirted with every passing second she's alone. In fact, she actually loves it. Like yes, people, look at my wife! Isn't she the most gorgeous thing in the world? But what bothers her when this happens is that some people, by a godforsaken rule or whatever, just can't seem to take a fucking hint.

“It's on the house.” The waiter says, a boyish smile plastered on his handsome-ish face. He leaves but only after staring at Jimin a little too long.

Jimin glances down at the tall glass of float. Not on their order. Jimin never really liked that thing, anyway. She merely nods her head, acknowledging it for two seconds before returning to her phone.

Clearly Jimin is uninterested! Why can't he read the room and just tuck his tail between his legs, walk away unharmed? Minjeong feels herself fume with a tiny spark as she returns to their table.

When Jimin sees her, she smiles up at her. A hand stretches out to hold onto hers. “Minjeongie,” She softly says.

Minjeong reciprocates her smile, perhaps an even bigger one. “Did I miss anything?” She asks but she knows Jimin understands what she means, if the scowl on Jimin's face is any indication. She chuckles, “So did he ask for your number?”

“Not yet. Just gave me a slice of cake and this float. Said it's on the house.” Jimin responds dismissively, lightly nodding at the newly added food on their table.

Minjeong dives straight for the cake because, well, why not? It's free and it's cake! She isn't one to deny herself a free dessert so she picks up a fork and gets to eating. It's a standard blueberry cheesecake but she likes it, anyway. Simple and basic, a flavor most reminiscent of her childhood from how many times she demanded it for her birthday. (She's a simple girl, even simpler now. Place a leaf in front of her and she'll find ways to entertain herself with it.)

“Good?” Jimin asks, a fond smile on her face. She's gazing at Minjeong so lovingly that Minjeong has a hard time chewing for a long second, finding herself frozen and thinking about just how mutual their love for each other really is. She gives her an answer in the end, nodding and even feeding Jimin more than half of the cake. This is nice; having a wife named Yu Jimin is so nice.

The float stays untouched while the cake is scraped off of the plate until the very last bit. And now it's time for them to leave and return to their cozy home to rest for the night before they go back to work the very next morning. Minjeong tells Jimin that she'll take care of the bill this time, and that she can pay for their next. Jimin sees nothing wrong with and simply thanks her with a peck on the cheek. (It's more than enough to make Minjeong's stomach do somersaults and cartwheels. Ugh, she wishes she will forever feel this way when Jimin kisses her.)

They eventually leave the shop. But Minjeong makes sure they linger a little around the outside to witness the waiter pick up their receipt and watch as the color drains from his face. She may or may not have left a kind message on there, signed with ‘Sincerely, Aphrodite's wife’.

She finds it funny how the waiter stands there stunned for about a minute, and Jimin does too.
